What is with the hatred of police officers?
Rudy1962 comments on Jan 15, 2018:
Well....The police don't call out the racist cops, or if they do they are ostracized. It's that "thin blue line" mentality. Then I see obvious examples of police killing unarmed civilians and other obvious examples of unjustified murder, and the police end up exonerated of all charges. This happens time and time again. I can't say I hate most police but I hate the system and it is corrupt.

Rudy1962 comments on Jan 13, 2018:
As has been pointed out here, she gave Dr. Phil his fame. As a therapist I find him shallow and offensive. Hell as a human being I find him shallow and offensive. Funny, that is the same view I have of religion. I believe it is harmful when a therapist takes on a God complex. Therapists should never assume because of their training and experience they know someone better than the person knows themselves, or some standard advice is going to apply to everyone. I hate to quote Cat Stevens again but it fits. "If they were right I'd agree, but it's them they know not me." What happened to Cat Stevens? I don't get it.
Apparently in 2013 Oprah made the comment that Athists cannot feel awe and wonder.
Rudy1962 comments on Jan 13, 2018:
I don't dislike Oprah. However, she is a prime example of how we confuse someone with charm as also being a deep, sound and a consistent thinker. Someone whose views we should cherish. Cat Stevens turned out to be a disappointment, but to quote a line from him. "I've known a lot of fancy dancers. People who could move you on the floor. But when you ask them, why you come here for, they say I don't know....". Time to start appreciating the socially awkward introverts.

It seems the problems you listed with the African Union are the same problems with Trump and his G.O.P. sheep in the house and senate:. Nepotism, Tribalism, income disparity, corruption and taking away people's Healthcare. Look at statistics on how the USA lines up with the rest of the industrialized world when it comes to life expectancy, infant mortality, etc... . It's not good. The orange douchebag said "why do we keep taking people" from what he called shitholes. It sure sounds like he was talking about the people of those countries, not the governments. Oh, and then he adds we should be getting more "people" from Norway. Perhaps the whitest country in the world. Hell if they came here they would lose their Universal Healthcare. I know conservative Christians from here have gone to Uganda to push their anti LGBT agenda, because they knew they could push it further there. No. Trump is not your friend. His comments were not made out of concern for human rights violations in any country that was lumped into his statement of the entire region.

Why do so many people in the US seek out therapy?
Rudy1962 comments on Jan 10, 2018:
Part of it is an increased isolation in this country. Connected to that is an ever increasing competitiveness that I believe has been pushed on us by out of control capitalism. Marketing usually plays on people's insecurities, and this is going to damage one's feelings of self worth.. When everybody is seen as competition it is obvious that would lead to one feeling isolated.

Rudy1962 comments on Jan 9, 2018:
Maybe it's to keep us all in when things really start getting bad here. In all seriousness, the whole stupid damn wall concept is just a con man throwing red meat to his racist base. There is no logic or reason behind it, only raw visceral emotional responses. Hell, his base isn't even willing to acknowledge his pivot away from his promise that Mexico would pay for it. Of course they were never going to pay for it. Of course the wall serves no rational purpose. "Ok illegal entry into our country is declining, so let's spend billions to build a wall and cut the benefits of struggling Americans". Trump, and the GOP spineless sheep following him, really suck.

Do you trust easily or do you trust no one?
Rudy1962 comments on Jan 7, 2018:
I've found it is easier to get by if I trust myself. I trust my intuition, I trust I can stand up for myself if I need to, I trust I will not take others behavior as an assault on my self esteem (we treat people the way we do because of who we are. Others treat us the way they do because of who they are - their behavior is a reflection of them not us). With the exception of children, at least hopefully. The only one we are guaranteed to be with our entire life is ourselves. We need to trust ourselves. Let others do what they may. Hopefully we will have some real and meaningful connections along the way, maybe those connections will last a long time, but there is no guarantee they will. If someone betrays me it will hurt but it is out of my control and not a reflection on me. Also, have any of us not betrayed somebody in our life?
