How's about levying some blame against the next largest holders, namely the Vanguard Group and Blackrock? Musk has been preoccupied with other endeavors besides Tesla, and funny how before Musk sold off alot of his Tesla stock the company was doing fairly well. No shortage of blame to go around. Also, technology is far from perfect, alot of trial and error involved before technology is perfected enough. Think you could do any better in such a position? I rather doubt it, but that's okay keep complaining about those who are actually trying to innovate and improve on current technology and thus make all of our lives more simplified.

That whole situation in Florida lacks context, and there appears to be needless fearmongering being promoted by some of the far-left progressive types. Newsweek gave that story a needs more context rating, which means we don't have the full story on that matter and thus should remain skeptical. From Newsweek: "The African American Studies AP course was blocked in its current form by DeSantis' administration, but the Florida Department of Education said it would reopen discussions about a revised version that was in compliance with state law." Sounds to me like the Florida Department of Education is certainly open minded on that matter. Here's a link to that source- https://www.newsweek.com/fact-check-did-ron-desantis-ban-ap-african-american-studies-florida-1775430 This was another interesting read, and begs the question that if DeSantis is truly guilty of promoting racism then why are they apologizing for accusing him of such? "Days after a member of Miami-Dade County’s Black Affairs board called Gov. Ron DeSantis “racist,” the leader of that volunteer panel apologized for the comment and said it did not reflect consensus. “Words matter,” Pierre Rutledge, chair of the Black Affairs Advisory Board, said at the start of a Friday press conference. “As chair, I must start by saying we want to pull that back,” said Rutledge, an administrator in Miami-Dade’s school system. “There’s nothing wrong with saying ‘We’re sorry.’ That’s not what we intended to say or be depicted by anyone. And that’s not the feeling of this board.” The link to that source, and worth pointing out that the Miami Herald leans to the left. Again, sounds like that whole ordeal was blown out of proportion and not what it seemed to be.- https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/miami-dade/article272040022.html
Florida Demanding Girls Report Menstrual Info to the State in Order to Play School Sports Florida...
SpikeTalon comments on Feb 7, 2023:
Hey @johnnyrobish, I think given the circumstances it might be appropriate to change your name to johnnyrubbish, because what you mentioned above was total misinformation garbage. Does it pain you people that much to actually research this stuff first before you go jumping to conclusions and spread misinformation in the process? From the Associated Press, a known left-leaning source: "CLAIM: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is requiring all female student-athletes in the state to provide detailed information about their periods in order to compete in organized sports. AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. The Florida High School Athletic Association is weighing the recommendation from an advisory committee, but no final decision has been made. DeSantis’ education commissioner is a member of the association’s board of directors and the commissioner also appoints three others, but the association is a private nonprofit organization, not a state agency under the purview of the governor’s office. THE FACTS: Social media users are suggesting the conservative Republican governor, who has been an outspoken critic of transgender athletes, is again using sports to stoke controversy as he weighs a run for president in 2024. “BREAKING: Ron DeSantis wants female student athletes to submit menstrual information. THIS IS INSANE!,” wrote one Twitter user in a post. “Ron DeSantis: The government has no right in telling federal employees to wear masks. Also Ron DeSantis: The government has every right to know when every single high school girl has her period,” wrote another Twitter user in a post that had been liked or shared more than 3,000 times as of Friday. “Ron DeSantis is the epitome of hypocrisy, and quite the creep!” But the proposed mandate hasn’t had final approval, and wasn’t developed by DeSantis’ office. Florida currently asks female high school athletes to provide information about their menstrual cycle on health forms required to participate in sports, but it is not mandatory." Also this- "The national guidelines say menstrual history is an “essential discussion for female athletes” because period abnormalities could be a sign of “low energy availability, pregnancy, or other gynecologic or medical conditions.” Female athletes/athletes with uteri who are not having menstrual periods are at increased risk of stress fractures. Another neutral source called Outsports concurs with the AP, and here's the links to both sources.- https://apnews.com/article/fact-check-desantis-florida-sports-female-athletes-160560972802 https://www.outsports.com/2022/10/12/23393286/menstrual-cycle-questions-female-athletes-states-high-school-trans-male-genital-inspection Yeah... some states already request genital inspections for...

Appellate Court Ruling Leaves Illinois Assault Weapons Ban on Hold – NBC Chicago
SpikeTalon comments on Feb 1, 2023:
Good ruling, because laws banning certain things seldom if ever at all work out as they were intended to do so. Nothing "common sense" either about such bans, just more redundant laws that we don't need any more of. Especially taking into consideration that the Anarchist Cookbook, which instructs readers how to craft their own homemade weapons, is widely available to download off of the Net, and with the advancement in 3D printing technology with the right equipment anyone can now 3D print weapons, and such weapons are being made more and more durable so as to last longer with frequent usage. That's not even taking into consideration the thriving black markets. Also, most such crimes are committed with handguns and not long rifles for what should be for the obvious reasons for such a choice, and said handguns are hardly "assault weapons". Now, some truly common sense laws that might actually help society as a whole for the better would be making sure anyone under age eighteen be required to stay in school, and overall improve the public education system (meaning reform the curriculum and fire poor performing teachers) so that every child receives a truly quality education. Then, reform the laws regarding mental health screening, to make it so that every citizen has easy access to such services if need be and promote regular mental health exams as part of a normal health regimen that is a desirable thing. Those would be a good start. Only problem with banning certain types of firearms is that the driving force behind such violent deeds would still exist and find another means of expressing such violence, hence we should/need to focus on the root of the problems that are plaguing our society, instead of emotional special pleadings directed at objects.

SpikeTalon comments on Jan 28, 2023:
Yes, because not only could the police be accused of violating the Fourth Amendment, they technically are also in violation of the Eighth Amendment as well regarding excessive force on their part. That said, I do not for one minute believe that every single police officer out there is corrupt and constantly violating constitutional rights, but I also think the crooked ones among us who violate their oath of service should be held responsible for their crimes. I know one could argue that to be a police officer these days means you'd have to be willing to engage in corrupt practices, and while that may apply in some cases an argument could also be made that such could be chalked up to naivety, in other words the police officers in question truly believing they are engaging in a wholly benevolent career and doing a valuable service to the community, and that wouldn't necessarily make them wrong or right. So in short, there are both decent and crooked individuals working in law enforcement, and the career of LE itself is not inherently benevolent or malevolent, as such results would largely depend upon the individuals in question and more directly the actions they choose to take. I know what I just said might not sit well with some of those who are vehement blue line backers, but I think that's an honest assessment on that matter looking at it strictly from an independent point of view. Also, I've no qualms in exercising my Second Amendment rights, and personally speaking I do not require any sort of police protections and also don't particularly feel any safer just because police are present, and are capable of providing my own security. Anyone who truly values individual liberty should always take a skeptical approach to anyone in positions of power and authority, knowing full well how human beings can be prone to corrupt behaviors. Lastly, regarding incidents of blatant police brutality please note my restraint on talking about the biggest factor in helping to promote such behaviors, police unions who have become so powerful that these days it's extremely difficult to get a cop fired for breaking the laws unless you've got some serious unimpeachable evidence proving wrongdoing and the case becomes big news sparking mass public outrage. Isn't that ironic, the progressive left are the ones responsible for putting undying support behind worker unions, and now some of these unions have created a monster that's proving not easy to keep under control, and the progressive left ultimately owns that mess. The Founders once warned about enemies both foreign and domestic, and nowadays no shortage of domestic foes to liberty, and just because one wears a badge does not automatically mean they have good/pure intentions. Respect and trust must be earned ...

Flash robs might be the greatest act of civil disobedience in my lifetime.
SpikeTalon comments on Jan 26, 2023:
I'm a bit conflicted on that one. Slave labor could hardly be considered a positive thing, but then again competition is a vital component to the free market system, and if a company/business could someone find a way to manufacture their goods cheaper and thus offer a cheaper alternative than what their competitors have to offer, well, think you know how that story often times goes... Maybe the solution in finding a compromise between getting rid of slave labor and keeping competitive prices on consumer goods is... flash mobs, or more appropriately put groups of individuals taking a coordinated and peaceful stand against slave labor practices? More people need to turn their backs on companies who hold such policies in favor of working for those who are fairer in that department, because if the slave labor lovers can't get enough of and keep workers to keep themselves in business, in time they'll be forced to go out of business. That's one of the more complex issues with no simplistic solution that would please everyone, and I can see the arguments from both perspectives regardless of whether or not I personally agree. I'm no expert on civil rights in China save for the fact I'm well aware they have considerably far less protections than we do here in the States, and that their Government is tyrannical. So not sure what the job options are like in China, maybe some of their citizens are content on working at a slave labor job, and that they might not view it as slave labor and are happy they have a job at all? If they have no qualms with what they're doing, not sure I should either? All that said, when possible I try to avoid the cheaper competitors in favor of products made by fellow Americans, which helps fellow Americans. Again, I'm split on that issue. Corporate greed is a problem, and they make it look bad for the rest of us capitalists who aren't nearly as greedy, and the corporate heavies are the ones behind propping-up slave labor in China. So I dunno... maybe it's time for more of those people to finally rise up and demand an end to the taking advantage of their labors. Can't say I'm an advocate for violence or extremism, but molotov cocktails do have a way of persuading certain individuals who otherwise I somehow doubt could have been persuaded to be fairer with their employees. Have to admit, this post got me thinking more about that topic, and finding a peaceful resolution in which everyone would benefit is no small task.

Monterey Park Shooting is the 33rd Mass Shooting of 2023 | Time
SpikeTalon comments on Jan 24, 2023:
Nope, and your post debunks itself as you refuse to go by the Government standard in measuring mass murder incidents. In reality, so far in 2023 there have been six mass shooting incidents that have left thirty-eight dead. In contrast, so far this year hundreds have been killed in drunk driving incidents that involved an intoxicated driver, and it is estimated that on a daily basis roughly thirty people die in such accidents every day. Of course, alcohol or drugs are no more the problem where intoxicated driving accidents are concerned than guns are in shootings, and the problem lies in irresponsible human beings making poor choices. A car in the wrong hands can be just as deadly a weapon as a gun can be. Here's the source being referred to, and if one were to go by the Congressional Research Service's metrics, who by the way is a branch of Congress and is truly independent where biases are concerned, one would see my figures add up.-https://infogalactic.com/info/List_of_mass_shootings_in_the_United_States_in_2023 And no, the Government hasn't modified the mass murder metric because the truth is scary to them as you put it, it was modified as it was because four deaths is a fair number to declare it a mass murder/shooting event, judging by the actual number of casualties there were. Also, due to gross exaggerations in the real number of mass shooting incidents by groups like the GunViolenceArchive who have personal agendas, the Government modifies the number of such incidents accordingly to adjust for suicides/organized crime/and gang related violence all of which do NOT constitute random mass shootings, and the data you supplied above did not account for any of that. Besides, whose business is it anyways who takes their own life via a gun? I thought progressive types were in favor of suicide whether it be by oneself or assisted? Do we keep track of suicides by pills or hangings etc? Then why do we track every suicide by gun then? That right there is skewed reporting, and you people want to turn to Government to guide everything else but throw Government metrics to the wolves when they don't align with your own agenda. Simply put, mass shooting incidents are not as commonplace as we are led to believe they are, and the Government knows that and adjusts their data fairly to consider all factors, and I'd trust them over some special interest group any day. So the Government uses the metrics they do regarding mass shooting incidents to properly account for suicides and gang related violence because neither of them are just some random incidents. You know what else is ridiculously American? Gross exaggerations meant to stir up propaganda, along with personal agendas. No one hates quite like Americans do when said Americans have bias or a personal ...

Trump Looks to Abandon Truth Social, His Own Social Media Platform – Rolling Stone
SpikeTalon comments on Jan 23, 2023:
I reckon not alot of truth was being spread around as the site name would have had us believe, lol. Oh well, back to the drawing board. That aside, in Trump's defense on one thing, he ran some good casinos in Atlantic City NJ, and certain policies in that city at the time were hurting the casinos and Trump realized that from early on and bailed out when the first opportunity presented itself. In particular, one city law that hurt the casinos there was a total ban on smoking inside the casinos, which was a policy by then Democratic Governor Jon Corzine, and a truly bad policy it was. Gradually in the years afterwards the casinos struggled to keep customers who went there to enjoy themselves, which means alot of them wanted to smoke while gambling. I went to Atlantic City summer after summer for nearly twenty years at the time, and experimented with most of the casinos down there, and found the one's Trump owned to be some of the best ones where accomodations and comp rewards are concerned. The comp gifts and food at their restaurants I used to get was astounding, gifts that were valued at well over $100, so his casino rewards system was generous compared to the competition. The failure there was not how he ran his casinos, but rather certain city policies that had hurt all of the casinos in the long run. I heard the city had finally let up a bit on the smoking policy, and not surprisingly business started to pick up again. Knowing how other AC casinos had also shut down around the same time as Trump's would indicate that was no mere coincidence.

A privately owned business should always reserve the right to decide to ask a patron to leave regardless of the personal reason. That said, I do not see how such examples could be considered anything positive for society as a whole or foster any sense of good will towards those who have differing point of views. And I'm sure that cafe owner(s) would consider themselves loving and tolerant individuals, but their actions would say a different story. I just don't see how such actions are in any way helping to bridge the political/social divide, and all it seemed to produce was anger and resentment and by extension hate mail & messages. That too I disagree with, as there's a reasonable and rational solution to such situations rather than resorting to hate mail, which is an equally self-defeating act. Nowadays each political side feels compelled to one up the other whenever the opportunity presents itself, small wonder why so many are walking around angry and depressed, what anything good is there to look forward to? As George Carlin used to say, there's no shortage of enthusiasm for criticism but not enough criticism for such enthusiasm.

Physical Attraction
SpikeTalon comments on Jan 14, 2023:
Oh yeah, sure have, and as someone who doesn't exactly fit in with either political extreme at times it can be difficult finding a woman who aligns with my world views. Too conservative for the progressive types who despise guns and the economic policies I'd be inclined to support, and far too liberal for the socially conservative women being that I fully support abortion rights and sex work etc. And as the same with your experiences, the sex was truly gratifying, but the relationships just weren't meant to last in the long run.

Why on earth, would ANYONE in law enforcement, not want an assault weapon ban?
SpikeTalon comments on Jan 13, 2023:
You said "Why on earth, would ANYONE in law enforcement, not want an assault weapon ban?" Because the intelligent ones know full well that for one bans don't work and often times encourage new black markets, and two they have more important things to do than waste time and resources and taxpayer dollars on tracking every single private citizen who owns/wants to own larger capacity gun magazines. The mentally disturbed and violent-prone gangs are the bigger problem, and apparently those Sheriffs are concerned about the real criminals/criminal deeds. LEOs actually doing their jobs when given questionable orders, like they are sworn to do, that's a refreshing change. And the Governor throws a temper tantrum when the junk goon squad won't follow his orders, that poor baby. You're partly right by the way on that not being about defending constitutional rights... an issue like that goes way beyond being one of just individual rights, it's about what I previously mentioned above. That said though, what specific proof do you have that those Sheriffs from the state of Illinois are indeed guilty of violating someone's Fourth Amendment rights and or violated in any way peaceful protesters? Think you meant to say there that some police officers across the country are guilty of that, not all of them, and there's no indicator the Sheriffs in question violated anyone's rights. Saying that would be accurate. Talking about police here, please note my restraint on talking about how many folks in the gun control movement are fully in favor of banning all privately owned firearms so that only those corrupt police officers would have the weapons, which if the statement about police being that corrupt is true such an idea would be way beyond absurd. That, and the big problem with police nowadays stems from the fact these police forces have become an unstoppable monster largely due in part to their unions, which is a direct product of... wait for it... progressive ideas, as the Republicans are generally not in favor of any sort of collective bargaining. Police are only as corrupt as the unions who represent them are. You said above, "There is only ONE reason: they want to kill people. And they claim, there's no "imminent threat" greater than guns on the streets. This is sickening." That one you're not entirely wrong about, and that problem keeps getting worse... which is precisely why some of us will politely hang on to our "assault weapons" and "high capacity" magazines so long as crooked police officers possess militarized equipment. If by chance you don't share in that sentiment, more power to you I say, and good luck on that. Luck is what you'll need at that point if the sad day ever comes when the anti-abortion crowd totally gets their way and somehow manages to...

Search for Texas vigilante who fatally shot robbery suspect carrying fake gun | Texas | The Guardian
SpikeTalon comments on Jan 9, 2023:
Some of us are tired of jackasses wearing ski masks and using either real or fake guns to rob other unsuspecting people, that's the real problem, and if you play stupid games you win stupid prizes. These days you never know who is using a real gun or a fake one, and the police sure aren't around to help in situations like that, and worse still some police react as the ones in Uvalde did. As someone who owns both real and replica firearms, I can tell you from direct experience that from a distance it's not easy to tell if it's a real or plastic gun, and if you don't act quick you could end up dead real fast. Some people aren't waiting around to become the next victims, and there's a clear difference between going around acting like a vigilante looking for trouble and someone who otherwise was minding their own business and suddenly found themselves faced with an aggressor waving around what looked like a real gun. As for him yelling obscenities at the thug after shooting him, can't say I'd blame him, that shows he was human and probably upset that he was put in a position that forced him to use lethal actions against another who turned out used a fake gun. I'd be upset too, and it's worth pointing out that Police are not looking to press charges against the armed customer. As for the amount of force used... maybe it was excessive, but it's a relatively moot point in my opinion because the whole thing never would have happened in the first place had the robber not acted stupid threatening innocent people. We have a problem with stupid people and criminals, not guns. Remove the two former ones from the equation, and the latter one would be used way less often.
Politics is just coffee table fodder.
