Not too hot. The enzymes that fight allergies in honey will die at over 110°. I eat a teaspoon of raw local honey every day (well almost) and I have gotten off all allergy meds most of the year. About 5 days in spring I will take Benadryl to calm the sneezies and help me sleep.

I have been to Auschwitz and the Holocaust Museum in DC. Very moving, saddening, but so crucial to understand it. My kids (19 and 22 at the time) chose the museum when we were in DC. I was so proud of them.

My nephew is 30, he has Cystic Fibrosis. Of course that is a pre-ex, he was born with it. Since he aged off his dad's health insurance his parents have been paying for his coverage. It isn't cheap, but he is hospitalized at least once a year, if not more often. We need Medicare for all.

@Storybook I am directionally challenged at the best of times. If I am going someplace new I will use google maps, and if I am leaving an unfamiliar place after dark I will use it. It is also handy for showing the fastest route, which as I am an impatient driver is very good. I also have an old Garmin GPS in my car as back up. I love my Google Maps.

@jlynn37 No, that was not what I meant to convey. If you continually do not get validation then I think it adds to mental illness. Children who grow up in abusive homes for example. Did you ever see "Mommy Dearest"? Children especially, but we all need positive feedback. My previous job, when we screwed up they made sure we knew and management did not go to bat for us. Current job, when we screw up we're coached on what we did wrong and what would have likely worked better. Lots of positive feedback.

My kids are 26 to 33, I am 60. A few years ago they "strongly suggested" that I date someone at least closer to my age than to the age of my oldest. So, doing the math, someone not more than 13 years younger than I am. I'm comfortable with that. On the high side, depends on how well they have aged.

If their suggestion was outrageous I'd have shut them down, but I thought it was reasonable and pretty much in line with my thinking. They're going to be my caretakers as I get older, no sense in pissing them off now.

I'm drinking my coffee quickly before I head out the door. It is usually the last thing I do before I grab the keys. I can feel the caffeine hit before (usually) I hit heavy traffic, and the mood boost is probably why I don't have a felony conviction for motor vehicle manslaughter.

@Shelton When I was in Okinawa my boss told me he'd gone out on a fishing boat in the East China Sea for the day. At the end of the day his face and arms felt funny. My boss was one of the darkest men I knew. He ended up with a sunburn. He was totally grossed out when it started to peel. I on the other hand had at least one sunburn per year for 15 or 20 years, I was familiar with the burn and peel cycle. I have scars from 2nd degree sunburn.

I feel much the same way. I only read news sites when I'm not feeling anxious, which is not very often which annoys me. I also come here often because we can share so much here. I feel safe here. I hang with my kids, they always lift me up. I try to get enough sleep even when I have to use sleep aids. And then I go hug on my kitties. Yeah, this is a really hard time to get through.
Has anyone ever felt unworthy of love? I can't shake this feeling.

@Lukian Since I had explicitly mentioned what I wanted, it just pissed me the hell off. That was our method, I'd mark things in catalogs that I'd like as gifts, and then he'd go from there. Occasionally our girls would help him out, and at that time they were all older than 15. He had to have known my opinion of his website. We argued about it for years. And his poetry sucked. The marriage was pretty much dead, that was about the second to the last nail. Which is why despite the hard times post divorce I'm so better off without him.

to my late former MIL's credit she always asked me for specifics, and as they got older (both the kids and them) they just sent cash and asked me to arrange things. They were very generous. And then the kids said to hell with you buying gifts, just give us the cash!

January 13, 2021 My newest and smallest grandchild. She arrived 5 weeks early and is now 2.5 weeks old and is less than 7 pounds. I've never held such a small baby before. She is quite perfect and very amazing. I love being a Grammy.
