I do. Had both kids, never felt labor. Everyone says "oh, you're so lucky." No, I barely made it in time the second child and he had the cord around his neck three times and it was knotted. We're lucky he's here and not damaged. I had a hole in my colon, didn't know it, went to the ER because of a 104 temperature that would not go down with NSAIDs. Doc in ER asked me if I wanted morphine, so I asked why I'd be wanting that? He'd stuck his finger into it through the abdomen. It never hurt. I refused meds. I got teeth drilled regularly without novocaine including crowns put on. I have to use a splint at night for grinding because I don't feel the pain when I do like most. TMJ is permanent damage. I have to be very careful because I don't always know that I'm hurting myself until there is a blood. There are permanent ramifications as you've noted. My left big toe is an artificial joint, carpal tunnel surgery after the entire arm went numb and on and on. I'm the only one in the family.

Sorry for your loss. Lost my dad at the start of the pandemic...he had to be one of the first patients because of the pics of his lungs that the docs said they didn't know what THAT was. A couple months later they did. I basically raised my own damn self. Neither was interested in me or my brother unless it was dispensing criticism and blaming us for everything in their own lives. Life is getting over the grieving of what could have been. I got over that a while back but I've created my own family between my kids and friends. I will say one thing, my brother and I both decided without talking to each other to NOT follow the example of our parents. I got it somewhat worse than he did in verbal abuse. He was older than I was when we moved to the country and he would escape uptown to his friends and wouldn't come home until dark. A bit dangerous to ride a bicycle in the dark but the parents didn't care. Mom is religious...hence why I'm not. Her logic on many things just made NO sense. Mom spent her entire life between her job and doing events, etc. at church. She says she has no idea why her kids moved away from her and don't bother coming around. I know she's lonely but it's not my job to fix that for her. I've told her why we left and won't go back. She chooses not to believe me. Sorry that you're having to do all that work. I've prepared my kids....I've got everything in writing, prepaid expenses for my disposal, my daughter has a signed and notarized copy and everything is in my computer of which she has the password and a file with her name on it with everything she needs. She's a lawyer, so she's prepared.

I do what I want when I want, I cook whatever I feel like instead of someone whining why are we having cabbage steaks for dinner, nothing ever gets messed up or moved. The bills are paid, the ex used to buy a TON of beer but I rarely drink. If I change my mind about an activity or schedule, nobody complains! And the cat only gets the part of the bed that I allow her to use. The rest is mine! Temperature is where I am comfortable, I can take up as much "space" as I want and afford.

I had a bicycle, both folks worked, we lived in the stix. It was my job to get myself to eye doc appts, etc after school--a few miles to get into town. To go spend the day with my aunt in the summer, I went across a four lane divided highway on said bicycle. One summer my cousins got the big idea to take our bikes to a town 17+ miles away and get ice cream. We got there and home very late. Dangerous roads including highways were traveled to get there. I was the only girl and the youngest....about 8-9 if I remember right and boy was I tired. Times were different in the very early 70's.
