About six years ago and after several years of study, I rejected Seventh-day Adventism and religion. This was a significant decision as my husband is a Seventh-day Adventist pastor. My original contention with the church was its emphasis on the subordination of women and gender inequality. I asked myself why a loving god would want to keep a human being subordinated to another in a relationship so intimate as marriage. I delved into history, archaeology, science, etc. I listened to debates with Richard Carrier, Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, Aaron Ra, and others.
My husband was penalised because of my apostasy. He was moved to an administrative post at headquarters and was told he could not minister to members without his spouse. However, after a couple of years, he is now allowed to speak in churches since he is also a professional counseling psychologist.
I was born in Martinique, French Antilles. I hold dual citizenship: French and Bahamian. I am a retired educator, administrator, corporate trainer, and much more. I love research and the arts. My hobbies are dressmaking, making window treatments, reading, swimming, weight training, and travelling.
My husband and I have been married for 42 years. We have two married children and four grandchildren. I love people. Of my six siblings, five have left the Seventh-day Adventist Church, although two of them were pastors. My eldest sibling is a retired Seventh-day pastor. He will never leave the church. My late Mother was a licensed Seventh-day Adventist Bible Instructor, field and radio evangelist, and former academic teacher.
