I agree with you. I think the Earth is tougher than we give her credit for. I've head a lot of people talk about humanity causing the end of the world...bullshit. The human race is a bad case of acne on the face of the planet and nothing more. We can't end the world. We can make it uninhabitable for ourselves, but our planet will be here long after humanity is gone.

I think that a good deal of our difficulty in handling intense emotions like grief is because our society is so shallow and superficial that most of us, myself included, are not equipped to deal with it. People say stupid, but well meaning things to distract from the grief. I think that the best thing that I can do for someone who is grieving is to shut the fuck up and listen to them. I really don't know what else I can do to help.

I just had a long, stupid day. What do you do to unwind and relax?

I think that we all have little things that are important to us individually and attractiveness can be subjective. It's nice to be around someone that looks nice, it gets old really fast if that person has a shitty personality.

What goes through my mind depends on the context. If someone says that to me but it is obvious that the person really wishes me well I take it positively. If it's condescending I might say something like "Good for you!"

Macbeth. In many good stories the hero starts out vulnerable and grows wiser, stronger, and more virtuous as the story progresses. It is the opposite in Macbeth. He starts out as a loyal soldier for his King and devolves into a villain with no qualms about murdering anyone who gets in his way.

My family pushed me into born again Christianity, but I never bought into it. For a while Iw was a practicing Jew. I still look at Christianity is more annoying.

I'm sorry to hear that. It might be worth reaching out to her, but it's obviously a risk. I was exceptionally lucky with my mom. She did not always like or accept what I did, but I knew that she always loved me. She has been gone for over two years now and I still miss her. If you can patch things up with her it would be great, but that is something that you will have to do together. Good luck.
