LenHazell53 comments on Sep 20, 2018:
"we lack the capacity to perceive reality beyond our human biologic limitations." Necessarily things that are beyond our physical limitations are irrelevant to us and there for may as well to all intents and purposes NOT exist. They cannot inter-react with us nor we with them, even if they do exist and can be proved to be so by being detected by artificial means they still have no practical impact upon us and therefore have no use. I have heard your contention used to postulate the existence of god. However the potential god it could hypothesize would be nothing like any god of any religion that has ever existed and would be a deity so pointless it might as well be imaginary or non existent.

LenHazell53 comments on Sep 20, 2018:
Part of the problem is that though people stop attending church you cannot actually leave the Catholic Church. A few years ago, a chap in the UK petitioned the church to nullify his baptism and allow him to resign, it turned out the Church had no way to do this other than by excommunication. In the ensuing court battle the RCC was forced to hand over all documentation relating to him "IN THE UK" but could not be compelled to hand over Vatican records of his baptism etc. As far as the RCC is concerned once they've got you, you are their's for life. Apparently even Hitler was still a Catholic up to his death, just a very very bad catholic, who did the church a favour by committing suicide which is a Cardinal sin and ensures the perpetrator goes straight to hell, even though Hitler was never excommunicated (Pius the XII repeatedly refused, because he thought a miffed Hitler might bomb the Vatican)

Do you do voodoo?
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 20, 2018:
It is a myth that cursing by effigy was a voodoo practice, it was spread about as a rumour that this was done in order to equate Voodoo (or Vodou as the earliest spellings have it) In Haiti with European witchcraft in order to discredit and supplant it with Christianity.(In Western magic effigies are used in so called "Poppet magic" a form of sympathetic magic where the image is used to represent the whole, as opposed to homeopathic magic where the part is used to represent the whole as in modern vodou where the doll must contain hair or blood or some other part of the object of the curse, this is from where we get the word puppet) It is a case of Life mirroring art, that Vodou later did incorporated in to itself much from European Witchcraft and ironically from Roman Catholicism seeing it all as part of a greater whole.

Some Brief Thoughts on Time.
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 20, 2018:
Time, space and Motion are the perfect triumvirate as they are simple aspects of energy matter and motion Time/energy acting on Matter/space creates motion for instance throwing a ball Matter/space in motion generates time/energy in the same way all energy is generated by matter in motion and Time/Energy in motion creates space in which to move an example of which is an electric current This follows exactly the same rules as the time, distance and speed calculations Speed is motion equal to the distance traveled divided by the time Distance is space Time is time

Poets created love to sell their poems.
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 18, 2018:
Priests invented marriage in order to corner the market in a service only they could provide, same goes for sin and absolution. Poets were the rock stars of their day until people discovered up beat music. Because rhythmic poetry like up tempo music, provokes sexual arousal and excitement. Poetry was a way to talk about sex in code. Romance in the modern sense was invented to fulfill a need for people trapped in or heading for dead end marriages to hope for something better, more exciting and less humdrum. True love and romance do spring naturally from friendship and companionship, and some great literature has sprung from it, but on the whole it less exciting and escapist than a rollicking tale of forbidden relationships, adultery, revenge and tragic climaxes.

It is a master piece, the scene with creature from the id trapped in the laser fence, scared the hell out of me as a kid. So much of this film was lifted directly in to Star Trek TOS (From the Monologue over the first shots of the ship, to the blaster side arms, ships weaponry and ranks of the protagonists) that it fair to say there would have been no star trek without it

The world has entered a post truth era, facts that are have been supplanted by "alternate facts" that should be true and will be taken as true for the sake of appearances, disregarding logic and practicality for the sake of social acceptability. for example Fact: men and women are physically and emotionally different Desirable Alt fact: men and women are not different in anything but the most superficial accidents of birth and therefore should be treated as if those difference don't exist even if that endangers lives and efficiency.

The Terror from Beyond Space (1958 ) A personal favourite and along with its contemporaries 20 Million Miles to Earth (1957) and The Thing from Another World (1951) a wildly influential Alien Animal movie. The first time the Old Dark House formula was used in Sci-fi, the sense of claustrophobia is palpable and the title is no exaggeration.

Oh for F sake, I am getting sick of this constant victim mentality from everyone, everyone wants a bit of the sympathy pie, because they are men, women, religion, of an ethnicity, gender variation, have an unpopular hair colour, body size, height, or are so without problems that it is a problem. Grow up and deal with it, there are people who are suffering real victimisation in this world and they are DYING, being tortured maimed, imprisoned and being forced to undergo quack medical cures. These are the people who have a right to complain, in our western affluent society, there is greater freedom and tolerance today than there has ever been, if someone thinks they are better than you because of what is dangling between their legs or what colour it is, they are an ass-hole and you are free to tell them so, but if you go running to mummy or big brother crying because you have a boo-boo on your ego, you're as much of an attention hungry fool as they are.

Demonic possession
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 16, 2018:
No such thing, and even in Christian/Jewish mythology demonic possession does not mean being taken over by a demon, the original term Possessed of a Demon comes from Jewish Mythology and means that You have possession of a demon, that is it is enslaved to you. When Solomon built the temple which had to be built without the use of iron or metal, God gave Solomon possession of many demons he could bend to his will to do the construction for him. What is commonly and colloquially referred to as possession is Demonic Obsession, where a so called evil spirit begins influencing your thoughts and actions from within and literally uses you as it as a chattel or possession as a human would them. When a Demon actually does takes over a body and animates it, this is called a transmigration. The popularisation of the wrong term began after the the Film and novel the exorcist used it, saying a demon was taking possession of Ragan, and that it had gone beyond a mere obsession that could be dealt with by a normal exorcism. The term became so popular the RC themselves began using it to avoid confusion. But that is all mythology and fiction, a remnant of a by gone age

LenHazell53 comments on Sep 16, 2018:
You had me at Roger Corman. Jack was Corman's discovery and made several films for him in the early days, apparently on the set of the Raven he was heard talking to Karloff and boasting he would be bigger than any of the old Hollywood stars before long, Corman came over and asked "If you're so great why are you making this shit for me?" Nicholson gave his trade mark smile and said "I need to eat like anyone else, but I won't have to put up with bologna sandwiches for my whole career." N.B. Corman also discovered Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Peter Fonda (well he did not discover him, but was the first to cast him), Jonathan Demme, Pam Grier, Ron Howard (as a director) and James Cameron. Pretty good going for one career.
Recently, I've been watching "The Real Exorcist" on YouTube.

Oliver Reed.
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 16, 2018:
Apparently Reed and the Elephant hated one another, it would deliberately stand on his foot during scenes, sneeze on him and accidentally tried to knock him over a cliff, Reed would breath alcohol fumes up it's trunk and refused to call it anything but "the Bastard" or "that Fucker" all through filming. Reed initially insisted on sleeping with Aida for three nights to form a bond, the elephant could not stand his strong alcoholic breath and kept trying to leave, or farted on Reed to mask the smell. Aida the Elephant who played Lucy was from a Dutch Zoo and did not understand English commands, so the weeks of preparation Reed had spent training with an Elephant Zoo keeper in Whipsnade Zoo had all gone to waste. As a consequence Reed and Winner went on a Bender for most of the production, and upset the locals by calling them Nazi's and pissing on the Austrian flag, which lead to them being thrown out of their Hotel more than once and inflating the budget.

Even as a devout Christian I found the book of Job ludicrous. An all loving, all righteous God makes a BET with the Devil, allowing him to physically and psychologically torture an innocent man, to the point a despair and sickness, in order to prove that the man will not turn on his torturer. He allows the Devil to KILL Job's entire family, ruin his life and render him to be wracked in pain and sickness. BUT because Job is still a slave to his fear of god at the end of all this, god gives him a new wife and family, cures him and gives back his possessions, so that's all right then...Except for the people who are dead for the sake of this little ego trip. It is the epitome of deviant scriptural evil, utterly disgusting.

It has been known among us "conspiracy nut jobs" that the UK/US plot was for mass regime change in the middle east since at the latest 2007, probably some think as far back as the 1990's. The plan being to effectively blockade Saudi Arabia and control the other oil producing nations for the benefit of the west, so as to make sure when the fossil fuel economy of the world goes tits up ( and we are already on the down slide of the bell curve of world wide oil production, and have been since the back end of 1977) The US and UK hold on to the market till last last. We could have diversified out energy needs 30 years ago, stretched out the oil and eased in renewables but the demand for a year on year economic growth by the oil and oil dependant industries put paid to that, now we are rushing to keep up as the last dregs of poor quality oil is sucked out of the earth. When the oil is gone see how long the West's disgusting love affair with the house of Saud lasts and how long "international peace keepers " stay in the middle east, when there is no longer the need to keep oil prices low by instigating destabilising wars that demand quick cash an a constant supply of cash and weapons for cheap oil. Mothers and cookware ???
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 12, 2018:
Because killing your spouse is hilarious Would it still be funny if it was the mother sitting in the chair and the father standing behind her brandishing a hammer while she espoused on how ugly he was but could be useful doing DIY? :)
I'm pretty sure this question has been asked before but I can't find a post on the subject.

Part of the power of the marketing of social media was the freedom of expression, the privacy and the anonymity to share opinions of all kinds and allow the "Undesirables" to simply fade away in to obscurity as "decent Normal" people would simply ignore them. That however is not what happened, because what the governments failed to remember was that people are in the majority of cases idiots. Morons, bigots and misery mongers are in the majority, because almost everyone has a beef about something and is looking for someone to blame it on who is not themselves. When computer technology was made so simple even a cretin could use it the internet became a gathering place for discontent and a world wide open forum for dissension. At which point it becomes clear the internet was never free, private or anonymous and that everything everyone says has been recorded, stored and in some cases used to track down people with the "wrong" ideas without ever openly discussing what a "wrong" thought is. Soon to it becomes clear than the one thing more dangerous than a moronic idiot, is an educated idiot who not only thinks they know better than everyone else but thinks everyone else should know better too and starts playing at being the thought police. Public opinion becomes mob mentality, democracy becomes Ochlocracy and the mob begins demanding back freedoms they never had in the first place and that freedoms be taken from the "wrong people." I was once asked how dictators rise up if the majority of the people are not behind them, because surely majority rules? I said no, dictators are carried to power by a loud minority with powerful media on their side, you need not oppress a majority, you simply tell them they oppressed until they are so frightened they oppress themselves or worse demand to be oppressed in order to feel safe. Social media is the most powerful weapon ever given to the human race, the governments thought it would be their tool, instead it was wrestled away from them and turned on them like a child with daddy's gun and now their reaction is to try and snatch it back by legislation, to put the safety catch on after the bullet has been fired.
Men's equality vs machismo.
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 12, 2018:
Part of the idea of men's rights and gender equality is, without destroying the difference, allow men and women the freedom to be who they really are without being judged for it. No more of these stupid unwritten but almost universally accepted rules like Boys don't cry (without being thought gay) Girls can't be tough (without being called a tomboy) Certain clothes and colour are only for one gender or the other A man can't be the stay at home parent Women can only be mothers, wives, nurses or secretaries etc etc Machismo in men is an affectation the equivalent of being "girly" in women and is something done to not to prove who you are but to prove what you are not, as such it is pathetic. True masculinity/femininity comes from attitude, moral strength, good character and most of all from self confidence when all people of either gender ( born or chosen) understand that there will be true equality based on mutual respect and not sets of arbitrary, enforced do-gooder rules based on biased opinions and outdated traditions.
What movies have your favorite scenes of sword fighting?
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 12, 2018:
Scaramouche (1952) without a doubt, the climax of the film is the greatest sword fight ever put on film, and what is more the entire scene is done by the actors Mel Ferrer and Stewart Granger, both of who are actually acomplished swordsmen, no stunt doubles and substitutions and very few cuts or edits, the majority of the fight done in one take with multiple cameras. https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x53yxek
Who is into foriegn films? I do love me a good Japanese western!
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 12, 2018:
If you mean films made in a language other than English, that's me; I love Japanese, Korean, Tai, Indian, German and French movies, Spain is reemerging as a leader in horror films there are some fun films coming out of Russia and Scandinavia. (Most people have forgotten that prior to the founding of Hollywood Denmark was the most prolific film making country in the world) On the other hand a foreign language film dubbed in to English for me is an abomination unless I speak the language it is subtitles or nothing. When there are so many talented voice actors are doing animation, why is it that film dubbing companies seem to think sticking your head out of a window and shouting at passers by "Hey you, comm'ere and read this" is sufficient?
Those things have sold more stuff to men than any amount of logic…
