Haha hold on!
Paddypereira comments on Nov 16, 2018:

Snow and sleet today. And schools are still open in DC. I love the snow, but not the sleet!
Paddypereira comments on Nov 15, 2018:
I hate the snow with a vengeance. First time I saw snowing was Xmas day, 2004. Loved it at the time. 2009 and 2010 we had blizzards here and I started loathing it.

Paddypereira comments on Nov 14, 2018:

Your favorite music CD
Paddypereira comments on Nov 14, 2018:
Well, I prefer the old vinyl records. All my Black Sabbath, Nightfall of Candlemass, Fly By Night of Rush, Under Jolly Roger of Running Wild... The list is huge!!! CD'S, Murder Ballads of Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Tales of the sands of Myrath (a fantastic Prog Metal band from Tunisia), Mob Rules of Black Sabbath... I better stop, the list would be like gigantic.

Great stuff! Happy for you. As I managed to see my favourite band three times, when I got the chance I simply took it. It's always a moment to remember. ;-)
You speak English?
Paddypereira comments on Nov 10, 2018:
Well, being English my second language because I'm Portuguese, I think you shouldn't be so strict about that. As I've always been good at languages, I know many that aren't. As I've been living in Ireland for 14 years, English comes very natural to me, it's my day to day language. So someone from Spain or Germany, for example, who might not be so good at English, don't they deserve a bit of understanding about their limitations on the language?
Do you eat less meat?
Paddypereira comments on Nov 9, 2018:

What are the biggest challenges you face as an atheist?
Paddypereira comments on Nov 9, 2018:
Well, I have the same challenges as anyone else, it doesn't change by the fact that I'm agnostic/atheist. Life doesn't get any different.
Anyone else here enjoy drinking?
Paddypereira comments on Nov 8, 2018:
I drink socially. I prefer a high quality ale that I can drink and enjoy slowly. A good red wine with a good meal. Sometimes a good whiskey or a shot of vodka.
Remember!
Paddypereira comments on Nov 8, 2018:
Can I drink beer or wine instead??? Nothing against water, just my preference...
Last Friday I was traveling from my home in Kerry to Longford by train.
Paddypereira comments on Nov 7, 2018:
In Portugal we have Fatima, that is a hoax. The so called "Our Lady" made an apparition to 3 little kid shepherds.
Voting.....
Paddypereira comments on Nov 6, 2018:
I haven't been voting due to bureaucratic problems. I should. Portugal, before 74 was a dictatorship and people couldn't vote.
You know that friend you have been meaning to call?
Paddypereira comments on Nov 5, 2018:
Jaysus, although I agree with the principle, at the moment I'm in a very anti-social mood. At the moment I wish to be left alone for a while.

In Poland they put it in the freezer. It tastes a lot better.
Is This Taboo?
Paddypereira comments on Oct 29, 2018:
If people want to do so, that's their choice. I've never had the chance to get married, I think not having sex at 46 would be quite cruel when you have hormones that dictate your sexual behaviour, but that's my opinion. Morally, I don't think there's anything wrong with sex before marriage, but people are entitled to their opinion and posture on life.
What makes/made you happy today?
Paddypereira comments on Oct 27, 2018:

Paddypereira comments on Oct 24, 2018:
They say hope is the last thing to die.
This will be my first post here, and it is very difficult to write, as silly as that may seem.
Paddypereira comments on Oct 23, 2018:
Welcome.
Has your Atheism affected your patriotism?
Paddypereira comments on Oct 23, 2018:
I'm Portuguese. My level of patriotism is telling the best of my country and culture, use my language with pride but I wouldn't die for my country, I don't think it deserves it. That's me. Other people will have different attitude and there's nothing wrong with that. I know many people will disagree with my attitude but that's part of life.
How to reply when someone says 'have a blessed day'
Paddypereira comments on Oct 23, 2018:

He who owes nothing fears nothing.
Atheist = Depressed?
Paddypereira comments on Oct 22, 2018:
I don't think there's any relation between being atheist and depression. My older brother is bipolar and he's religious. Of course there will be atheists /agnostics that suffer from depression but I don't think you can relate things.
What's the best response to "why are you so quiet'?
Paddypereira comments on Oct 21, 2018:

What would you consider "The meaning of life" to be?
Paddypereira comments on Oct 19, 2018:
Well, I follow Monty Python on that.
If your pet could talk, what would it say to you?
Paddypereira comments on Oct 18, 2018:
I don't have, unfortunately. If it was a dog, I think would try to tell me :"Paddy, pet me!" If was a cat, would tell me "Feed me, you bastard!!!" :-P
Which one would you prefer in your life; catch up in person or mainly social media?

Paddypereira comments on Oct 16, 2018:
Well, I don't give much importance if my other half is believes in God or not. When has to work out, it's not that important.

Arguments and debates
Paddypereira comments on Oct 15, 2018:
I had a great debate with a Muslim in Egypt where we wouldn't agree, of course. The guy was from Yemen and I could see he was highly educated, the way he spoke wasn't from an average guy. Until now, I never got anyone that I enjoyed so much debating the existence or non-existence of God.
As a group of mostly open minded people, I am surprised by the number of persons who are openly ...
Paddypereira comments on Oct 13, 2018:
My first intervention here had a reply from someone who took his /her beliefs as facts and could have easily turned out sour but I guess it's normal when human beings are involved.
Political correctness was not even the original term it was called Alternate insert target here.
Paddypereira comments on Oct 13, 2018:
Many that complaint about others being racist, homophobic, sexist or whatever are often worse than the ones that they criticise. The so called political correct sometimes is used to disguise cowardice. I admire people who can make good criticism, tell the truth that hurts without offending the person that has to hear it because they know how to express well their ideas. I'd rather someone blunt than people who say things indirectly. How come people don't know how to separate things any more?

Paddypereira comments on Oct 13, 2018:

Paddypereira comments on Oct 8, 2018:
I've had a date on Saturday, my first in years. I just went for it, although I don't think we're going to gel, it was great anyway. In the least, I got to know someone new.
Do you attract a certain type of the opposite sex? Do you have a preferred type?
Paddypereira comments on Oct 7, 2018:
Well, with me, there's no rule. A woman or has it to get me or doesn't. I'm not into blonde women but it means nothing.

Atheist political party

Well, all nations should have the political power separated from religion. Here in Europe already is like that for quite a few years.

Not only in science but in arts as well. Everything has it's advantages and disadvantages.
How many of you attend services, but are agnostic?
Paddypereira comments on Oct 5, 2018:
I don't. The last time I went to the church it was for friends wedding in Poland. That one was the best ever. The priest seemed to be good craic, telling jokes in the middle of the service. Unfortunately, I couldn't understand a word, it was in Polish.

Homosexuality?
Paddypereira comments on Oct 2, 2018:
I don't know. I had a classmate that would have very feminine posture, his amount of feminine hormones was high, if he's gay, that would explain his case. So, how far it's natural it's debatable.

Watchtower
Paddypereira comments on Sep 29, 2018:
My older brother used to be a JW. Basically, it's all the same, slightly different interpretation of the Bible. JW have a good sense of community between them but believe so much bs that isn't on the Bible that makes you wonder where it came from.
I've asked this question in a different forum, and the answers were interesting.
Paddypereira comments on Sep 29, 2018:
Well, I'm using online dating and see how it goes. Whenever has to happen will happen.
So I grew up in a rather religious Muslim family and I remember my family being pretty superstitious...
Paddypereira comments on Sep 28, 2018:
Jaysus, no!!! There's always silly superstition but those you described are quite weird.
Are you an example for people around you?
Paddypereira comments on Sep 25, 2018:

Paddypereira comments on Sep 25, 2018:

Today, a guy tried to pass me a flyer for the Universal Church of The Kingdom of God.

Common sense isn't that common any more, I'm afraid.
Men who never learned to cook
Paddypereira comments on Sep 22, 2018:
I can cook a bit. I live on my own. To cook for myself, I never bother too much, just to feed myself in a satisfactory manner. Cooking for a few friends, that gives me a kick. I don't do it often, unfortunately. It's always a good thing when you can cook a bit.

Why do young guys think sarcasm is positive?
Paddypereira comments on Sep 21, 2018:
When used for sense of humour, it's positive, I think. It also depends on how it's used though. I have a mate who is quite sarcastic but he uses it in his particular way that I find funny. I might be wrong on this but it's a way to see things.

I could use some words of wisdom, friends.
Paddypereira comments on Sep 19, 2018:
I don't know what to tell you, people will try to help you but everyone has a different opinion and do things differently. While you're working there keep your journal going, write down everything. One thing for sure is to try to find a better workplace. I believe you will make the decision when the time comes for the best or for the worst. I'll be here and support you, specially after passing through a similar situation, not as heavy as yours though. All the best, don't give in, never surrender.
