Ok now I think I understand what you were saying at the end. Say I totally believed everything is a creation of my mind, so I jumped out of the tenth floor of a building to prove it, my mind could blank that out and continue on with the reality it had formed. The reason for my mind doing that would be because the "jumping out the window and surviving" would not fit with the reality my mind made. Oh and, which I believe is true, this reality is not a creation of my mind; it is very possible someone has jumped out of a window and died because of their belief that none of this is real. Ok Dreadly, nice talking to you. Well that is if you really exist. Otherwise, it's been nice talking to myself.

Rudy1962 comments on Jan 9, 2018:
It might just be me but the statement/question seems filled with subtle passive aggressiveness.
Rudy1962 replies on Jan 22, 2018:
Well I will start by saying I'm not a mind reader. The part on agnosticism being noble when not "a tactic for lazy or evasive thinking" to me seemed to be an indirect way of saying it often is just that. That one could be a stretch, but it was followed up by, "I know you are not use to dealing with nobility in the US". Come on, you have to admit that is a slam followed by somewhat of a compliment. Again, it could just be me. However, if I take the passive part out it would read something to the effect of, "Agnostics are often lazy and evasive thinkers, and Americans are not noble." That's just my take on it.

Rudy1962 replies on Jan 21, 2018:
Yes. Life is complicated. The "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" has led many to be taken advantage of.. It depends on the situation. Personally I'm not a fan of "Do unto others as they do unto you". We have ongoing wars across the world because of folks doing that. I think a better one is, "A person does what they do because of who they are. We do what we do because of who we are. Hence have some self respect and don't let others take advantage of you, but don't feed the hate either. Acknowledge your emotions but respond with reason and make your reaction fit who you are and aspire to be. And strive for a response that will most likely produce a favorable outcome.". Sorry, didn't mean to get all preachy on you. Thou shall not get "preachy" on an agnostic website. Peace out.

@DavidLaDeau Thanks. No I didn't take offense to any of it. I have my own issues with the field. And yes I agree that sometimes it takes an odd ball to make needed changes. That is the basis of evolution right? It takes a mutation for evolution to occur.
Do People Understand That DACA Recipients Are Not Illegal Immigrants?
Dwight comments on Jan 21, 2018:
Judging from Facebook comments I have seen, no. The anti immigration crowd is pretty good about spreading misinformation. No human is illegal. Undocumented people caught up in the middle of this immigration reform nightmare deserve it break. They have shown to be a net benefit to our economy. The ...

Voter suppression. its a tactic. being the majority of the country is quite liberal, the extreme rt would loose every election. they don't want the other 40% voting.

Damn good question. Election/voting days are national days here in Norway. Most people have the day off, and you are not allowed to purchase alcohol that day.

As I get older I seem to have less patience for people. It is either because I'm becoming a cranky old man or my kids and job takes it all. In my personal time I'm less tolerant of a lot of behaviors. If only I had a yard I could yell at kids to get off of it.

Rudy1962 replies on Jan 14, 2018:
Some people are unable to be in a real and loving relationship. It is partly a maturity thing in a way. There is an old term, "narcissitcally wounded". Someone is completely self absorbed, and it causes them pain, but they have no self awareness so they continually look for and blame outside sources for their pain. Being in a relationship with someone like that is a nightmare. It makes sense they would focus most of their angst on their partner, who they completely believed would give them that internal happiness they lack. Being they have no self awareness, they also more often project the negative parts of themselves onto their partner. When the partner threatens to leave them they panic, because they have no internal strength to fall back on. They use emotional blackmail to try to hold on. They don't see it that way, or even consider that possibility, because they have no internal moral compass. It's the old "I hate you don't leave me" dilemma, and it really sucks to be on the receiving end or that. For a healthy unconditional love to work both partners have to be capable of that.

I'd take that day over a day with Joel.
