LenHazell53 comments on Apr 24, 2022:
Great song but not as many believe written by Mike Rutherford. Scots Song writer B.A. Robertson wrote the song for himself to release, based on his relationship with his own father. However Robertson was better known for his comic songs such as Bang Bang, Knocked it off and To be or not to be and so his producers had him pass the song on to Mike and the Mechanics. Rutherford rearranged the song, cut it in half and credited himself as a co-author. There is a performance by Robertson that he performed on a day time chat show, but it now seems lost, however on You Tube there is a later re-recording running almost 7 minutes by the original composer released a couple of years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtaCPR00FZY

My favourite bullshit catholic saint is St. Teresa (1515–82) AKA Teresa of Ávila. Her claim to canonization rest on her as a young novice Nun having a series of "visions" of being visited by a unnaturally handsome Angel of the Lord who pierced with his huge golden spear causing her to experience previews of spasms of heavenly ecstasy so intense and powerful that she fainted. During these "visions" she apparently trembled, screamed and "bade her sisters hold her down" on her bed "lest she be raptured before their eyes" In an effort to go to heaven and have the same experience again she dedicated her entire life to god and the church

Icon comes from from the Greek eikon simply meaning "a picture of" or "a model of" Symbol comes from the Greek symbolon which itself comes from the phase "Syn Bolon" meaning a throwing or drawing together. A Symbolon was a way of identifying something or some one that had a specific purpose for example the Roman Eagle Standard ( the Aquila) was an identifier of political and military allegiance, that comprised a legion number, a moto "SPQR" ( Senātus Populusque Rōmānus "The Senate and People of Rome") and the Icon of an Eagle in flight, literally death descending and preying upon the enemy meant to strike terror in to the opponent.

LenHazell53 comments on Apr 23, 2022:
Caoutchouc is derived from the dead language "Quechua" as spoken by the Incas. Many Quechua words went in to both Spanish and French via colonization of south America, the most famous of which are Guacamole and Chocolate. Another was " kawchu." meaning gum as in chewing gum and adhesive gum (NOT the mouth part) in French this became caoutchouc and in Spanish caucho, and eventually in English Caoutchouc. The first major use of Caoutchouc in the western world was as pencil erasers, which "Rubbed out" pencil marks, this lead (pun intended) in time to the adoption of the word Rubber replacing Caoutchouc for the polymerized tree sap, and eventually for Vulcanised Caoutchouc being trade marked as Rubber and as a copyright brand name for contraceptive sheaths.

The reports of what is actually happening in Balakleya are utterly confused with most of the information gleaned is either from the "Kyiv Independent" or statements made by Kharkiv's regional head, Oleh Synehubov, who has accused the mayor of Balakleya of "Collaberation and treason" HOWEVER this "mayor of Balakleya" is likely to be Ivan Stolbovoy elected in 2015, who shortly after Russian military forces invaded Ukraine took his entire family and fled to Russia. Since the absconding of Ivan Stolbovoy, Balakleya has been controlled by a citizens group under the leadership of an unnamed acting mayor who has faced no censure whatsoever. On April 7, the Kyiv Independent reported that Synehubov spoke with Ukraine's ICTV and said that Ivan Stolbovyi, the mayor of Balakliia was under investigation after reports that he fled to Russia with his family, there was no mention or condemnation of the current regeime. There is NO mention of Stolbovyi, accepting Russian aid in Oleh Synehubov's original statement, the decision to accept aid was made by the citizens committee to avoid mass starvation of Balakley's mostly aged remaining population, as was a request to the occupying forces, for the people of Balakleya to be allowed to restore "Facilities" (presumably water electric and so forth) to the people. an act that most reasonable people would find commendable or at least understandable.

“The receptivity of the masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand... the most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly and with unflagging attention. It must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over. Here, as so often in this world, persistence is the first and most important requirement for success.” ― Adolf Hitler

This article is extrapolated from Azim Shariff and Will Gervais' Templeton foundation sponsored study "Accurately Measuring Religious Belief And Attitudes Around The World" 2019 via the University of British Columbia. Azim Shariff has since cut all ties with the "Templeton Foundation" not so Will Gervais, who as evidenced by this article is still associated with said organisation. The John Templeton foundation, for those not familiar with it, is a " philanthropic organization that reflects the ideas of its founder, John Templeton, who... "wanted to support progress in religious and spiritual knowledge, especially at the intersection of religion and science." at least that is what it says on their foundational documentation. In reality the Templeton foundations promotes religious fundamentalism, undermines atheism and its notorious "Templeton Prize" given each year along with a LARGE cash prize has gone to among others Mother Teresa (1973) genocidal maniac, friend of dictators Billy Graham (1982) Spiritual Advisor to the Whitehouse George Fielden MacLeod, Baron MacLeod of Fuinary (1989) founder of the Iona Chrisitian isolationist Community on the island of Iona. Hermaphrodite is subtly different, where as Androgyny is have characteristic of both male and female Hermaphrody is actually being both male and female. The word springs from the myth of the offsping of the gods Aphrodite and Hermes, who because the parents could not agree on the gender of the child they desired, had "Hermaphroditus" born with a male face on the back of the head and a penis where the coccyx (or tail bone) usually is (or in some translations with a penis and testicles under the vagina forming an ankh) . In a later sanitised version of the myth Hermaphroditus was born male, but because of a screwed up spell by the water witch Salmacis, that the two should always be together, they were merged in to one, but forever back to back and unable to see or touch one another except in a pair of mirrors.

I am sad to say that the actions of President Zelensky in the last few days have lead me to reconsider my opinion of him. The Greek parliament had no excuse to claim that the inclusion of an Azov fighter in his address to them came as a total surprise, because he had done the same thing in his address to the Cypriot Parliament only days before to say nothing of his address being cut short owing to (oddly convenient) "technical problems" when the speaker of the Cypriot government drew attention to the fact that no such opportunities were offered to Cyprus in 1974 when they were invaded by Turkey. Zelensky further drew unwanted attention to himself when he addressed the Israeli Knesset a few days ago and compared the "struggle" of Israel against the "Palestinian occupiers" of their own country to his war with Russia. An oddly mistaken and inverted description of the actual situation in the middle east. His constant trope of declaring that he cannot be a Nazi because he is a Jew, is somewhat under mined when he so readily identifies himself a rampant Zionist with obviously far right nationalist views, at least as far as Israel is concerned. Only last December Zelensky himself presented the title of Hero of Ukraine and Order of the Golden Star to the then commander of the Azov battalion Dmytro Kotsyubaylo friend and compatriot of Ukrainian billionaire and oligarch Igor Kolomoyskyi one of the main financiers to the founders of the Azov Battalion who coincidentally is also Jewish. Trump Tells Member Of Gays For Trump At Mar-a-Lago: 'You Don't Look Gay'
LenHazell53 comments on Apr 4, 2022:
There are gay people in this world who are ardent right wing Christian extremists who claim that when the bible insists that gay people be stoned to death, it does not mean that gay people should be stoned to death, it means something completely different. (but don't ask what) During World War 2 there were German Jews who signed up to the Nazi party and served throughout the war loyal to Hitler, because when Der Fuhrer said all Jews must die to end the Jewish problem he did not mean all Jews must die to end the Jewish problem, he meant something completely different. (but don't ask what) The level of cognitive dissonance among deluded humans defies explanation, logic and reason, such behaviour stems from stubbornness, foolishness but mostly from fear, abject fear of the future and of other people.

LenHazell53 comments on Apr 3, 2022:
Nothing as a word and this context; is akin to "Cold", 'Silence' or "Dark" it does not indicate an object or a state of being, it is the word used to describe an absence of something else. Cold is the absence of heat, dark is the absence of light, silence is the absence of sound and Nothing is the absence of all things. To say the matter of the universe came from nothing is as nonsensical as saying there is such a thing as this glass of dehydrated water. 'Being' therefore is a necessary state of affairs that simply changes forms and locomotive states within a measurable set of process' we call entropy, time and space

HAZING.
LenHazell53 comments on Apr 3, 2022:
I have seen enough dramas and documentaries US frat houses and colleges to know about the "Hazing" or as most other people would call it bullying to the point of torture. Why on earth do young men (especially) put themselves through this sadomasochistic humiliation, do they have no self respect?
Any guesses as to what might happen to Russia when Vladimir Putin dies?

DADO.
LenHazell53 comments on Mar 30, 2022:
“A dado joint” is a version of a Tongue and Groove joint, except that a dado runs perpendicular to the grain of the wood while a tongue and groove runs parallel to the grain. The at is a T & G fixes two pieces of wood side by side, a dado fixes them end to end, if you use the same technique to fix two pieces of wood at right angles it is called a mortise and tenon joint. Today unfortunately all three are rarely used at all and have been replaced by the inferior dowel and hole fixings for economy and speed.
BRICOLAGE.
LenHazell53 comments on Mar 28, 2022:
In Postmodernist theory "Bricolage" has a specific meaning which is the mixing of the classic and the modern, the old with the new (or less old) Gerry Halliwell's iconic Union Flag Mini Dress for example was described by Mavis Bayton in her book Frock Rock as a Bricolage of 1760's and 1960's fashions making Halliwell a Modern Brittania. Steam Punk as a genre is a postmodern Bricolage of the speculative anachronistic works of Jules Verne and his ilk and the mores of the historical novelists and satirists of society such as Jane Austin and later authors such as Julian Fellows. A great example is Goliath by David Abramowitz a film that speculates on a world recovering from the Martian invasion of HG Well's novel, now armed with Martian technology and yet still struggling with the social propriety and morality of Victorian England

MY Adopted Daughter (actually my wife's neice) married her long time girlfriend last year and they moved in to a house in the village of Brandon in county Durham, a place I thought seemed faintly familiar from my genealogical researches. I mentioned this to my father and he laughed saying "Yes you should know it, your Granddad was born there" he then asked me the full address and when I gave it he told me the apartment block they live in was built over the street house that his father was born in, that was demolished in the 1960s.

LenHazell53 comments on Mar 26, 2022:
This reminds me of a particularly inept ASM attached to one of the theater companies I worked with as a young man, I can't recall his actual name but we all called him Wolfie (because he was howling mad). During one show the dry ice machine began leaking warm water from a cracked basin and so the actual SM unplugged it from the mains and removed the power lead from the heater, to avoid the obvious consequence of mixing electrical wiring and pooling water. Noticing that the on stage effect of rising mist had stopped Wolfie dashed to the rescue and with a cry of "what fucktard did this" stepped in to the puddled water and switched back on the mains, before plugging back in the mains adapter to the heater. He, of course naturally blew himself backward across the stage for an unexpected and expletive filled cameo in the middle of a performance of Arsenic and Old Lace. As you say some people are just truly dumb

191 years later we have a new version of the original North African French Foreign Legion. "The International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine" Something the world has been lacking "officially" since 1962... a place for anonymous gun toting, war hungry, psychopaths to go and indiscriminately kill foreigners, while offering the rest of us a welcome chance to be free of these over grown substitute phallus obsessed children for a little while, or perhaps forever.
And your a moron and stupid ass as well.
