Reposted from another post; When I was in Seattle, I knew a Field Rep from Southland. Steve Titus and I ran into each other once in a while. One day while watching the news, I read Steve had been arrested for rape. I was shocked. The facts started to come out "On October 12, 1980, a 17-year-old girl was raped in an isolated area just south of the Seattle-Tacoma airport, and she described her attacker as a white man with a beard who was driving a blue car. The same night, Steve Titus was out in Seattle with his fiancée, celebrating her 21st birthday, when he was pulled over by police. Titus, who had no criminal record other than a driving citation, agreed to be photographed by police after they informed him that a man fitting his physical description who was also driving a blue car had raped a teenager near the airport that evening. Titus was not concerned by the encounter with police, but two days later, police officers showed up at his office and arrested him for the rape. Police informed Titus that the victim had picked his photograph out of a photo lineup. She reportedly said, “This one is the closest. It has to be the one.” Read the whole story. They killed him. Wrong guy. I had also bought a new car that month and I lived four blocks from where it happened. Temp plates also. Two door import. I'm sure they looked at my car now. Ever since the seventies, we were taught in the military we have the right to refuse a illegal order. My first lesson was in Boot camp. The Barrack chief was a racist asshole and a arrogant abuser. He called a meeting in the day room and "ordered" everybody to attend. He stated he was going to hold a "trial" of a person that was smoking without permission. As soon as I heard this, I got up and said he was holding this without authorization and it is moot. I walked out first and surprised when the whole barracks followed me. I was proud of them. I participated in his Captains court martial for breaking into the civilian lockers. What revenge. He lost a stripe and got sent back to week two in basic training.

It depends on where you live. If you live in Alaska how would you feel? If you live in downtown NY, probably not? That's why different laws are required for each state, county. But some laws are not disputable at the federal level. We had a cougar kill at the end of the block last month. Black bears are common here. And the coyotes are everywhere. So, no protection for me? That's stupid. I have one shotgun, and I don't know what kind it is. Anymore than I can name the brands of tools in my garage. But a 21 year old buying a AR 15? That's just loony. Or a 500 magnum? Up the age to thirty. The younger are not as mature as we were. (If a law can limit age, it can also set a new age limit)
