Yes. It takes some serious soul searching on both partners parts. You have to be honest with yourself about what it is that your really want. If you want your partner to be able to experience sex with others then what is it that makes your jealous? Jealousy, in my experience, is an expression of insecurity in the relationship. If you know the sex isn't going to harm your relationship then there should be no reason to be jealous... Unless there is something that you want from your partner that you observe someone else giving them. You listen attentively so they describe what it was that they liked about it. You are content knowing that your partner is on top of the world right now and you may even experience a bit of euphoria yourself. Never once did you want to be the ice cream nor were you jealous of it. Most likely because you are certain that the ice cream can never replace you as their partner. In order to achieve this level of un-jealousy your partner needs to be able to communicate exactly that... Well, there was a thing. I thought the things was going nicely at a slow pace as I was also looking to change career and start a new life for myself, so that was perfect. Then, because I'm a slut there were three or four other things all vying for my attention. Not satisfied with those things I went in search of more things. I don't know why I wanted to complicate my life, but I did. Right now, the first thing has become a wonderful friendship which I believe is going to last forever. A lot of the other things are just not going to happen for various reasons. One thing is promising but things worth having take much more ground work before they can actually be called a thing, so I can't consider that one yet. There is a very wonderful thing happening right now, we have known each other for years, been living in some of the same circles just one friend removed. Recently we have been talking and it seems we have more than just a few things in common. I think we are communicating well and are each setting our expectations at appropriate levels. I think I am ready to meet them for dinner sometime and see if there is chemistry. If so then this thing could be the start of something very beautiful, only time will tell.

When and if I enter into a long-term committed romantic relationship, there will be boundaries. Boundaries which will put limits on freedoms and autonomy for both of us. I don't play Goose-Gander games so we will both determine which boundaries are proper for our relationship at that time. In everything else, we will still have the freedoms and autonomy that we enjoyed as single adults. Where there are boundaries, they need to be respected in order for a healthy relationship to flourish. Within those boundaries yes, there is still freedom to move and make decisions. Now granted, my relationship may have boundaries like "No sex with anyone you haven't introduced me to" or "If you are going to blow another man, you at least have to let me watch because I think that might be hot!". I may even have a boundary about never stealing food from my plate, I don't care how delicious those fries look! Of course, other relationships will have their own boundaries which will be defined by those in it. Within those boundaries, yes full freedom and automation is extremely important for the relationship to be healthy.

After my 20 year marriage that was like about 27 minutes since I had spent the last year of that marriage mucking through a nasty divorce. When my committed relationship ended after two years I spent 8 months moping about my apartment at the injustice of it all. Then, after the mourning there is self-discovery.
