For some reason, this appealed to the uneducated masses who never could understand the more formal language of statesmen/women. I sincerely hope this trend doesn't continue.

(this was said while other males laughed uproariously). I was shy kid and hated any sort of attention. This stuff had me in tears. And contrary to your opinion, it wouldn't have mattered if it had been Leonardo DCap. I would not have welcomed this from ANYONE and neither do other women. Believe it or not this is NOT the way to pick up females. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect. I left this job knowing that there was recourse for me. There have been many studies indicating that lonely elderly are prone to depression which can lead to lower immunity and thus higher health risks. On the other hand I recall this chemist telling me that STI's are extremely prevalent in nursing homes. I guess there is no need to 'save yourself for marriage' by that age.

But what is needed is for this whole sexist culture to be addressed. Now if companies know they will have to fork out money to complainants then they will be more likely to ensure such instances are nipped in the bud. They will set in place sexual harassment workplace policies.

No matter how much your wife must protect and distance herself, I am sure she still loves her girl. Yes your situation is very different.
When I spoke of unconditional love, it was a healthy love. My children, despite losing their father at a very young age had a very stable and loving upbringing. They were secure in my love but there was discipline because I felt a responsibility to role model and teach values and boundaries. The result has been 4 admirable young men I am very proud of. I realise I am very lucky BUT I did put my own life on hold when I raised them. I put them before anything and anyone, including myself. Now my life is my own and I am very happy to reclaim my life and perhaps be lucky enough to have a relationship one day.

Are they really depressed because they're vegan? Or is it just that sensitive or self-absorbed people or hermits are more likely to be depressed? As for misanthrope, I guess you can be passionate about that, but I have found vegans to be very social, people who appreciate all living things. They often stick together to support one another. They have a cause....to educate.
On a personal note, I consider myself a humanist but not that humans are more important than animals or plant life. We are interdependent. Humans are more evolved but with that we have a responsibility to oversee a balanced ecosystem and healthy planet. To do this we may need to cull a few humans (since we are overpopulated with people) to save orangutans, polar bears, koalas, black rhino, certain turtles and help clean up the planet. And if we are to cull people I'd start with the trophy hunters. So lets say I'm a selective misanthropist. :D . NB Please don't take this as a personal attack on your opinions. I like to debate and throw out different ideas.

I understand that programs targeting poor socio-economic groups can help bring them 'up to scratch'. I also know that IQ can be increased biologically as neurons struggle to understand new concepts. But people are often trapped in their cultural/ economic surroundings. Your gov't might be pouring $ into underprivileged kids (I somehow doubt it) but mine certainly isn't. This means the status quo will remain, regardless of aptitude.
In the case of genetics, if you don't accept that intelligent parents are more likely to have intelligent kids then you know nothing about evolution and natural selection.

I don't know a single work place where I haven't worked where the work place hasn't improved by a balance of the sexes. The G7 summit is a big dick contest on the world stage. The whole gov't culture needs to change. We need parliament to be made up of experience people with backgrounds in not just banking but social services, the armed services, health department, science, education, public transport. (perhaps a little less of the actors).

We can call DOCS if things are really bad but the child would have to be in real danger to be taken away from family. Most of these parents have addiction or mental health problems that inhibit their growth. We need to lift people out of poverty, ensure that people have jobs (even if a 4 day week becomes the norm). We can't force parents to do parenting courses. There are a lot more issues involved than just parenting.
