Beside not every HS/College student is going to have to take care of an aging parent or other relative. My siblings and I didn't have to. My sister and I dealt with planning a funeral for a relative, we knew she wanted cheap. It was so hard to persuade the funeral home to stop showing us the Cadillacs and drop down to the Ford line.

@FrayedBear Considering the liability of the restaurant and our litigious happy society, I can't see restaurants wanting to take that chance. When I'm out to dinner with my adult kids the phones are put away and we are engaged with each other. When I'm the baby sitter I know my kids have their phones on. I don't need an app or a business to tell me how to behave as a responsible adult. What if the moon IS made of green cheese, I think we settled that when we brought moon rocks back to earth. To discipline means to teach, and I happen to think that spanking is a poor form of teaching. When my kids needed to be taught a lesson I got creative and let the punishment fit the crime. I can't say I never dusted any britches, I'd usually find some thing they hated to do as punishment. I remember one vacation that they kept everyone awake. I gave them pads of paper, pencils and a bible (we were xian's at the time) and I made them write verses over and over again. My middle daughter still tells me that was the meanest thing I ever did. I was involved with my kids and never had to beat them. They are fabulous adults today.

@lerlo The children were brought into the world with the understanding we both wanted to be parents. We decided together the time was right to have a child. For our second and third living children I knew my rhythms so well I actually asked my ex after we went to bed "do you wanna make a baby?" and we made a baby that night. Because of travel/vacation schedules that was the only time it could have happened. So we were both committed to having another child. Were the children just mine, no. My ex was and still is a committed father. However, had we not been married and not been committed to having children and being a family I would never have had children with him. I controlled my fertility, it did not control me. I never had a pregnancy that was not wanted, and I only had one that truly was not planned.

@lerlo What kind of fantasy is this? Let me tell you how I lived my reproductive life. When I was young and foolish, I was at least smart enough to know I was in no position to care for a child. I used birth control pills. I was a woman in the Army in the late 70s and early 80s, those were crazy times. Yes, I was sexually active. Then I was married for many years and had babies when the time was right. I now have three adult daughters. I brought them all up understanding their bodies. When we thought there was a chance they would be sexually active we made sure they were protected with a good form of birth control. There were NO pregnancies when they were not planned and welcomed. I have two married children who have given me two grandchildren. If YOU want to father a child find a woman who is willing to have your child, but have that discussion before you move forward in the relationship. If you don't want to father a child make sure you are not spilling fertile seed. Not every woman has my ethics.

Ellatynemouth comments on May 20, 2018:
I would say no one has a 'right' to a baby because a human being doesn't belong to anyone. The rest becomes an issue of morality and practicality. I would say this... A man does not have the right to a baby in a woman's body. A man does have some right to a baby in a woman's body if he ...

@BettyColeman Cooking for one is generally not much fun, and I'm pretty frugal. I'd rather take my own lunch than take my luck at in the lunch room. Salads are easy, and healthy. During the winter it is soup or casseroles.
I thought this in a way was kind of sad, how many of you think it is?

I'm not sure why I hadn't thought to buy a pack and play, but now that there are two babies it makes sense. She chased kitties, she started my robovac up and it scared her and she ran from it! We had a good time, she's at a fun age.
