Yessssss. I used to love that song, until all the truth came out about serial child molester Gary Glitter who wrote one of the three songs this record is a mash up of (Rock and Roll part 2 (by Glitter), Blockbuster, and the Doctor Who theme.) Now I cannot listen to it anymore.

No western, despite it's many faults, has ever moved me like "High Noon" Franky Lanes performance of the theme tune is quintessentially what the western themes evolved from, so much so he was brought back years later to do the theme for Blazing Saddles a parody theme that none the less ranks up there with the greatest cowboy themes ever.

What religious people call a soul is a desperate personification of self that is separate from the physical born of a desperate fear of death and reality. What musicians call soul is the powerful essence of passion able to be written or played in to and derived from truly emotional music and musical performance. The former is a delusion, the latter is real.

Unregulated Capitalism will do that for you. Just as unregulated socialism will lead to exactly the same thing, only with different patois. The trick is to balance the respect for the society en mass with respect for the individual person, make neither above the law nor be oppressed by it. The strong should protect the weak, but the weak should support the strong. From each a duty of care, to each the same. For every right, let their be a responsibility, for every duty to the state a benefit from.
There were three guys talking in the pub.
LenHazell53 comments on Dec 21, 2018:
That reminds me of the story of three men complaining about being henpecked and bullied by their wives. The genial barman smiled and told them "You know why I have no problem with my wife?" he asked. They all shook their heads "I just do exactly what ever she tells me all the time." The three men thought about this and decided to give it ago. The next night the three men returned to the bar, one covered in soot and smoking, one wringing wet and the other sitting quietly. "You and your stupid advice!" snarls the wet man at the barman. "What happened?" the bar keep asked. "Last night I went home, got in and asked the missus if there was anything she wanted, she says *Oh go jump in a lake* I just got back from Michigan and she's left me." The guy with the smoldering hat and soot covered face, said "I got home last night and decided to make supper, I'm a bit tipsy, but capable, the wife comes in the kitchen and yells, *That's it, burn the house down!* Well now I'm homeless and she has left me." The Barman looks at the thirds guy, "how about you pal?" "I went home last night," he said. "The wife was in bed, so I undressed and climbed in beside her, and started to make advances, and she said *You can cut that out*....you ever seen one of these before lads..."

Question about logical fallacies: I've been thinking that in a lot of the policy and government ...
LenHazell53 comments on Dec 17, 2018:
Politicians use logical fallacies because upon the uneducated they work really well. On the whole they seem to appeal to "common sense" fear based prejudices, and laziness. Pointing out the fallacious nature of such arguments will often be overwhelmed in the eyes of the audience by the presumed intellectual superiority of the politician. This the same reason flat earth propagators are so popular these days.

Are women less ethical than men?
LenHazell53 comments on Dec 16, 2018:
Are some people less ethical than other people ... yes if judged subjectively against a commonly held standard of ethical behaviour within a culture or society. Is one generalisation less ethical than another generalisation, impossible to say without a common definition of ethics applicable to both, or an agreed quantifiable scale of ethical behaviour to use as a frame of reference in such a particular case.

LenHazell53 comments on Dec 13, 2018:
She is not a "Poor woman" in any sense. She is Prime Minister, she not only chose to be prime minister she fought to be Prime minister. "Would we be saying "The that poor man" if it were still Cameron at no.10? No we would be calling him incompetent and negligent which he was. I care not if the prime minister is male female or a transvestite wombat called Euphemia Brian Fumblebuck, so long as they do the job they asked for, are well paid for and were elected to do. There is no need for gender politics, and has has been rightly pointed out it is parliament that is supposed to run the country, with government as their representative and the Prime Minister as the titular head. Not a dictatorship, not a cult of personality and not an elected monarch. We have fought for equality in this country for all "subjects" (and we are still technically subjects not citizens) so it is a bit hypocrytical to play the gender card when the going gets a bit rough or a lot rough as in this case. Mrs. May botched it, the buck stops on her desk, she should suck it up, apologise and then either deal with it like a grown ass politician or have the good graced to resign.

What is the worst Christmas present you ever received? I once got some shoe inserts.
LenHazell53 comments on Dec 9, 2018:
My Father always treated Christmas as a competition, to give the least possible and get the most possible. During my first marriage I had very little money at all, (I found out later my late first wife was spending most of our money on "Mary Jane" if you know what I mean), so Christmas presents tended to be small but I hope thoughtful. My Father at the time sold work wear supplies off a van along with nuts bolts and fasteners. So that Christmas my brother got a pair of blue sued beetle crushers he had been hassling for and when I too was give a shoe box shaped present along with a maliciously gleeful smile I knew the old fell was up to something. (It brought to mind the year I got a camera he wanted and the years I was given a train set I was not allowed to play with because I would break it). Sure enough I opened the box and found a pair of steel toe cap work boots he was giving away free as a promotion with purchases over £100, two sizes too big. I went eyes wide let a big grin come over my face and hugged him enthusiastically, all the time enthusing about "how did you know? Dis C. (my wife) tell you?" and "Wow, this is so great, I'm doing warehouse work at work at the moment and need some “toe tectors” but couldn't afford them. Thanks so much!" and "Great even the right size to fit over my thermal fishermen's socks" I put them on, walked around all day in them smiling and never missed an opportunity to say thanks again and how great they were. When we got home that night C. called me all the bastards under the sun, and griped about how she had had to bite her lip all day to stop herself laughing.
Holy Horrors: Religious slaughter through the centuries
LenHazell53 comments on Dec 9, 2018:
Interestingly the most terrible massacre of the RC ever performed is missed out again here. The extermination of the Cathars in the The Albigensian Crusade 1208 to 1244, where over 100,000 Cathars and sympathisers were systematically slaughtered burned, in the worlds first example of human genocide. The worst example being the Lanquedoc destruction of the town of Béziers where every man woman and child was slaughtered without mercy on 22nd of July 1209 (St. Mary Magdalene's day” for refusing to give up 200 Cathar preachers living peacefully in the town 3000 souls. This incident provided the inquisitors with their moto, for when asked by the crusader knights how to tell Cathars from Christians the Abbot in charge declared "Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius" **Kill them all, God will know his own** When the Cathars were all dead, the inquisition remained and turned their attention to other "Heretics", then witches and finally to Jews and Muslims. All in the name of their loving god.

It is because B'nai B'rith bank rolled the Watchtower Society, later renamed the Jehovah's Witness in to existence (proven in court in 1922), this is the reason the Nazi put JWs in to the concentration camps along with Jews gypsies and Homosexuals. Before WW2 the JWs had been a willing front for the Thule and Vril societies moving about the tax free (religiously exempt) money that helped found the Nazi party, when they became publicly associated with a Jewish owned banking concern B'nai B'rith via Kuhn and Loeb Bank, the Nazi's turned on them and instead made a deal with the LDS to funnel untraceable money out of Germany and in to south America via Utah before and after the USA came in to the war.
Is it time to reevaluate behaviours, for all of us?

I'm pretty much of the belief that if we treat everybody with politeness and good manners regardless of anything other than the way they treat others we can all get a long pretty well.
Hi all! Just finished 2 light reads and thought I'd comment on them.
LenHazell53 comments on Dec 7, 2018:
The 2 volume autobiography of Peter Cushing "An Autobiography" and "Past Forgetting" is a fascinating read, and for sheer surreal reality on the secretive life of a true British eccentric I recommend the biography of the Victorian science fiction and fantasy novelist Marie Correlli entitled "Now Barabbas Was a Rotter: The Extraordinary Life of Marie Corelli" by Brian Masters.
Didn’t they used to have a series every year?

Maybe David Tennant will wake up and find River song in the shower at the Library with Donna in the next room and we carry on from there, everything else had been a bad Time Lord dream?
Donald Trump Didn’t Say the Christian Prayer at George H.
LenHazell53 comments on Dec 7, 2018:
Trump is a Presbyterian from a line of the same. Many Presbyterians will not even set foot in a church of any other denomination on pain of excommunication, other will under duress. Some will recite the Apostles creed or the Nicene creed but many will not as they respectively contain the line "We believe in the holy catholic Church," "We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church." Which is considered blasphemous for many of the more fundamentalist Presbyterian denominations. This being the case for once in his misbegotten existence the Trumpster was NOT being a hypocrite.
How do you handle religious strangers in public?
LenHazell53 comments on Dec 7, 2018:
I tend to ignore religious people unless they are proselyting and inflict themselves on me in public, then they get both barrels. If some one says have a blessed day to me, I usually say something like, cheers, or stay safe, reciprocating the sentiment without identifying with any religious connotations. Merry Christmas is something I say in the same way I say good morning. The Christ in Christmas means on more than the Thor in Thursday.

LenHazell53 comments on Dec 7, 2018:
And yet AGAIN we are given one incident out of context with no indication as to how or why such an image came about and what it was meant to illustrate in the over all context of the lecture. This is knee jerk shock journalism about knee jerk reactions from members of other schools within the faculty. Okay the guys political beliefs on dictators (if reported accurately) seem extreme, but his politics are not the subject of his proposed sacking, it is the fact that an illustrative text taken out of context was deemed offensive to a minority. Nazis existed, that is a fact, they stole an ancient symbol and forever tainted it, that is a fact, yes nationalist, especially national socialist doctrine and ideology is offensive and inherently flawed, that is a fact and lead to the holocaust, that is a fact. Saying those facts are unpleasant and upsetting won't make them cease to be facts and won't erase them from history. When I was at university the answer to a contentious point of discussion was to formulate a persuasive counter argument to disprove the original contention. It was NOT to immediately sack the professor and so claim his proposal ceased to exist. That Facts are more important than personal Feeling, is also a valid contention to be discussed. If you feel that statement is wrong, make a valid argument as to why I should listen to you, don't punish the person asking the question because it hurt your feelings to consider it and you have not got the gumption to see the irony in the situation. Sometimes the offensive and unpleasant have to be confronted head on in order to expose them to the light of truth and justice, shooting the messenger will not invalidate the message, no mater how much you want it to. You'll still wake up with the barbarians at the gate, and they won't go away if you just shoot the guard who tells you so.

LenHazell53 comments on Dec 7, 2018:
a nationwide campaign began about a decade ago in the UK against elder abuse of all kinds , violent, sexual, emotional and verbal when it started to come to light how prevalent it was among relatives, carers, nurses etc. So many people are cowards and bullies, it is unbelievable and the elderly especially those with dementia are easy pickings for these pieces of human excrement
