Helping one group does not immediately preclude the other group from being helped. It's not an either or situation. We are, for the time being, the richest and most powerful nation on earth. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever that we can't help both. And if we truly are the great nation so many of us want to believe we are, we will.

Do you patronize religious businesses or do you avoid?
JeremyTaylor comments on Jun 6, 2018:
I generally don't care one way or the other. If they are using their business as a platform to prostaltyze or otherwise make the experience awkward and uncomfortable I'll try and go elsewhere if possible. Additionally, if they're politicizing their religion to the detriment of others, like Hobby Lobby or Chic-fil-a, I avoid them if at all possible.

Hypothetical: what r ur thoughts if atheists rule the world, would it b a utopia, would wars ...
JeremyTaylor comments on Jun 4, 2018:
I really don't understand why anyone would think that a lack of religion would result in a "utopia". Human beings will latch on to any reason to feel superior to other people. They will then use those reasons as justification to exclude, exploit, hurt, and kill one another. Religion is just one reason among many to make those justifications.
So, what motivates you to check out another member’s profile?
JeremyTaylor comments on Jun 3, 2018:
It's usually one of 3 reasons. 1. I saw something from them (post, comment, ect.) that piqued my interest. 2. They responded to some post or comment I made and I get curious. 3. Completely by accident while fumbling with my phone. Regardless, at this point I'll usually wait for that person to reach out to me if their interested. Literally every single successful interaction I've had with online dating has come from the woman making the first move.
What do you find most ridiculous about worship?
JeremyTaylor comments on Jun 3, 2018:
To be clear, I don't find worship inherently ridiculous. I have no problem with someone with a different belief system then mine finding comfort and purpose through acts of worship. For me, it's the human quirks in the systems that confound me. Such as tradition for the sake of tradition. When the only argument for doing something a certain way is because that's how it's always been done, I just can't accept that.
I'm addicted to Supernatural and I don't feel bad about it.

Do you believe all religions are the same, or that some are worse than others?
JeremyTaylor comments on May 31, 2018:
Some are absolutely worse then others. Scientology, for example, flatly denies that mental health problems actually exist. They say any psychological issues can be healed through their "technology", and will actively try and stop someone from getting medication for such issues. And that's just the tip of the iceberg for that horrid cult. So yes, some systems of faith are fairly benign, but others can be actively harmful to the practitioners, and even outsiders to the faith.
Responses to messages from someone (opposite sex) that your not interested in:.
JeremyTaylor comments on May 30, 2018:
I have always preferred the direct, but polite, approach on either side of the issue. If I message someone and they're not interested I'd rather they just say so. I do the same thing on my end. I feel like ignoring someone is just rude. That said, this is all predicated on the correspondence being civil and polite on both both ends. If the communication is rude or degrading I'll drop it like it's hot.
I'm currently using Hulu to catch up on some shows.
JeremyTaylor comments on May 30, 2018:
12 monkeys is good. One of the better time travel shows out there. I really, really love The Expanse and am so glad Amazon saved it. Westworld is fascinating. Runaways on hulu was quite good. A different take on the superhero genre. Black Lighting on the CW (1st season should be on Netflix by now) was actually really good. It feels like a mature adult show, but not in the sense those words normally mean for entertainment. It's mature and adult in the way that mature adults actually are not just in the "not for kids" way usually associated with the terms. Brooklyn 99 has one of the best ensembles on tv right now. Trial and Error is a "true crime" show as a comedy. 1st season has John Lithgow as the defendant he's brilliantly funny as he's ever been. The Good Place manages to combine some esoteric philosophy, heavy discussions of morality and a heavily serialized story into some of the funniest 22 minute episodes on modern television. If you've managed to make it this far without knowing any of the plot twists or mysteries don't research the show or you'll get spoiled. Just watch and enjoy. After a rocky first season Agents of Shield has become a fantastic serialized adventure show. They've done some truly amazing arcs. iZombie is a nice twist on the zombie genre where the main character is a zombie. It's actually a pretty well done metaphor for living with both a life changing disease and mental illness. And she fights crime to boot. There was a time when Person of Interest was the best scifi show on television. It's still one of my all time favorites. I could go on for a while more but that will do for now.
What hair color of the opposite sex are you more attracted to ?
JeremyTaylor comments on May 29, 2018:
Every hair color, both natural and artificial, has its appeal. For me though, what I really like is long hair, regardless of color. I'm not opposed to short hair, mind you, it can look quite good as well. But there is just something about a woman with long hair that just hits all the right buttons for me. The longer the better! ?
Describe yourself in one word. Mine would be "fun".

What’s your favorite podcast?
JeremyTaylor comments on May 27, 2018:
It's hard to pick a single favorite. Here's a few of my top choices. Campaign Podcast: A hysterical Star Wars actual play that plays out like 3 Men & a Baby in space. Backstory: An American history podcast hosted by actual history professors. Ars Paradoxica: A woman accidentally invents time travel and gets stuck in the 1940s were she ends up helping America fight the war with SCIENCE! Alice Isn't Dead: A trucker travels across America looking for her wife who she thought died and gets drawn into a surreal supernatural conspiracy along the way. Criminal: True crime stories about people that have done wrong, been wronged, or gotten caught in the middle. Flashforward: A podcast that posits a different "what if" future tech/science scenario each episode and talks to experts to figure out what would actually happen. Our Fair City: A post apocalypse scifi comedy centered around people living in one of the last bastions of civilization, an insurance company. Sawbones: A doctor and ner husband take you on a "marital tour of misguided medicine" and talk about the things people used to belive would make them better. Invisiblia: A show about the invisible forces that control our lives. Girl in Space: Follows the life of a young woman who has lived most of her life all alone on failing research ship and how she handles suddenly not being alone.
If you became famous, would you enjoy all the attention or miss your privacy?
JeremyTaylor comments on May 26, 2018:
I wouldn't mind some midlevel fame. I just wouldn't want the superstar level of fame that isolates you from living anything even resembling a normal life. If I could get a level of fame that only resulted in a couple people a day stopping me to take a picture I think I could live with that.
Any roleplayers or board gamers out there? I am totally both. What do you play?
JeremyTaylor comments on May 26, 2018:
I'll play just about anything at least once. Boardgame wise my preference is for games under 2 hours, with the 1 mark being the sweet spot for me. I'm currently really into Lords of the Underdark, Sentinels of the Multiverse, Android: Mainframe, Colt Express, Sherlock and Mycroft, Robo Rally, and a few others I'm sure I am forgetting. I love Rpg's as well, though I don't get to play nearly as often as I'd like. My current favorite is Fantasy Flights line of Star Wars Rpg's. They are a blast. I've also played and enjoyed 7th Sea, Deadlands, Pathfinder, It Came From the Late Late Late Show, Paranoia, Shadowrun, Call of Cthulhu to name a few.
What would be an appropriate gift when meeting a woman for the first time?
JeremyTaylor comments on May 25, 2018:
When I flew down to Texas at the beginning of the year to meet a woman I'd been chatting online with I brought an USB drive filled with episodes of a show she likes but had been unable to watch due to no cable. It also had about 5 other series I thought she'd like. I also brought her kids a bunch of old video games I wasn't using anymore. Both of these were a big hit. I had also shipped some other gifts ahead of my visit of a more adult nature. These too were big hits. The bottom line though is that these were all well received because I had been paying attention during the two months of dialogue preceding my trip. I got things I knew she was into and excited about. Think back on your past conversations and the answer will reveal itself.
How long do you have to know someone before you tell a dirty joke?
JeremyTaylor comments on May 24, 2018:
First things first, if you have a good dirty joke to share don't hold out on us. Depending on what level of friendship your aiming for, it can take between 50-340 hours to become friends with someone, according to a recent study. https://www.inc.com/eric-mack/heres-how-many-hours-it-takes-to-make-a-friend-according-to-science.html If you'd rather not take that much time here's a few pointers that have always worked for me. Though it's worth noting that my humor is derived very much in the moment and plays off my current conversation/scenario. 1. Pay attention. This is the foundation and should be considered to go hand in hand with all other points. Some people will make it real clear pretty quickly what their tolerance for such anecdotes is. 2. Test the waters. Start small and build to the more risque stuff slowly. Coupled with point 1 this will help you find the line fairly easily. 3. Bring it back around. Try to find a way to use their own words from an earlier point in the conversation to fuel the joke. (Point 1 will help you here.) It helps ease any potential discomfort and makes most jokes more palatable if they had a hand in helping you craft it. 4. If needed, apologize. Always be prepared to offer a sincere apology if you find that you crossed the line with this person. It may not be immediately apparent that you have done so, which is why point 1 comes back into play. Not everyone will make it plain that you've made them uncomfortable so pay attention to the aftermath and apologize accordingly.
How do you respond when someone says, "have a blessed day."?
JeremyTaylor comments on May 23, 2018:
It's simply another way of saying "Have a good day." Given that, how could I be anything but polite? Just because I don't ascribe to a belief system that lends itself to such phrasing doesn't mean I can't appreciate the sentiment. My typical response is something along the lines of "And you as well."
Thoughts on "things happen for a reason"
JeremyTaylor comments on May 23, 2018:
In the sense that every effect has a cause I agree with the statement. But generally speaking that's not how people mean it when they say it. Usually this phrases use falls into one of two categories: right after some unexpected upheaval in a person's life or right after some unexpected boon in a person's life that has also seen some upheaval. The first use is well intentioned enough, it's meant as a reassurance that the problem is temporary and that the outcome will end up being positive. The second use is also meant assure but to me often feels like a reaffirmation to the speaker that they were right to say it the first time. I try to take both in the spirit they're intended, as harmless platitudes. That said I do not care for the lack of agency this phrase implies. We have so little control in our lives anyway I hate to surrender even a tiny portion.
Am I the only one who finds jealously to a degree completely pointless?
JeremyTaylor comments on May 21, 2018:
No emotion is pointless. They all serve a purpose. The problem is we rarely draw the right conclusions from our emotional states, and this doubly true for those emotions percieved as being negative. Jealousy is almost never about the other person. It is usually a sign of some unhappiness or insecurity in our own lives that we have projected outward. Once you can recognize this it's easier to address the real problem.
Do religious curse words perpetuate religion?
JeremyTaylor comments on May 21, 2018:
Only in the sense that scatological and urological cuss words perpetuate those bodily functions
So, I created a Twitter account. Who should I follow?

Which day of the week is your favorite?
JeremyTaylor comments on May 19, 2018:
I work in hospitality so the weekend is usually my busiest time at work. My schedule can vary from week to week as well so it's hard have one day consistently be my favorite. That said I'd probably pick Thursday since that's the day I'm most likely to meet my friends for games at the local shop.
Does anyone else find small talk or talking exhausting.
JeremyTaylor comments on May 19, 2018:
Small talk can be boring and tedious, or it can be an opportunity to gain some insight. As with most things in life, it depends on how you handle it.

When it comes to being in a committed relationship, how important is open honesty & trust to you?
JeremyTaylor comments on May 16, 2018:
Trust is of paramount importance. So is open honesty. So if my wife/girlfriend honestly tell me that they have some things they need or want to keep private I'll trust that they have their reasons.
This has always been an interesting subject for me.
JeremyTaylor comments on May 16, 2018:
In my experience there are 2 kinds of people when it comes to practicing faith. The cloak wearers and the club weilders. The cloak wearers wrap themselves in their faith for protection and comfort. And while it's clear to anybody that bothers to look that they are wearing a cloak, it's mostly a personal matter and rarely trips anyone else up. And if they see someone in need of comforting they will offer to extend the cloaks protection to them and share in its warmth. The club weilders see their faith as a weapon to be brought to bare at the slightest provocation. They never feel safe unless everyone else is cowering before their club. They bludgeon others into submission and never stop waving their club's around, oblivious to all the collateral damage their causing as the try and force others to follow their tenets. It may seem that the club weilders are more numerous but I believe they're just louder. It's part of their nature to drown out others. The cloak wearers are out there, they're just less boastful, carrying on quietly. We need more people with this personal view of faith.
I never understood the statement, "I want to give back.
JeremyTaylor comments on May 15, 2018:
Giving back is a common parlance to express the gratitude some feel for the opportunities they've recieved that have helped them in their life and the desire to create similar opportunities for others. Honestly, it's a mindset that should be applauded. Even if think someone is doing purely for selfish reasons like praise or publicity, the core message of "giving back" is "I didn't get this far on my own." It's a recognition of the role society can play in our own success.

Were you happier as a believer or non-believer?
JeremyTaylor comments on May 15, 2018:
Happiness, for me, has never really been derived from my beliefs as they relate to higher powers. I'm no more or less happy with my current beliefs (which are pretty firmly set in the "we can't be sure one way or the other" camp) then I was when I was a devout Christian. You might as well ask me if I was happier before or after I was taught the Earth is round. For me, outlook and circumstance have always been the biggest factors in determining my overall happiness.
Bucket list. Name one thing you want to do before your time comes.
