I was trapped in a five and a half year abusive relationship with a woman, I was physically, mentally, emotionally and sexually assaulted on a regular basis, you as a woman may not call it rape, but violent sexual attack is to a man rape.
It is not "scoring" it is violent, frightening and scarring.
And bare in mind, doing anything to "fight back" immediately labels you as the man a domestic abuser, the sense of helplessness is the worst part.
Edit and FYI the "Member" does not have to "rise to the occasion" for their to be a sexual assault on a man by a woman. I am not prepared to describe the details here, but suffice to say, a man can be used and abused in more ways than one against his will.

Okay Yes the United states is a Republic in that it it is ruled by its people and not a monarch. HOWEVER a republic is not a form of governing, it is a governmental system that excludes the divine right of royalty.
A democracy can be a republic, and vice versa if it follows democratic principles.
You may recall in 1776 your country became a republic, however prior to this and post this switch to republicanism it was still a democracy, after a fashion.
In so far as the electorate allows one vote person citizen in the process of electing its rulers American is still a democracy. However its two houses of parliament are though representatively democratic not functionally democratic for the reasons you describe, this does not however make them functionally republican other than in the fact they are not pro-royalist.
There have been non democratic republics in the past the soviet union or Iran for example, but these were always under some other form of rule, be it political, oligarchal, theological, plutocratic or dictatorial

Stupid question, communism is EXTREMIST socialism, ALL extremist governmental systems veer toward dictatorship that is what defines them as Extreme.
There have been many successful socialist or part socialist democracies, I live in one of them, that have never moved toward communism or even anti-capitalism, but non the less embraces principles created and instituted by Socialism such as universal health care, a welfare state backed care of the elderly and the orphaned children, social housing run for profit and unemployment benefit, that prevents the economy from collapsing in times of depression or recession.
