What do you do to look better in photos? Apart from turning your back.

Just when you thought "For Pay Prisons" were the worst of people, now this! :-@
Lavergne replies on Oct 10, 2018:
@Simon1 some people just laugh and think I'm nuts when I say that....but they figured out a while back that for-profit prisons are a HUGE moneymaker for them. And if you start incarcerating everyone who gets picked up for possession - never mind any real serious drug charges - and if they go back to giving everyone those really stiff sentences....there have already been cases of judges found to be complicit in giving unduly long sentences because they were shareholders in one of the for profit prison corporations. This is the kind of sneaky, quiet thing that no one pays attention to until it blows up in everyone's face. You really think - after everything Sessions has said - that they won't tell the federal DEA agents to go in and drop the hammer on the states that have legalized pot for recreation (first) and then go after the medical use states as well? the only reason it isn't happening now is because Obama/Holder basically said to leave the states alone to deal with it internally and individually - but make no mistake. Its all still illegal on the federal level.
I think we're all in desperate need of a VIRTUAL Friday night party. Who's with me?
Lavergne comments on Oct 10, 2018:
Sounds like you need to build that bonfire, put on a pot of chili and invite anyone who's in driving range to come and share it with you. It is definitely the season for it! :)
Lavergne replies on Oct 10, 2018:
@ProudMary ohhhh..... I gotcha now. Well, you can still have the bonfire and the chili....and we'll all "drink" along with you - each in our respective little spots in the universe.
We need Universal Healthcare.

Just when you thought "For Pay Prisons" were the worst of people, now this! :-@
Lavergne replies on Oct 10, 2018:
The for profit prison system is one of the things they are really going to expand - combined with Sessions' declaration that marijuana is a gateway drug and should remain a felony - you can see where this is going. With the benches stacked with right leaning judges, we're going to take a giant step backwards (I'm afraid) and up being the largest penal colony in the western hemisphere.
I like this type of book !

@VAL3941 My boss had terrible grammar and spelling issues - so for Christmas one year I got him a book called "The Comma Sutra". He got so embarrassed when he unwrapped it - he almost climbed under the conference table. Duh......... I had to expain it to him.

When I was a child, my German grandfather would slice up those huge white radishes and salt them and then put them on pumpernickel bread and sweet butter.

yes - I agree with you. I feel it and see it and hear it everywhere. The hatred that is fueling this tribalism is going to get worse until some spark ignites it and that's a very scary and depressing thought. They are now saying the only way the Dems can win anything is to go further to the left - that might be true - but won't that increase the divide even more?

@Trajan61 You say he will make a great judge....and the only thing you have to base that on is what he has said and done in the past 12 + years which appears to show that he is strongly biased on certain issues and allows that bias to color his judicial decisions. That is, most assuredly, not the makings of a good judge. A really good judge puts his own personal opinions aside and adjudicates from a nonpartisan position. What you are really saying is "he will be a good judge because he thinks like I do and will rule accordingly"...........

Lavergne replies on Oct 7, 2018:
Yes - I agree - definitely needs to be checked out. Sometimes well meaning people will take a cat in - thinking its a stray - and keep it confined indoors for several days. Also - cats are notorious for getting themselves locked into storage sheds, crawl spaces, etc - they will fight like crazy to try to get out which might explain his injuries. Poor baby....hope he fully recovers.

Hard not to see us sinking into a shithole. Beyond that, our "new NAFTA" while making some positive changed was more a big win for Big Pharma and Dairy companies, not the small farmers. And it gives a raise to Mexican auto workers, while ensuring stuck wages at Southern U.S. car manufacturers.

Should prostitution be legal?
Beowulfsfriend comments on Oct 5, 2018:
Yes. A well regulated system would 1) help protect those who choose to participate and drastically reduce sex trafficking 2) reduce the prevalence of STD's. And of course 3) piss off hypocritical evangelicals.
