Okay.
Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 22, 2018:
I don't think one has anything to do with the other. Worrying the future is something some do, dont, or learn not to. Being dead is nothing....literally. Dying, well that can be excruciating in a few ways - but we do have options.
This certainly fits me.

Atheist principles - would atheists be interested in listing basic atheist principles?

It seems to me that atheism has to be a belief.

The god concept is a paradigm of thought many haven't broken free from. Get past it.

This website compared to the Facebook site?
Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 22, 2018:
Only thing I use FB for is the groups in - atheist, existentialist, and music. Very rare I post anything outside of them. Anyone in real life I'll call or meet up. This site is interesting for the new people. The dating aspect is nearly nil, but that's fine with me. I prefer face to face contact for such things. I do like the set up, categories and such.

Sometime someone is talking about beauty of the univers being god’s creation.
Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 21, 2018:
Most, if any, can't even comprehend the distances and size of what's out there. I'm not sure humanity ever will. But we keep trying to put it in terms we do understand - it's our only option. . It's beautiful, but dangerous in spans of time we don't get either. Like, about 1500 objects on impact, or damn close, trajectory with earth. Many of evolutionary reset size. And those are only the ones we know about. . And the god paradigm....it ain't aging well.....at all.
We all know that it is not uncommon for people to post pictures 15-20 years old as current.

Political Hypocrisy
Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 21, 2018:
People tend to jump to their comfortable extreme and defend it against all comers with insult, badgering and violence if necessary. Everything is a debate one either wins or loses to them, there is no discussion. It's practically government policy in the US at this point. We have become a troll society.

Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 21, 2018:
Generally I seem to scare people. It's not just me, many people have told me this. Look, mannerism, the way I speak and what I speak of....a lot plays into it including their issues. It's something I've lived with most of my life, but I do know it prevents people, not just women, from interacting. I'm the kind of person most people "keep an eye on". Someone got me a T-shirt that says Trigger Warning on it. ?
Is Tradition worth keeping?

Movies of your life
Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 21, 2018:
Apocalypse Now is my favorite film. It's far more than just another war film. "Have you ever considered any real freedom...freedom from the opinions of others, even the opinions of yourself..." is a favorite, but the film is full of them. . Thin red line remake - "they want you dead or part of their lie"......" If we never meet, let me feel the loss" .
In your opinion what is the most likely thing that could halt human progress?
Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 21, 2018:
Nothing. Progress can be impeded, but not stopped. Given our short life span we have a skewed vision of evolution. But think of where humanity was even 200 years ago. That's roughly three life times. Still sucks in a lot of ways, but obviously many things have improved despite the impediments of some.

Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 21, 2018:

Regarding my post about "normal" ([agnostic.
Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 21, 2018:
I've met so-called normal people. I was not impressed. . Normal is whatever you want it to be. The key is not letting others dictate that to you. Imo. You don't have to fit anyone's reality but your own.

Morality: What are your thoughts on the connection between an action and its' context?
Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 21, 2018:
I'm somewhat a moral nihilist. Morals are useful but essentially pliable. Killing is bad, well, except when we say it isnt, etc. The issue for me is who gets to decide what's moral for anyone else.

Yes. It's wilful neglect leading to murder regardless the age of the victim.
Meditation has been studied in the US, scientifically since the 1960's.
Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 21, 2018:
They don't like anything they didn't think of. . Religions are just watered down magic practice. They use the methods they condemn in others. That's part of their game. . I meditate almost daily. Relaxation or focus. No spirit nonsense about it.

Regrets. Which is worse? To regret something you have done, or something you haven't done.
Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 20, 2018:
Something you haven't I suppose. I don't really regret anything. Even the most terrible experience taught me things. Also not one for impulsive behavior - if I do it I wanted to and didn't care about consequences. So there's nothing to regret or feel guilt/shame for.
