I have learned to treat my animals on my own. They only are vaccinated when I travel as they always accompany me. After one vet wanted to charge me $150.00 to put down a 25 lb dog (20 years ago. I got it done for $45. ) I reevaluated my procedures. My dogs live to an average of 16 years. They are fed raw hamburger & vegetables. I have learned how to euthanize them with ether, a very gentle death. I currently have an 18 year old dog in the freezer awaiting burial in the spring. With still too many dogs languishing for want of a home, I will not treat a dog for terminal illnesses, but provide palliative care, unless it is a puppy. As sorrowful as it is, I do let them go peacefully into the realm of earth's embrace, & open my heart to another.
