I too never wanted children. I was always a part of the zero population growth movement. Zero population growth is if you absolutely have to have children have two at the most. I meet so many people that are critical of my decision to not become a parent. I've even lost my last relationship because I don't like kids, and am not family oriented. He felt thats all women were good for , and could not handle one who disliked them.So now I just tell people who hit me with "why don't you have kids?" I tell them i have nothing against goats. Ha! Snow? That's the white cotton looking white stuff right? I live in n.c. we get it once or twice a year. We did have a snowfall of 25 inches a decade or so ago. The state was declared in a state of emergency and made national news. We had to have volunteers from neighboring areas dig us out. We do get freezing rain though.

No, after my husband died i went through a stage of self reflection and grief for years. I had to be brutally honest with myself. I lost a lot of myself in the 22 year marriage. I also realized being happily alone and doing my own thing has a rather short life span. Life is hard, and finding a helpmate to share it with is healthy. The desire to be loved is part of the human experience, and something we all long for. While it does not have to be a romantic partnership, the human animal needs a connection to others.

Speaking for myself only, as someone who is looking for a partner , I would say more So in some ways. perhaps it's not racism, but I'm guilty of over generalizing african American and hispanics/latino men. I find most of them too religious, traditional and family oriented for me. Perhaps it's just negative experiences ive had with them on dating sites.

I'm sorry you are going through this. This disease is horrible. It never goes away. I live with a recovering alcoholic, and everyday is a struggle for him. I walk on eggshells and I may have to ask him to leave. Good luck, and make sure to take care of yourself first. If she refuses to get help recovering you may have to leave. The number 1 thing to learn from the group is how to NOT be an enabler and keep her locked into her disease.

Unfortunately as with everything it's open to interpretation. Also, unfortunately, some of us are ridiculously over sensitive. There are no iron-clad definitions as of yet. For me, if a man makes me feel threatened, and his bad intent is obvious he crossed the line. I've had men (recently) tell me I had nice tits, show their dick to me and I was 12 years old had an older man who would stare me down and tell me he wanted to teach me how to kiss. As an agnostic and a Unitarian I appreciate fellowships and churches. Very often times they serve as a wonderful support system for people. I've also noticed many African Americans are deeply religious. It's not easy being a minority. Perhaps the church offers the feeling of hope in a ,so often, hopeless world.
