Derived from an number of European words, notably Middle English wrað "tormented, twisted" Dutch/Frisian wreth "evil," also Middle Dutch wret, Dutch wreed Old Saxon wred meaning "Cruel" Old High German reid "angry" Old Norse reiðr , "offended" Probably all stemming from the Proto-Germanic wreit, it self coming from Wer- "twisted or turned" hence the connect to writhe

I realise I may be wrong but for a number of reasons drawing a comparison between the (in my opinion) totally illegal though effective bombing of Yugoslavia during the Kosovo War in 1999 without UN approval, and what the Russians are doing in Ukraine today is a false equivalence. Most prominently because the air strikes on Kosavo were NOT an invasion, an atrocity yes, but their was there was no intent to conquer, simply to take sides (albeit cack handedly) and end a slaughter. It was, again in my opinion, neither a justification, nor an excuse for Russian aggression, though it might in a best case scenario, be seen as a possible mitigation for Russia's objection to the Ukraine joining NATO. However even if that is the case Russia did nothing to help Kosovo their former oblast, during this time of crisis because even they could not in good conscience reasonably justify Slobodan Milošević's ethnic cleansing of Albanian, which is why when Russia did become involved it was as a mediator. These illegal actions by NATO could not happen today however as the result of the interference in the war was to severely curb NATO's powers to do such things again.

The US is without doubt the easiest country in the world to rabble rouse, since it is the worst example, since the fall of the British empire, of a significant proportion of the population being successfully indoctrinated from birth to believe in the inherent superiority of their culture, their "way of life" and their "god given" right to police the rest of the world without the need for evidence or even comparison, without actually declaring themselves a legitimate dictatorship. Most other post imperial nations who held this same attitude did in fact have failed empires behind them, the US would claim this make them the exception as there never was an American empire. Of course this is incorrect since the UNITED states are their own empire, taken with guns and germ warfare from a conquered populous armed mostly with stone age weaponry and a misplaced faith in magic. The USA would do well to draw comparison between its own federal five hundred year history and the 500 year period that marked the change from a colonial power to an imperial one in Ancient Rome. The rise of decadence, the switch from idealism to capitalism and the move from philosophy to economics. It is especially visible in the change from eclectic religious freedom to an emperor sanctioned religion contractually in cahoots with the government for their mutual benefit.

LenHazell53 comments on Mar 14, 2022:
It is a joke word created by Scottish Polymath John Ruskin in the 1860. When it was pointed out to him that there was no direct antonym to wealth as poverty was more of a binary opposite rather than an antonym, Ruskin joked that if prosperity kept people well, and poverty made people ill, the antonym of of wealth, must be illth. It became a popular anecdote among economics students and by the 1920s was adopted as a real word and placed in the OED.

And you shall call these forbidden pleasures SIN* *7. And the Prophet did bow his head and wonder "Lord, does that not seem a bit of a dick move when thou did create pleasure in the first place?" And the Lord Spake thus "Know this foolish one Verily what God forbids, man will pay to do and will pay to be forgiven of in cold hard cash. For behold where there is sin, there are Profits for the Prophets!" 9. And the Prophet did see that the Lord was indeed wise and did cry out, let this be the one commandment "God loves cash" 10. LenHazell53 comments on Mar 14, 2022:
It is my understanding that "mehl im maule beholten" is the origin of the term Flowery language (flower being mistaken for its Homonym Flour when translated to English) derived from the habit of the aristocracy of powdering their faces and wigs with flour, to give them a more pale and hence more desirable complexion (it cover up the pox marks) Mealy-Mouthed may stem from the same root, but also could come from the Welsh medd (pronounced Meedy) meaning Honey/sweet/ sweetened/honeyed, hence honey tongued and sweet talk. There are similar words for Honey in Nordic tongues, Greek, Sanskrit, proto Germanic, slavic and even east Asian. (usually translating literally as Bee dense liquid) It is one of those words like Lactose (milk) that transcends and remains in almost all languages and is cited as evidence for a single original mother language.

Religion does not represent freedom of thought, religion runs on indoctrination, the indoctrinated are not representative of the freedom of belief, to believe something you must understand it and have proof of it, or else you are subject to brainwashed FAITH not belief. This is the exact opposite of freedom of thought and belief and when it is done on a one to one basis it is a criminal offense called coercive abuse. The answer is 8 simple laws 1) Religions may not register as charities and like any other business should be required to register as a business, 2) Religion should pay taxes at the same rates as business and be subject to tax investigation and independent auditing every year. 3) Churches must have a legally compliant enforcible constitution which they must abide by. 4) Religions must also be subject to corporate laws regarding political donations 5) All Religious institution employees (and volunteer workers) must be subject to CAB (criminal records) checks and may not employ those failing them. 6) Propagating dangerous, unscientific and prejudicial untruths as doctrines among the underage membership be made a criminal offense 7) All holy books of all religions be forced to carry a disclaimer that they are fiction and contain pornography and incitement to hatred, meaning they may not be sold or read or read to any persons under 21 years age, under penalty of prosecution for child abuse 8) All churches be under legal obligation to report criminal behaviour by members or staff they become aware of under pain of prosecution as an accessory before and after the fact. Most churches would be shut down or confined to theocracies within a week.

Ontology on·tol·o·gy /änˈtäləjē/ noun noun: ontology; plural noun: ontologies 1.
LenHazell53 comments on Mar 12, 2022:
Ontological arguments are a philosophical con, relying in most cases on equivocation (the confusing of multiple meanings of words) and making presupposition, to make arguments and propositions sound self affirming. Take for example, René Descartes' ontological assertion that To exist is a more perfect state of being than not existing God by definition is perfect Therefore God exists In the above example confusing two meanings of perfect, (that which is being made better and that which is without fault) and presupposing that existence is superior to none existence, an unprovable and unfalsifiable proposition Another famous ontological fallacy is One cannot prove God does not exist Everything must either be or not be Therefore God exists The law of excluded middle is grossly misused in such cases by presupposing that "God" is a thing rather than a concept or a belief, and equivocating over the meaning of the word God. God as a word, an idea and a concept does exist (I just wrote it so) but god as an existential thing cannot be proven to do the same. The simple answer lies in universality, can the same argument be used successfully for all conceptual or labeled beings? Unicorns, Vampires, Leprechauns, Sherlock Holmes, a ballet dancing purple bandicoot in a pink tutu? If so, when all other uses for the argument are almost unanimously accepted as fallacious the acceptance for it as an acceptable proof of deity is likely as not simple special pleading.
KETTLING.

If he was as wise as he likes to think he is he would have taken the money and run away to nostalgia town two or three years ago to enjoy he fruits of his ill gotten gains.

Clever
Metronymic adjective derived from the name of a mother or other female ancestor.
LenHazell53 comments on Feb 28, 2022:
It is Matronymic, from Greek mitéra (pronounced matre) = Mother and onyma=name Metronymic means substituting an associated word for another for example using Westminster as a metronymic substitute for government, or the oval office for the president, or on the piss for drinking alchohol (https://www.britannica.com/art/metonymy) from Greek meta = change and onyma=name
I'd let her hum a few bars into Mr. Microphone...and just hit the high notes!!!

War is a fact of nature, human beings have just been ludicrously good at upscaling it to the level of pointless auto extinction. In the Forges of Vulcan Barron Munchausen discovers a large bomb “- Hieronymus Karl Frederick Baron von Munchausen: What's this? - Vulcan: Oh, this is our prototype. RX, uh, Intercontinental, radar-sneaky, multi-warheaded nuclear missile. - Hieronymus Karl Frederick Baron von Munchausen: Ah! What does it do? - Vulcan: Do? Kills the enemy. - Hieronymus Karl Frederick Baron von Munchausen: All the enemy? - Vulcan: Aye, all of them. All their wives, and all their children, and all their sheep, and all their cattle, and all their cats and dogs. All of them. All of them gone for good.” - Hieronymus Karl Frederick Baron von Munchausen: Well where's the fun in that? - Vulcan: Oh we cater for all tastes here, no judgment. Terry Gilliam

What's your reason?
LenHazell53 comments on Feb 28, 2022:
MY reason? I'm a fucking adult I don't need an imaginary friend and I'm not frightened of an imaginary enemy.

"Speak softly & carry a big stick". African Proverb
LenHazell53 comments on Feb 27, 2022:
Teddy Roosevelt claimed the proverb to be of African origin but he actually made it up himself, believing that the illusion of ancient wisdom gave more credence to his words, it is a variation of his often used older adage "be prepared to use an iron fist, but hide it in a velvet glove."
