How German News Covered Trump's NATO Visit - YouTube
MsDemeanour comments on Sep 27, 2018:
"Sprechen sie Douche?" I only just noticed that! hilarious.
I am a very tolerant person.
MsDemeanour comments on Sep 27, 2018:
Thing is, to be an atheist, or at least an agnostic, one tends to be a critical thinker. We look at the evidence, and weigh up the results. Being thinking science based people, we also tend to be environmentalists, humanists, tolerant or race and sex and pro social justice. Now this would be the antithesis of a Trump supporter......just sayin.

I think it's cultural too. "I am muslim, jewish, catholic" is about your history, your identity and as you say your tribe. In fact there are some who call themselves muslim atheists or jewish atheists..... which describes their cultural roots but don't agree with the dogma. The muslim world would consider me and most of you as 'christian' just because we are grouped together and our cultural background is what is being described.

MsDemeanour comments on Sep 13, 2018:
25 yrs ago I was a government employee. I worked in an office with my junior and obviously much younger (male employee). The amount of people who would come to the door and address him, thinking he was the boss because he was male still rankles me. Ok I know this is nothing compared with the violence that others have been subjected to. The continued violence toward women who happen to wear the hijab in a western country; the violent attacks on men simply because they were gay. The daily violence and discrimination faced by the Indigenous people of my own country. But perhaps my tiny experience with discrimination gives a tiny bit of insight into what minority groups must suffer. Is that presumptuous? I hope not
We hear news of thousands of women being raped, but we never hear the news of a man being raped.
MsDemeanour comments on Sep 13, 2018:
Are you talking about being sodomised by another man? Women too can be ferocious and predatory but considering most violent crimes are carried out by men I don't think you need to be on the look out for a violent woman lurking in the park to attack you. They called their child Star Cloud.
MsDemeanour comments on Sep 12, 2018:
I think if the child is brought up in a loving safe environment s/he will probably determine orientation and gender soon enough. I am reminded of raising my sons and so many times gender stereotypes gave way to biology. One example. I wanted no toy guns in my house. I recall my 3 year old eating the triangular shaped sandwich and leaving the crust. He held hte crust up and said "Bang. Bang". This is just one of many examples. I am not about to argue with millions of years of evolution. Calling their kid star cloud ffs just makes me think they're just after their 15 mins at the expense of their child. There are so many normal unisex names eg Cody, Taylor etc etc. 'Star Cloud' is just a complete wank and unfair to the kid

Well if you think exploitation of workers by the owners of production is a fair system you have no idea what it is like for the working poor. Look at western companies exploiting workers in developing countries while raking in massive profits. Those workers, including children work for a pittance so we can live in our throw away society. Even in our own countries the divide of the rich and poor is growing to an extent that it is immoral.

Dr Donald Hoffman has discovered that seeing accurately is not beneficial; the opposite is the case.
MsDemeanour comments on Sep 7, 2018:
I am struggling over your post sorry. Hoffman hasn't 'discovered' anything. He, like all scientists, have theories. I just want to get that out of the way first. Now what do you mean by 'seeing accurately is not beneficial'? And what do you mean by 'all life is in the same boat'? Are we talking people? or all life? I'm not sure I understand about 'dreams of the future' either. There's no evidence of that occurring. I see subconscious as our automatic reactions. From our most basic eg flight of fight, to driving a car on automatic pilot. Consciousness, is what we are focused on. Both are part of the mind or brain. And both are equally important because subconsious allows us to react quickly and efficiently based on past experience or evolutionary development. Consciousness allows us to modify or adjust those subconscious reactions as required. Perhaps I am missing the entire point of your post.

Median Age of This Website?
MsDemeanour comments on Aug 31, 2018:
I don't think the median age tells us anything much. It's simply the middle number between 18 and 80. It is 48.5 cos you have to be at least 18 to join and most people over 80 don't use a computer (either illiterate or dead). What is more interesting is what is the specific age group that is using this site.
