Would you do this for a relationship????
LenHazell53 comments on Apr 6, 2019:
I don't smoke it, but if someone told me I had to quite anything to be with them, it would be a simple fuck off, that sort of dictatorial relationship is unhealthy. Real love is not built on ultimatums. As I always say, everyone is full of shit, just how much of their shit you are willing to tolerate is a good measure of how much you love them.

Except this is not the sort of storm caused by natural meteoric phenomena, it is the sort of storm caused when some one thinks it might just be a good idea to clear the muck away by exploding one ton of dynamite in a filled to capacity silage pit one mile wide, two miles long and a mile and a half deep. No rainbows after that storm, just a lot of bad smelling everything, followed by years of disease and before you know it, an original problem that has just come back worse than before.

Happy is equatable with cold and dark There is no such thing as happy it is a word for the absence of something, not a thing in itself. These happy interludes are just fleeting moments of respite from the unending parade of misery and stupidity that make life unbearable, those moments that somehow seem especially good, because they are not as especially bad as the usual. I despise Ann Widdecombe, she is the very Epitome of open hypocrisy declaring itself to be virtuous. A woman who has voted in her time against a women's rights, is ardently pro-life while claiming to be on the side of female liberation. She is an obviously closeted lesbian who has throughout her career oppressed homosexuals and gay rights and fought tirelessly against marriage equality. She vehemently stands for what she calls "Traditional Values" while openly advocating prejudice, relish her own ignorance and proclaims her lack of knowledge a duty as a Christian not to expose herself to corrupting and non faith promoting lies. A practicing Roman Catholic she is biblically, theologically and historically selective in her "belief" in history, claiming a legitimate right to ignore and disparage as lies "unfortunate" historical facts. Her opinions to me, are worthless other than when stating the obvious, born of an obsolete set of values and jingoistic dubious morals long since combined to the dustbin of history. Her fame like wise is born of being "controversial" a media euphemism for overt Bigotry.

LenHazell53 comments on Mar 31, 2019:
This reminds me of a story that did the rounds in the LDS a few years ago. President Hinkley the prophet decided to have a crack down on "modesty" and e mailed out to all bishops an order that they were to address the "sweet sisters" of the relief society and council them on their choice of tights. All sisters were hence forth to think carefully about how their choice of hosiery might reflect upon their moral character. One Bishop in Utah dutifully addressed the "Sweet Sisters" reading from the prophets e-mail and told them that on tan tights were appropriate from that point on, and that even then they must be plain. Black tights or garish colour tights were no long to be worn less the make the men notice the sisters had legs, and paterned tights were only ever worn by strumpets and women of ill repute. The relief society president, the wife of the Bishop sat quietly fuming through this crossing and uncrossing her legs, clad in black stockings with scarlet swirs up and down each leg. "So," she declared at the conclusion. "I am a 'strumpet'? My choice of clothing points to my having an imoral character does it?" The Bishop Blushed red and gibbered nonsensically as his wife stood and left the room calling back "We will discuss this at home!" She left the church building taking her children with her and the Bishop had to walk home. Within a week he gave up his calling, his wife went inactive as did his children and eventually himself.

Maybe I just don't understand humanity, like I thought I once did.
LenHazell53 comments on Mar 28, 2019:
You like so many others are coming at this the wrong way. Human beings are not developing violent tendencies, they are simply expressing their repressed nature, the same nature that governed human society and evolution for almost all of the existence of the species. We have in the west had almost five generations grow up since WW2 in relative peace, prosperity and the expectation that we will not have to take up arms to feed or protect ourselves. The horrors of two international bloodbaths made those who lived through them determined never to endure that again, but today's generation looks back and sees not horror but excitement, simple solutions to everyday problems and a time when no life that was not your own had value and they long for it. When the child screams profanity in the street, the urge to simply set an example by killing him, rises too easily in the mind of the one who feels helpless in the face of barbarism and a world without honour or even manners. Our base nature has been suppressed channelled and pointed toward sport, competition, business, economics, education. But still there is the need to feel worth and superiority to someone else, anyone one else. Then as the population has grown out of control, which each subsequent generation expecting more and more, at the expense of one part of humanity in favour of another, to the point where now poverty is seen in insufficient plenty, starvation is seen in obesity and attack is seen in simple presence and insult in disagreement. Personal Consequence is not even considered and seen as something not applicable to the perpetrator and self. Where once people fought for food they will fight over luxuries and call then necessities For many the last resort has already become the first reaction. Expect to see in the coming years more wars, civil unrest, street violence, cannibalism and the reinstatement of capital punishment on a scale not seen in 200 years. Death will become a way of life that people will simply accept as normality and the calls to "exterminate" the "other" grow and put monsters in power. Human beings are not, good, not nice, they are great and potentially wondrous, but they need control, purpose, focus, discipline and above all a sense of worth, this is the one thing religion has never given them without a call to war, but a true secular society might IF it can decide to do it.

LenHazell53 comments on Mar 27, 2019:
If you hit two people hard in the back of the head, they will both claim to see stars, this does not mean they are astronauts, simply that they have had the same experience and experienced the same result. Like wise when people come close to dying they see a tunnel of light and have a feeling of levitation, their brain calms them to face the inevitable before shut down. Almost dying produces the so called near death experience, it is nothing supernatural, it is a natural reaction to a natural situation.
What Are Your Thoughts About Spiritualism ?
LenHazell53 comments on Mar 27, 2019:
I experimented with spiritualism for a few years, it is bollocks, cold reading, desperation and self delusion are all that keeps it going Greater World Christian Spiritualism have their own prophet, a dead Jewish elder who goes by the nom de guerre of Zodiac who claims to have known Jesus and has channeled several (very expensive) holy books from beyond the grave which the members of the NSA follow slavishly. They even have their own symbol, a cross with a letter z wrapped around it In this Greater World Christian Spiritualism is far worse than the United Spiritualist Church (who are pretty much universalist and don't even claim to be Christian) and the The National Spiritual Alliance (who have local branches in most countries that don't advocate stoning them to death)

We offered the EU a deal The EU said Pardon? We put the deal before parliament, who said no The EU said what the fuck? You want to leave but on your terms, but you can't agree what terms among your selves and you want us to sort it out for you, so you can leave but still have all the benefits without paying the fees? We said, Yes... what's the problem? The EU went off in to corner to laugh quietly and make cuckoo noises at us. The Northern Irish people said, hang on we have an open boarder with a European nation, called the rest of Ireland, this is going to cause a war The government said no it isn't as a series of bombs go off in London from a long defunct terrorist organisation the IRA announcing they are back and will not stand for a boarder in Ireland again and to stand by for another 500 years of war. The government went Backstop Everyone went What? Government just kept repeating the word backstop till everyone stopped listening Government took the deal back to Parliament, Parliament said, Are you fucking kidding? This is three times, you can't do that it is undemocratic. The Government said Yes it is Parliament asked for another referendum The government said you can't do that it is undemocratic. A million plus people marched through London demanding an end to brexit The government pretended not to be in Five million people signed a petition demanding that government hold a vote on stopping Brexit, the government send angry e mails to everyone who signed calling them undemocratic, then followed that an hour later with another e mail saying because the petition had more than 10,000 signatures it has to be debated in parliament on the first of April The EU and the rest of the world await the next hilarious instalment of "Them crazy Brits"

Religion is all about control, it is useful for governments to utilise it when you want people to start policing themselves and each other.
Ever feel ashamed of not believing?
LenHazell53 comments on Mar 26, 2019:
Being the only sane person in a collection of deluded dimwits is nothing to be ashamed of. Would feel ashamed of not being a perverted deviant in a room full of paedophiles just because your thinking did not align with theirs.
Just a note that today, March 26th, is the birthday (3/26/41) of Scientist, and Agnostic/atheist ...

Meme, unit of cultural information spread by imitation. The term meme from the Greek mimema, meaning imitated was introduced in 1976 by British evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins in his work The Selfish Gene. Encyclopedia Britanica
What are some of your favorite misquotes?
LenHazell53 comments on Mar 26, 2019:
A few movie ones Humphrey Bogart never said "Play it again Sam" Oliver hardy never said "Well this is another fine mess you've gotten me in to Stanley" Jimmy Cagney never said "You dirty Rat!" Darth Vader never said "Luke I am your Father" NO Sherlock Holmes ever in film, TV or books ever said "Elementary my dear Watson" Jimmy Durante (this one is showing my age) never said "Dat's no Banana dats my nose" Charlie Chaplin never ever called his famous character "The Tramp"

Ridiculous parts of the bible
LenHazell53 comments on Mar 26, 2019:
It is more difficult to find bits of the bible that are **not** ridiculous.
My all time most puzzling aspect of Christianity.
LenHazell53 comments on Mar 26, 2019:
It simply plays on the idea that YOU are not burning in hell. IN England after the war there was an expression that summed up this mentality perfectly "I'm alright Jack, pull up the ladder" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvmi-R9UFek
To all the people that used to be Christian, how did you lose your faith?
LenHazell53 comments on Mar 26, 2019:
You cannot lose something that does not exist, you simply realise you never had it to start with, people kept telling you that you did. Classic case of the Emperor's new clothes

LenHazell53 comments on Mar 26, 2019:
In that passage it makes a big point of saying Jesus was writing on the ground with a stick in the dust, I'm guessing some kind of warning to back the fuck off maybe? Pretty obvious if this was a prostitute they were her clients and they did not want to pay then perhaps their wives might have had an opinion on the matter, and under Jewish law a woman could divorce and demand recompence from an adulterous spouse. It begs the question how Jesus knew all her clientele and her profession, but friend of whotres and money lenders and all that, makes for some juicy blackmail fodder.
We read a lot of commentary about how hard it is to be an atheist in the Bible Belt but being a ...

It is not easy to be any religion in China at the moment, only five religions are tolerated Buddhism, Taoism, Protestantism, Catholicism and Islam, however churches, temples, mosques etc are being fitted with CCTV to monitor sermons and practices for anti government or anti communist content or even for pro communist teachings that place the party secondary to god, one catholic church accused of subversion was closed down by blowing it up, and another was boarded up over night, seized by the local government and reopened as a community centre. 7 Catholic bishops were arrested and replaced by government sanctioned bishops, who when they were told to stand down by the vatican refused as to do so would mean execution, when the church excommunicated the bishops, the chinese government "reinstated them and announced any priest who acknowledged the excommunication would be arrested and their churches demolished. This before you get in to "re-education" camps set up for Muslims. In one way religion getting a taste of its own medicine delights me, but two wrongs don't make a right. What really amazes me is that when faced with these consequences anyone would be stupid enough to stand up and declare themselves to be of a specific religion, instead just shutting up and keeping it private in their own home. But the church has a long history of praising idiot martyrs.
Do not go gentle into that good night Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Dylan Thomas.
