@WonderWartHog99 No circular reasoning is when both parts of an argument are reliant upon the other to prove such as supposedly true or untrue *The bible is true because it is the word of god and we know this to be true because it says so in the bible.* is circular reasoning, however if I were to possit instead *The Bible is the inspired word of god inscribed by men, because men wrote the bible under the influence of god* that is a tautology because it simply says the same thing twice, neither statement backs up or proves the other The difference is subtle

Who says you can't disprove god? It was done by Epicurus way back then BC in the Epicurean Paradox plus any day with logic, all gods without exception were created by ignorant humans, ergo all are made up and fake.
LenHazell53 replies on Feb 26, 2020:
@Pedrohbds @Mofo1953 "you can't prove they don't exist" may be technically and grammatically a sound statement, but it is not true statement. Since we are discussing "a god" I will stick with that example, no I cannot prove that a given god does not exist, but I do not need to. Aside from the obvious burden of proof argument, the non existence of a non corporeal, invisible, inaudible, intangible thing that exists outside of time and space is impossible to prove because even if it did exist it might as well not, it can have no bearing on reality and reality can have no bearing upon it. This being the case, to all intents and purposes for any being actually existing in this reality the existence or non existence of such a "god" would be exactly the same. If on the other hand it is contended that the said deity can and does impact upon this reality, then reality must conversely be able to impact upon it at least while it is doing so, as every action has an equal and opposite counter reaction. A lack of evidence for such interaction and counter reaction must therefore lead to a potential conclusion that is is highly improbable that under the given criteria the "god" either does not exist or did not ever interact with our reality, thus indicating a very high probability that the "god" does not" or "may as well not" exist.

NO he told them not to use their swords hence the paraphrase "Put up your sword for he who lives by the sword dies by the sword" The only reason they have swords is explained in Luke 22 (and only in Luke) he says they should buy swords to fulfill a prophecy about his betrayal, but when Peter tells him he has two swords, Jesus says that it is enough for the purposes of prophecy so then in Matthew 26 when Peter draws the sword he is told Matthew 26:52 52 “Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. LenHazell53 replies on Feb 16, 2020:
@Mofo1953 Legally yes, but in practice no, for example witchcraft was only accepted as a religion in the USA in 1973 because of religious pressure, The Satanic Temple fought for the legal and Tax exempt status and was recognised as a religion in 2013, the much older Church of Satan has never sought that status but gained it when the Temple did by association. Scientology has only been recognised as a religion in the USA since 1993 (2013 in the UK) and there has been an ongoing campaign to revoke that status ever since owing to their blatantly criminal activities such as operation snow white. Indigenous American religions were not recognised as such until 1978 and some up to the 1960s where outrightly banned. The Unification Church (Moonies) though technically recognised as a church has none of the benefits of such and has been continually prosecuted for tax evasion since 1982 by both the state of New York and the federal treasury. So as Orwell might have put it All religions are equal, but some are more equal than others.

@FrayedBear It is not actually that surprising, Oswald Mosley the leader of The British Union of Fascists held the famous Olympia Rally in 1934 attracted a minimum of three quarter of million Black Shirt supporters (they only counted the men), there was a British legion of the SS made up of British army deserters and before it could be brought under control the British National socialist had to be made an illegal organisation and Moseley himself was exiled to France to avoid arrest. There were various attempts to bring him back to the UK and restart the party, ending only with Moseley's death in 1980. The myth that Britain was immune from the wave of fascist populism that swept Europe in the 1920s and 30s was pure propaganda (unfortunately) and it took huge amounts of counter propaganda to hide that embarrassing fact that the (abdicated) King George VI was himself a liar, traitor and card carrying National socialist as where his sister in law (Elizabeth the queen mother) and most of her family extended family the Bowes-Lions. In that respect the fact that Wallace Simpson was divorced and Catholic was a "god send" in getting George removed without having to point out she the duchess of Windsor was a high ranking Nazi spy.

@JeffMesser You are very disrespectful almost verging on social racism, just because something originates in one culture does not mean it is not universally available and appropriate. People are people regardless of culture, the brain of someone from the east is practically identical in function that of one born in the west, I would have thought your own practices would have proven that to you. Transcendentalism is very akin to therapeutic self hypnosis (both of which I have studied) either and both can be successfully used to find and deal with "inner truth" or psychological issues, I choose to back up and test my inner truth with evidence and eliminate the possibility of error, you choose not to and arrogantly assume that your thoughts are infallible because you thought them while using meditation, that is the text book definition of confirmation bias.

@Barnie2years your answer, well thought out though it is, illustrates my point. When you make fake news about fake news with sound bite such as " so called “fake news” has become whatever news a person doesn’t agree with" you are putting out fake news, ABOUT fake news by changing the definition to further muddy the waters. A lie is a lie, and bringing in an expert liar is not a defence, it is just a further lie. This ultimately leads to a point where people are asking to be told what is true and what is not, rather than researching the facts for themselves, and the great thing about facts is there is a very proballity they are true, and no amount of telling people an aardvark is a Czechoslovakian traffic warden on a unicycle will make it so.

LenHazell53 replies on Feb 12, 2020:
Please understand Anime is not comparable to a cartoon in any way, other than as a different version of animation. Anime as an art form covers every genre from social drama, to comedy, to science fiction, horror, psychological thriller and beyond. In Japan animation is not just for children. Subtitles are demanded mainly because the voice actors hired by funimation, Aniplex, 4kids and such like to dub Japanese anime in to English are total shit, with less acting ability than a glass case full of cucumbers. The performances of the Japanese voice actors (who often become major stars in their own right) are often superb and for their cadences and emotion alone to indicate how the sub titles need to be read I will always, ALWAY watch a subbed version over a butchered dubbed version.

@FrayedBear I suggest you start at the point where Fools and horses changed format from 25 minutes to 50 minutes, the earlier show are not so good when John Sullivan was writing them on his own and mainly rehashes of old Steptoe and Son plot lines, how ever after rating's flagged at the end of series one Sullivan was Joined by his former boss the great Ronnie Barker who ghosted many of the scripts for Fools and horses starting with the classic episode "A touch of Glass" series 2 episode 7 After which it is completely obvious which episodes are Barker, which are Sullivan and which are joint efforts from the 1 hour episode "To Hull and Back" the series really hit's it's stride with both writers coming up with classic after classic with sole exception of the disastrous Xmas 1986 special "Royal Flush" written by Sullivan alone and originally intended as the series one Xmas special, generally classified as THE worst episode of the show ever, with all of the characters reverting to their series 1 personas, Del becoming a nasty evil violent and abusive brother to Rodney and a plot that left a bitter taste in the mouth of most fans. After this the show was cancelled for a year and returned in it's new 50 minute format a year later with the brilliant episode "The Frog's legacy" from which point it never looked back. Finally there was the final three 2001 "comeback" episodes written after Barkers death completely undo the series finale of "Time on our hands" and destroy much of the character building as well as introducing the horrible character of Del's son Damion, all of which leaves a bitter nasty after taste to the shows latter glory, don't bother with them, most fans don't.
