10 Journalism Brands Where You Find Real Facts Rather Than Alternative Facts
JimG comments on Jun 9, 2019:
Well at least *Forbes* didn't put itself on the list, and I don't trust the WSJ. They may present facts, but they don't necessarily do so without bias.
HippieChick58 replies on Jun 10, 2019:
I used to read WSJ, my ex Father in Law subscribed for his son, my now ex-husband. I am the sort if it is in print and in my house I will likely read it. So I read it. There were some really good articles that I still remember. Soooo several years post divorce, I picked up a WSJ in a waiting room. Either I've gone way far to the left (very possible) or they have veered strongly to the right, I thought they were far more right leaning than they were years ago. I didn't care to wade through the junk to get to anything I'd be interested in.

Try English language news from countries where English is not the main language. Al Jazeera RT English papers in India, China, Thailand......wherever. You get differing perspectives and realise how biased Western media is at times. Venezuela a recent classic example. BBC? Bahahaha

I like Al Jazeera, I used to read it frequently. Thanks for the reminder, I need to bookmark it at work... we sometimes have periods of inactivity and MSN News is the default.

My grandparents prayed for long lives, a gift they sought from the Lord. They lived with Alzheimer's, incontinence, loneliness, and pain until the age of 100. That's not a gift I want. I will go to "sleep" when living is no longer a blessing.

@Ms_McSteven I am so sorry you're not having a great time here. I hope I haven't done anything to make you feel "common" or anything like that. One of the things I like about this site is the broad range of responses. Yes, I prefer books to TV, I'm odd that way and I admit it. I may get more responses because I've been here for so long, and I'm a very active user. Or it just may be the time of day things are posted. I don't know. I probably spend far too many hours here, but it is my therapy and my online home. I did not create my post to criticize you. I saw an interesting (to me) article and I posted it. I am fascinated by the responses. I have found many like minded folks on this site, and I think you will too. Please don't give up. And please don't take any responses personally. Printed word is hard to read emotions behind. If it doesn't sit well ask for clarity, we have some sarcastic people who are hard to read, a bit of clarity can work wonders. I appreciate your presence, and I appreciate that you're outlook is different from mine.

This is good stuff! It perfectly answers my question. I've been IMing with someone that I suspect is a scammer and he asks almost every day what I've eaten, In theory he is from Arizona, so if I take it as he is an average American I am not going to discuss my diet because I don't eat the Standard American Diet. I tend to eat vegetarian/vegan and there seems to be no middle ground so I don't discuss it until I know someone better. But I had noticed many times before the question of have I eaten today comes up and usually they were scammers. I tend to be a scammer magnet, it is what I do.

Truly, I learned how to fold fitted sheets years and years ago, it always surprises me that people cannot fold them. Honestly, sometimes the sheets don't get folded before they're put back on the bed, they might stay in the basket, or elsewhere, depends on how motivated I get. When I do fold the sheets, they are folded neatly and tucked away. The fitted sheet is in the middle, topped with the pillow cases, and the flat sheet surrounds them all, one nice neat package.

@MST3K I don't know if I have ever had turnip, collard, or mustard greens. That was not in our vocabulary when I was growing up. In fact fresh spinach wasn't either, and canned not frequently. We had lettuce fresh from the garden in the summer, and that iceberg stuff during the winter. Compared to my siblings I eat a wider variety of foods and more ethnicities. Two of my brothers were in the Navy and one eats only common "American" foods that we grew up on. I love exploring new cuisines.

Thank goodness it was a crib size, therefore small quilt. Most of my fixtures in my house are brushed nickle or something silvery. My sister and BFF loves the Gaines stuff, even visited their store in Texas. Well, she is almost perfect otherwise. I remember before HGTV there was another network with some home dec shows, where neighbors did a project in the other neighbors house, it really seemed like the decorators had it in for the families. There were some lawsuits and some unhappy neighbors. I'm not letting anyone else in my house to make decorating decisions. I may not have great taste, but I know what I like and am willing to live with.
