@Mike1947 Seriously, I would not wish my brother on any woman I wanted to be friends with. He has some "quirks" that most people won't put up with; like always has to be right, thinks showering is optional, and was offended when I told him that it is good to express appreciation when someone does something for you. That last item prompted him to tell me to "shove it," and I have not heard from him since. So, he can stew in his own juices and I'm sure I will hear from him when he does need something.

@VineetHonkan No everyone comes to an awareness of themselves or whom they might be attracted to until later in life. I hadn't noticed you had deleted the post. We all get pissy from time to time, we're human. IMHO, leave the married folks alone. No matter the attraction it just isn't good form to break up a marriage. Dating is hard, or finding someone to date is hard. I have a 67 year old brother. He has never been married. He can't figure out why. I could tell him, but I'm the little sister; in his book I still don't know anything.

I'm 61. I've been in a bad marriage that lasted too long. Life is too short to settle for less than love. I'd rather be alone than with someone who doesn't respect me or meet my needs. Hence I am alone and will stay that way until I'm sure it is something better.

HippieChick58 replies on May 5, 2019:
@confidentrealm My mom had ovarian cancer that was metastasized when they found it. That was 1972. They gave her 10 weeks after surgery, she lived for 10 months. Mom was not a social butterfly, and the few friends she had were pretty scarce. When she passed on they loaded us up with food and goodies, and then dropped off the face of the earth again. Illnesses scare people, like it is contagious or something. They don't know what to say, they don't realize the real gift is presence.

Essentially a site for those looking for hookups only. In 2015 there was a data breach, and a threat to expose users. Many were prominent married men in their community. Does the name Josh Duggar ring a bell, as in Too Many Kids and Counting? That family was tainted by the scandal.

@Sticks48 I gave up my land line in the last 5 years. I had a landline post divorce when I lived in an apartment with my daughter and the gates were secured. I didn't want to get calls from her friends asking to be let in on my cell phone when I was at work or out of town. I kept the line for a few years after that. Then I worked nights and started getting campaign calls... The land line and the cable got turned off at the same time, so 2015 primary in Iowa.

That's easy for me since I'm on an island. Still, it's really hard to imagine people can be so ignorant. I wonder how much of this is due to the use of GPS for directions.
HippieChick58 replies on Apr 22, 2019:
@JackPedigo I have left right confusion, I do better if you just point. When I'm in a building I have no idea which way any direction is, unless I am familiar enough to know where I am. My current is office, I'm right by a window facing south. Last office, no such luck, I was always lost. L/R confusion seems to be genetically linked, my mom and paternal grandmother both had it. It made drilling in the Army challenging. I wore a ring on the right hand, Ring/right is how I dealt with it. I think my grandfathers influence was big in getting me interested in maps. When I am out for walks I have my phone with GPS and an app called MapMyWalk. That and I usually plan out my route ahead of time. In the car when I go to unfamiliar places I use Google Maps.

@JackPedigo I am familiar with the layout of Seattle, or I was. I lived in the area.... wow the two year old I moved there with is now 27. I loved Seattle. I worked with maps in the Army and have always loved maps. My grandfather used to keep an atlas handy, and when he'd hear news stories he'd look up the area. We used to track our travels for each of our kids in the Road Atlases, one for each girl. That got to be just way too much work!
