It is a very new word, dating only from the late 1980s and is a mix of Phobia ancient Greek for Fear and Kouloon the modern Greek word for Clown, simply being a hellenisation of the English word clown, the actual Greek word for clown is sklêro-paiktês (hard player or fun fighter). There maybe some connection to khleuazo an obscure Greek term meaning to be impudent.

Opinions like all else should be evidence based, if an opinion is based on false premises, or prejudices, then they can be wrong and or evil and should for the sake of truth be opposed and contested. If an opinion is based upon verifiable facts it should be accepted as factual. However if someone simply yells "That is my opinion and I am entitled to it." about any old load of tosh such as creationism, racial superiority or prejudice, then they are misusing the term opinion. They are entitled to choose to believe whatever they want to, they are not entitled to pass it off as factual, axiomatic or even valid, or to force other people to believe it or even claim it as an opinion.
