Darn; How did I miss this? It's Saturday....and I'm finally getting to post this; I asked @Flippantlama about this idea a few days ago...and I'm so glad it's prompted folk to clean up a bit more - especially those of us with more time on our hands and this concern about avoiding infection. The thing that blew me away with how dirty it was - The grill above the microwave. Go ahead...check yours. Isn't it surprisingly greasy? Anyway....I had to unscrew three screws to get it off....then I saw this grease-laden filter - tried cleaning it...ughhh....not getting cleaned enough to reuse (and if you know me...that pisses me off!!) - so I made a new one. Long story short...look around that kitchen cooking area. Check those filters under the microwave - or above the oven/stove. I'm betting they're in need of serious cleaning.!

I'll turn on the TV at 9 PM (EDST) to watch Maddow....and since the news is so starkly depressing lately ( she nearly was in tears the other night) I shut it off early. Friday nights I "binge" on two hours of TV...Maddow followed by "Real TIme" with Bill Maher. I did watch a couple of movies recently; both about rock stars. 1. Rocket Man; about Elton John 2. Bohemian Rhapsody about Freddie Mercury and Queen. The latter won more awards....not sure why...maybe that the star has passed? Both were/are gay....(no - I'm not) but the music and performances on both were stunning and superb...watch if you get a chance. Go in. The danger is not so much "will I die" as "will I get the disease, hardly notice it, and spread it to others" IMO. I suggest you "please your boss" but go in with a container of sanitary wipes, perhaps a mask or two...and sanitary (thin, latex) gloves. If you don't have gloves, wash often. Wipe down all the surfaces you touch. Don't let your boss get "up in your face" - unless you have a mask on. ...and IMO homemade masks are pretty useful. The virus itelf will - if independently airborne - siip through most home-made masks....but this - and most other diseases - hitch a ride on dust or water particulates....which are easily trapped in even home-made masks. ...Go in. We need to break the paranoia of "getting out and about"...just be judicious. Don't absorb germs, get infected, then pass the infection on to those you know and love who might not be as healthy as you...and thus might suffer more. Again; I'm not a doctor; although I did teach, and took tests to teach health to adults. My advice could be wrong.

On a more serious note; This might not be over soon; The word "quarantine" originates from quarantena, the Venetian language form, meaning "forty days". Look at it this way.... We will never have a war with China. Everything in our homes...has a "made in China" label on it. Everything. You must have eaten in the original fast food restaurant... a Chinese restaurant? They were here over 100 years ago...decades before Burger King, Shoney's and McDonalds. The Chinese are here to stay. Their kids are the smartest ones in schools. Go in to any hospital. Filled with Chinese Americans.
