How much does a battery cost? Where do I send the money? In what form? I'm not going to be downloading Facebook again.
Robecology replies on Apr 3, 2019:
Lead-acid batteries are cheap, heavy, dangerous to handle and short-lived; but they can be had for as low as 0.09 cents a KWhr. Lithium Ion batteries are expensive, light, safer to handle, and long lived; but they are many times more expensive than lead-acid batteries. If you or anyone want to talk about funding help, contact Robert Wylie Hyde; CEO of Analemma Solar corp. His email is WylieR18@yahoo.com. or RHyde@analemmasolar.com Ask him for more info. While we could do a lot worse (as in what we have now), I do have a problem with him wanting to punish whistle blowers like Chelsea Manning and Edward Snowden.
Robecology replies on Apr 3, 2019:
I did find this; "I certainly agree that we've learned things about abuses and that one way or another that needed to come out," Buttigieg said. "But in my view, the way for that to come out is through Congressional oversight, not through a breach of classified information." https://www.cbsnews.com/news/2020-candidate-pete-buttigieg-troubled-by-clemency-for-chelsea-manning/ So it's not that he wanted to "punish" them; he just didn't feel good as a former army officer about their pardons.

@MojoDave I agree to a small extent with the OP...we're getting too complex with our tech. Combine that with the waning of simple labor jobs...and it's like we need 12 to 16 + years of education to survive. Whales, Dolphins and the other Cetaceae, on the other hand...either "figured it out" or evolution took them away from technology. Which is maybe what we need. Maybe we need a "dark age" to get back to basics.

Does the constitution really give us all the right to bear arms? It's not as clear as some people claim
Robecology replies on Mar 28, 2019:
The 2nd amendment was - and is...laughable... in its' ancient grammar, and in its' oblivious intent.... Let me quote it... "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." First of all...what is a "Well regulated militia"? police? National guard? a rag-tag group of pretend soldiers? What was it then...and does it mean the same today? For decades, legal scholars and advocates on both sides of the gun control issue have differed over the intended meaning of the Founding Fathers. Did they mean that only those citizens who are organized into official militias by local or regional jurisdictions have the right to bear arms? Or that anyone can keep arms because they might eventually join a “well-regulated” militia? And what about the storage of the arms themselves? Can citizens keep them in their homes, or only in armories that supply the cited well-regulated militias? Further, even assuming that every law-abiding citizen can own firearms, does that right extend to locked-and-loaded open carry in public? This is why many want a constitutional amendment that at least upgrades the language of this vague, absurd, and badly dated "amendment". https://alumni.berkeley.edu/california-magazine/just-in/2017-08-28/so-about-well-regulated-militia-part-constitution

The theory of evolution. Everyone I have met who doesn't "believe" in evolution has not understood it.
Robecology replies on Mar 28, 2019:
@Mcflewster "Fittest" is a general term...it can mean which organism is most "flexible" or "adaptable"...but certain genes have different "frequencies" of appearance...so a relatively inflexible/rigid/narrow-scoped-niche organism can turn out to be the "fittest" for survival. As Homo sapiens has. For example; Raccoons are doing so well because they're very "adaptable" to both diet and habitat...so they're good survivors because they're "flexible". Humans evolved a very narrow niche, however. We're essentially "naked" so we evolved a need for clothing. We're stuck with requiring 12 or more years of education to compete for survival because we're overcrowding our habitat...so the strongly educated will survive better. We've become so dependent on technology, farming, hospital-health care and media, that few - if any - of us can survive without in raw climate situations. Consider the Cetaceans. Very flexible and adaptable. No technology. No money. No hospitals. Advanced communication. No farming. No clothes. The children play all day. The adults make love all day. No "formal" education required....and if it weren't for us competing with them for food, they'd probably be the dominant being on the planet. If there's a massive climate disaster, and most - if not all - land plants and animals perish....evolution will rewind 50-100 million years...and its likely Cetacean lifestyle will occur among the animals that start over - and crawl up on the land-scoured landscape of the future. So the next dominant land species might live just like Dolphins do today....on land.
This is Still happening..

Really....I don't understand why this meme includes the police. Sure there are a few bad cops but the majority are good, honest, caring people. I back the Blue.
Robecology replies on Mar 28, 2019:
@Alvinsmama - It has to do with the sorting system within each profession. Police, like politicians, have a "protect the members" strategy that allows quite a build-up of the corrupt, the dark-hearted, the morally bankrupt "parasites". A few get caught...most get away with a life of corruption....but they "learn to play the game" well. These "bad apples" put on a good show, but hide their wrong-doings all too well...and get a "wink of approval" from their fellows; and yes; they spoil others along the way. Of course, I/we have no proof; this is just gut feelings. and IMO. Lawyers are closer to police and politicians in their ability to "pull off" a corruption, a white lie, a morally bankrupt decision...and get a "wink and a nod" from their brothers and sisters in the profession. This doesn't happen nearly as much in teaching - although it does happen. A teacher who's not performing well is noticed and attacked by students, parents, administration....and will be ousted by fellow teachers....not protected - as it should be in all the above jobs. The medical profession is a tight one who also hides their "bad apples"....not as much as cops and politicians....but I'd say at a similar frequency of lawyers. I had a mistake happen with me - that caused a growth that had to be removed (fortunately not cancerous....but obviously caused by improper use of an endoscope). Two doctors concurred - it was a mistake - but when I asked about a lawsuit....both docs were mum. So the Medical profession hides their cheaters, and "bad apples" as well...but the bad apples don't act "parasitic" nor "dark"... they just get sloppy - then cover their tracks. So I side with @NoGod on this...

Robecology replies on Mar 27, 2019:
Bingo. You nailed it. It comes down to simply going for "absolute honesty about portion size". Calorie counting works...but takes too much measurement. How many am I burning? Does doing regular exercise make me burn more or fewer? In general I've discovered it's just not nearly as accurate nor successful as controlling portion size. So you're right.... It comes down to portion size. Self control. Not pushing for that "full feeling". Allowing hunger in to ur lives. As a scientist, I know that every animal depends on hunger to thrive and do well. I'm sure scientists doing nutritional studies will eventually find life-extending virtues of letting oneself be hungry....so I try to feel that "pang" every day.

I took the question to the "community senate" and this idea popped up....let the folks who might be interested in being called "moderator" and/or "originator" speak up, present their case for "taking over" as moderator/originator. I think this is a great idea! (thanks, @FilthyMonkeyMen!) There is apparently no perks. The only advantage you have is the power to remove posters who get off topic, offensive, argumentative, etc. It takes the time for someone who's on the computer, and on this site, often. I don't consider myself qualified in these areas. So speak up....any folks out there want the job? It's voluntary...and it's time consuming....but it gives you power.....

Blunt rose to fame in 2004 with the release of his debut album Back to Bedlam, achieving worldwide fame with the singles "You're Beautiful" and "Goodbye My Lover". The album has sold over 11 million copies worldwide, topping the UK Albums Chart and peaking at number two in the US. "You're Beautiful" was number one in the UK, the US and a dozen other countries. Back to Bedlam was the best-selling album of the 2000s in the UK.[3] Blunt has sold over 20 million records worldwide.[4][5] He has received several awards, including two Brit Awards—winning Best British Male in 2006—two MTV Video Music Awards and two Ivor Novello Awards, as well as receiving five Grammy Award nominations. Blunt was a reconnaissance officer in the Life Guards, a cavalry regiment of the British Army, and served under NATO in the Kosovo War in 1999. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate for Music in 2016 by University of Bristol. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Blunt
