Have any of you experienced feeling lonely and isolated after your deconversion from Christianity to...
HippieChick58 comments on Oct 26, 2021:
My deconversion came after I left the marriage. My kids were already out of the nest. I had a friend that became a roommate for a short time, and he suggested some documentaries that pretty much confirmed my growing misgivings about xianity. Then I found Omaha Humanists, and I am in good company. I have changed jobs several times since then, my lack of faith was never an issue, only a very few knew or know I am an atheist. My current manager is apparently an xian, I have yet to meet her in person, and our limited time with onscreen meeting has not allowed much time for chitchat. As we aren't expected back into the office until after Jan 1, 2022, if then, I'm not going to worry about it. 2 of my kids are atheist, one tries to stay in her dad's good graces... One of the kids is married to a Catholic who did take the kidlets to church. Both of their babies were baptized, and I was there :) Grandpa gives them plenty of religious stories, but I think the other auntie and uncles and me will give a balanced view.

Beautiful! Very bold colors. All my sewing ha been on the back burner until I finish a blanket for my grandson. It is crocheted. For the past several week it has had a home on my sofa because it is way too big for my lap. The good news is yesterday I started finishing the outer edges. I hope to have it done by Thursday, and in the nick of time too because it is starting to get cold. I am looking forward to getting back into my sewing room.

My ex and his new wife came over for dinner and we had a really lovely time.
HippieChick58 comments on Oct 24, 2021:
That is good that you are on good terms with your ex, I think that is a good for your kids if you have any. I see my ex several times a year for extended family things. He is an avid watcher of Fox News, a stalwart Republican, and runs a Xian website. We don't talk much really, and I would never spend time with him without the kids. the kids are good to him, and try to overlook his really outrageous brain farts. He did get vaccinated, so he's not totally gone, but very close to that edge. One of the last times I saw my ex he started filling me in on the tax implication of selling the house we used to live in... He did stop when I asked him if he really thought I cared about that, but really! He has limited social skills.

Quickhatch noun a wolverine.
HippieChick58 comments on Oct 17, 2021:
I had to look further: WHAT IS THE ORIGIN OF QUICKHATCH? Quickhatch “wolverine” is a borrowing of East Cree kwi˙hkwaha˙če˙w, with the spelling and pronunciation altered significantly probably because of association with the similar-sounding yet unrelated words quick and hatch. East Cree belongs to the Algonquian family of languages, and the cognate of kwi˙hkwaha˙če˙w in East Cree’s close relative Montagnais was kwa·hkwa·če·w, which was borrowed into French and became carcajou, another name for the wolverine. Wolverines are also known as gluttons, and while glutton is of Latin origin, it is used as a name for wolverines as a translation of German Vielfrass “eating much.” Quickhatch was first recorded in English in the late 1600s.

As the girls grew older they were "less appreciative" of my talents and the clothing I produced. I hadn't used my serger in a couple years and took it in for cleaning, and it was pretty much dead. For the last 10 or so years I've done mostly home dec stuff, mending, and quilts. I think about replacing the serger once in a while, and then I look at my budget and shake my head. Too many other higher priorities. My sewing machine is less than 10 years old so I'm good to go for a while.
