First Law: Population growth and / or growth in the rates of consumption of resources cannot be sustained. So much easier said than done. China got bitterly condemned for their "1 child per family" rule; but now they're moving in to world dominance in everything. Can we convince the "free" world that the root to all problems is to get our population to stop growing ASAP? I don't think so. I'm afraid our children's children will see much greater world disasters from drought and diseases than we ever saw from all the world wars - including the atomic massacres in Japan. Today 384,701 people will be born and 156,936 people will die, resulting in a net gain of 227,765 humans (give or take a few thousand). That's a net growth of 158 more births, than deaths, per minute. This year 140 million babies will be born and 57 million people will die. That's a predicted increase of 83 million. Our train is getting heavier; and barely slowing down....and headed for a derailment or bridge-out.
