Actually it seems that patients frequently tell docs what they want in their medical records. I read many pages of medical records daily and often time the docs make note that the patient tells them they want this or that, and then the doc gives her or his own assessment of the situation. This is why patients do not often see their own chart notes. I work in disability claims and many times the chart notes generate an "are you kidding me?" response. Those I like to send to the clinical staff to review.

I don't know if disbarring is the punishment under HIPAA, certainly fines should apply. But it is so convoluted it is the least of the issues of the day.

I've heard of lots of liberal pastors who say they stick to the "script" because they don 't want to make a mid life career change. It pays the bills and usually isn't horrible work. But seriously it has to just kill you to follow that script when you don't believe.

I went outside 4 times today. To and from the car, once for a quick walk outside at lunch, and once at home to start unloading the winter kill off my deck (one pot, but a big one). Baby steps. I'm also fighting a cold, have an elephant on my chest. Early bedtime tonight, maybe.

OMG, I was corresponding with two "different" men from two different dating sites at the same time. They were using the same pictures, same story, but different names. He/she did not sound at all surprised when I pointed it out. And military, I know too much about the military to be fooled and I know officers talk, they are college educated and must be very literate.

Yeah, but catastrophic coverage. What happens if I get something really horrible, or am in a horrible accident. I work Short Term disability. I've got a claimant that had a minor surgical procedure that was botched and was airlifted to a major trauma center. He will be disabled for a long time, and his insurance ended, they have to go on COBRA. They can't afford it, and it will be a long time til the malpractice suit pays off. That is the stuff of nightmares.

I heard an interview on NPR several years ago about who starts new business ventures. A high percentage of them were people 65 and older...because they now had Medicare and no longer had to prostitute themselves for health care on a job they don't like.
