Whenever I drive to the Keys one thing I notice about new construction; they're not only using more "stilt" structural foundations, they're raising their driveways.
I must take pics of this new wooden bridge built over dry land near me here in Ft. Pierce;
It had to have been expensive...several hundred feet long, at least 10 feet above the (still) dry land below it....but obviously planning for the future. It goes from the main road (A-1-A) to the beach....where they're planning a housing project.
Remember - the wealthy can afford insurance. They're betting that a storm will take out their property....so they can rebuild better - and higher, of course.

25 August 2019 - Diet Diary - Took another day off yesterday.

I'm totally convinced that we're battling our inner child pre-pubescent food habits...the ones our loving, "spoiling" parents gave us.
I have to say that with a caveat;
too many are "angry" with or hold resentment against their doting parents who - out of love - and a need for us to "settle down"....often overfed us...and gave us the eating habits that we have for life.
That caveat is....don't be angry with them. They did the best they could. If you were a doting and spoiling parent....have no regrets. Again....you did what was "right for the times".
It's these future parents who I'm concerned about.
I even see my son and his wife pushing the "eat up/finish up" habit on my unsuspecting grandson...and I as a grandparent have already overstepped by boundaries....so I foresee my little grandson growing up with overeating habits...and I can only say, decades from now...."I told you so"....

2. If you're confronting a profanity-laced name-caller, and they don't play by the rules...then just block them.

They're stuck in their ignorant name calling strategy - that's how they were raised and they don't know any other way. They're most likely not intentionally "trolling" you....that's actually giving them too much credit...they're just angry that you're right and they're wrong...and they don't know how to concede.

Chances are good that we will have runaway global warming that will kill most food crops in less than 100 years...causing many mass migrations and wars, then diseases and finally the evolution of a superbug to finish us.
We will set the evolution clock back anywhere from 5 to 100 million years or so....reptiles, fish, and sea mammals will thrive; most land mammals will perish.
I'm betting chimpanzees will start hominid evolution all over again...but if all chimps and apes go...then I go with brain-opposable thumb-tool evolution of Madagascar mini-mammals.

There's Soy pasta; very high protein. There's high and low protein pastas...go with the high protein ones. I don't know of any potatoes or rices that have significant protein content; so consider cutling down on rice and potatoes.

Same with fish Fresh is nice; but with the super fast on-the-boat freezing techniques...that fish filet is just as good as fresh IMO....and far cheaper...and pure protein.
Same goes with the farm raised fish. If you've ever been to EPCOT (Environmental Prototype Community of Tomorrow) you can actually see fish farming in action.

-supporting immigrants and poor native or otherwise who are still struggling to survive
The classic Conservative strategy is excellent; minimalist government control. Slow and conscientious considerations for new proposals. All good and wise. I, too consider myself a political conservative, but I'm also a social and economic progressive.
It's the new Conservatives, those who are aligned with arrogance, greed, religion, racism, sexism and selfishness that not only saddens and frustrates me....but disappoints me that some good people...like yourselves....align themselves with them.
I don't believe you're a true full conservative.
And I hear/feel/comprehend why you might be against some social services - we've all seen and met abusers of the system from the family that depends on welfare to the jerk down the block who fakes an injury to collect disability.
But I sense that's not really you. I think you threw that out to play devil's advocate.

@AmiSue That's exactly what I was going to say; cold snaps during winter are critical to controlling spring and summer "blooms" of pests...with climate shift/global warming, and milder winters...we will see worse rather than better blooms.

It was amazing....I noticed a sudden reduction in pressure - ear - popping experience....then a section of our roof was sucked off.. a neighbor's shsd ended up in my bedroom...if we were still in there when that shed came crashing in I doubt I'd be here today Shocking...yet awesome experience. There's a FB page "I survived Andrew"...check it out...

I sure hope if Trump does anything about our occupation there he makes moves to bring the troops home - but that will go against his record defense spending budget proposal to I doubt that will happen.
