SpikeTalon comments on Jan 25, 2019:
In regards to what specifically?
SpikeTalon replies on Jan 27, 2019:
@MikeFlora I know that argument they try to make, and its been debunked many times over. All that implies is that a militia is necessary, please read the second part of the 2A as it debunks that claim weapons were only for militia members. For years now I've been fighting for my rights and shall continue to do so, and have thought about starting my own local militia, but time hasn't been on my side. I don't agree with you on the abortions part, and so far Kavanaugh has been friendly towards reproductive rights. You do know recently the state of NY passed legislation protecting a woman's right to an abortion right up to the end until birth actually takes place, that sounds like abortion rights are still intact, more fearmongering from the left on that much. By the way, given how much time you have spent in this group, thought you would have realized by now most of us in this group are pro choice when it comes to a woman's reproductive choices, and there shouldn't be much surprise there as I've long maintained secular conservatives have differences from religious ones. Correct on the last part, the citizens do need to engage in politics more, most of those who are supposedly fighting for our rights have long become corrupt, they are mostly in it for themselves.
Here's a chilling thought for you depending on what side you're on.
SpikeTalon comments on Jan 26, 2019:
This is why conservatives want smaller government. Not surprised to hear such really...
SpikeTalon replies on Jan 27, 2019:
@MikeFlora Less regulations would be because of smaller government, as once government would be smaller is size there wouldn't be as much time to dedicate to thinking up more legislation. So thus I am indeed for smaller government. Republicans aren't the only ones who screw people, Democrats do as well, and right now as I'm typing this response to you the Democrats out there in positions of power are dreaming up new ways to tax the citizens and minimize individual rights. How much do you know about Libertarianism, and please be honest in your answer? We don't need government to regulate things, the citizens are more than capable of coming together to deal with such situations or any other threats. Additionally, some of us are against excess regulation as it is far too easy for someone to ignore such if they so choose, we refer to people like that as criminals. You know, people who disregard laws and legislation. Regarding Trump, there's probably more to that than what you mentioned above, and keep in mind there are and have been workers who manipulate the system in which to collect benefits. At my first job I could think of at least four guys who gamed the system by pretending to be seriously injured once they had an accident on the job, and they were far from being seriously injured. You think that's a wonderful thing? Workers gaming the system like that, and then complain about Trump wanting to do something about it? You never hear that side of the story though, because well the Democrats don't want people to think that much on issues like that. Bottom line, doesn't matter what legislation/regulations you pass, there will always be someone who finds a way around things or totally disregard the laws. We're going in circles here again...

Precisely how I feel whenever someone says capitalism is the root of all ills in society... I think that's pretty funny. Truth be told, in a world with well over seven billion human beings, I truly don't believe we are ever going to come up with a political system that everyone could agree on. Personally, I care not what others do and what politics they subscribe to just so long as they don't force themselves upon me.

You do such a fine job of that considering you don't get paid to do so. Then again, suppose I shouldn't be too surprised at that, most of those on the left don't mind doing stuff for free all for the sake of what's best for the community. Conservatives aren't the villain you think they are, I'd be more concerned about those on the left who are constantly trying to undermine individual liberties.

SpikeTalon replies on Jan 24, 2019:
I disagee, states like CA and NJ have some of the strictest gun control regulations and that hasn't stopped criminals yet. The NRA hasn't always been right either. Criminals don't follow the laws, regulating ammo is pointless knowing such. Getting to the reason as to why there is so much gun related violence is the key there, and once that is achieved we could take things from there.

@Arouet I wasn't talking about those things you named, and the original topic for this post wasn't on any of those either. No, I'm not okay with them either, everyone of those have flaws, and ignoring such does no good. Since you claim we don't know either way as to how useful background checks are, I'd say then you aren't qualified either to suggest opposite of what I claimed, that works both ways there. My point was that background checks do not stop criminals when it comes to acquiring firearms, anything else you mentioned strayed off topic. To answer your last question, yes, they are pointless as well. I'll use the driver's license as an example. What makes you think just because I pass a test that in the future I wouldn't break any traffic laws? Again I say, background checks when it comes to firearms would not stop someone with ill intent, as it's far too easy to dupe such checks.

You just contradicted yourself. If they fail even some of the times, they are not reliable then. All criminals at one point had clean records until they committed the first offense. For example, there is nothing stopping me from applying for a certain job and then once hired I could break the law, I wouldn't do such of course just an example there. Criminals do not obey the laws, and it's all too easy to get around background checks.

You don't want a wall, I do, so that's a moot point. I think there are more people for building the wall than what the medias would have us believe, polls are known to be skewed. SpikeTalon replies on Jan 23, 2019:
@GuyKeith Please rationally explain how that's a "fun" fact? Nothing really fun about having/wanting to block someone. Anyway, I'm replying to your comment here as I know you had commented on one of my posts to test to see if everyone could see each other in this group now, and I wouldn't want you to think I was ignoring you. Upon backtracking a bit in this group to read comments on some posts, I didn't realize that so many folks got offended over someone else blocking them. Last I checked I'm now banned from seventeen groups, and knowing such doesn't bother me in the least, and in fact I find such to be mildly amusing. Personally, I don't block or ban someone due to being offended, I block mostly due to being disinterested in the topics some folks tend to drone on endlessly about, using the block function as a filter so to speak. My monthly smartphone data plan has limited data, and this app tends to consume considerable data, so when I block someone whose posts I'm not interested in that saves my data. Do know that aside from one individual on here who I take exception to, I've never had any complaint or grudge with someone I blocked or banned on here. With that said, apparently most of those who were upset over me banning them from the conservative and pro gun rights groups are not aware of the fact that I host a third group which is also for conservatives, and at present time no one is banned from that group. I take it you know Mike Flora, the host of the gun control group, right? Well, he's a member of my gun group (and now also the conservative group), and awhile back I had said it was okay if he wanted to ask two or so members from his group who were interested in debating to come join my group, but he hasn't been online much lately and so that never happened. I'd be willing to let a few opposing viewpoints in the third group I had mentioned, and if I had anyone blocked I'd consider unblocking if they join said group with the intent to debate politely. I'm not as unreasonable as some of the gossip crowd on here would have you believe. By the way, word travels rather fast on this site and alot of members know who hangs with who on here, so by all means do share this with your buddies Pralina and Maturin1919. The third group I host is not hard to find in the search. I've said my piece, now the rest is up to you to decide on.
