About six years ago and after several years of study, I rejected Seventh-day Adventism and religion. This was a significant decision as my husband is a Seventh-day Adventist pastor. My original contention with the church was its emphasis on the subordination of women and gender inequality. I asked myself why a loving god would want to keep a human being subordinated to another in a relationship so intimate as marriage. I delved into history, archaeology, science, etc. I listened to debates with Richard Carrier, Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, Aaron Ra, and others.
