Watching a storm move in tonight. How many find rain or a thunderstorm sexy to watch?
HippieChick58 comments on Aug 18, 2018:
I love storms! As long as the tornado sirens don't go off, I'm happy to see wild weather. And as long as I don't have to leave the house I'm happy to see blizzards as well.
HippieChick58 replies on Aug 18, 2018:
@jc2018 I have watched numerous tornadoes go by, when I was a kid we used to head for the back yard when the sirens went off. Yeah, my dad was crazy. I had hail damage to my roof a few years ago. I know a couple of storm chasers. I'm not quite that crazy.

@Besalbub With the advent of You Tube you should be able to find some cooking classes online, or go to the library and pick up some beginner cookbooks. Cooking is another thing I learned at home. There were 6 kids, we were all cooking and helping in the kitchen from an early age. I don't remember not cooking. That is how I raised my kids as well.

HippieChick58 replies on Aug 18, 2018:
I think Home Ec needs to be taught to EVERYONE, and shop and auto classes as well. We are raising a generation of ignorant kids. Sewing is necessary and easy, not gender specific. I wish my dad had taught his daughters to take care of cars. He taught the boys but us girls would have husbands to do that. My ex doesn't like to get his hands dirty.

HippieChick58 comments on Aug 17, 2018:
I love guacamole! I loathe peas and lima beans. I don't like really spicy food, no sriracha sauce for me.
HippieChick58 replies on Aug 18, 2018:
@jc2018 Sriracha was common in Thailand, and when US forces were stationed there and came back to the US they asked for the Military Commissary system to obtain it. And that is how Sriracha got introduced to the US. My ex loved it, he was stationed in Thailand before we met. We always had it at home, so my kids grew up with it around. My middle daughter would make Mac and cheese with Sriracha. Other than that she's an awesome woman. I keep sriracha in my house just for times they are here for dinner.

My job. It is a tough job, and I am dealing with people who are stressed/hurt. I work in Short Term Disability claims. The case load is high, and I'm just not fast or efficient enough to keep up. So many variables. So much that can go wrong. Some of the stuff wakes me up at night. I wake up reading medical records, or trying to make phone calls. Then the current news scene doesn't help, but compounded with my job, it is overwhelming. We have a fairly large turn over in staff because it is a tough job. I can see the stress on my coworkers faces. Some folks can handle it, some not so much.

I wore hand me downs most of my life, some from my brothers and some from older cousins. We went without a lot.
