I like the one about a loving sky daddy who gave his only son to purge mankind of their sins, born of a virgin and returning soon to destroy the sinners that he purged of their sin in the first trip. The one about JFK and the magic bullet just pales in comparison. :D
I honestly never thought of those (seemingly) stupid codes and rules that way.
Surfpirate comments on Jan 20, 2019:
Money and power have always had the unusual effect of making some people feel that they are more human than other people and this quickly turns into the perception that those other people are less human than wealthy and powerful people. It doesn't take long before the rich and powerful are trying to treat the poor and weak as less valuable to them than livestock and we all know where livestock winds up, in the slaughterhouse.

Do we really need to forgive others to get resolution or can we simply let them go and move on?
Surfpirate comments on Jan 19, 2019:
I was just discussing this with a friend and while we are in agreement that forgive and move on is the best approach there are some people that just won't allow that to happen, I think the clinical term is psychopath. For those individuals the only sure approach to closure is to shoot them in the head with a silver bullet, drive an oaken stake through the heart, burn the body and then sprinkle the ashes over running water, all the while hopping up and down on one foot, patting your head and rubbing your stomach in a counterclockwise motion. I'm told it really works. ;)

Just a little spot tucked away in the Andes in Ecuador.
Surfpirate comments on Jan 18, 2019:
I lived in Ecuador for more than a year and it is such a beautiful country with so much to see. If you can to Mindo that has some beautiful hummingbirds and butterflies. That cabina looks like it might be near Banos and if so then you will want to take a soak in the hot springs there. The Galapagos are a trip in themselves and fairly expensive but sometimes you can get some good deals. The people are friendly but you do have to watch out for petty thievery because it is tempting fate to leave you IPhone sitting exposed when the average income is so low, take basic precautions and you will be fine.

Stories From The E.
Surfpirate comments on Jan 17, 2019:
I recall reading about a tool and die man who enjoyed sticking his member in a hole in the mounting base for his machine but on this occasion he became stuck in the orifice and was unable to become flacid enough to remove himself. The appearance of his shift boss and then the rest of the crew only caused further arousal and it took EMS and some lubricant to get him extricated from his equipment.
Perhaps the most depressing photo I've ever seen.

I had a business partner when I lived in Bermuda and his family went back to the original settlers on that island. His recollection from family lore was that the black slaves had it better than the white slaves because you could only own the white slaves for 7 years but black slaves were property for life. You took better care of the black slaves because they were an investment but the white slaves were like a lease, no point in investing money in a lease because in the end you wouldn't own it. Many white 'indentured' servants didn't survive the last year of their servitude because they would often starve to death or die of exposure, food and proper clothing being deemed a bad investment in the final year of the lease.

I'm reminded of a finish carpenter named Randall MacFadden who did beautiful work, slow, methodical and beautiful - clients requested Randall by name. One day the boss showed up on the job in a bad mood and started to tell Randall how to do things faster, how he needed to get the lead out and speed things up. Randall actually produced an impressive amount of work and more importantly there were never any call backs because I never saw him make a mistake, not once. Anyway, after about a half hour of the boss stomping around the job site, Randall started to pack up his tools. The boss started yelling, what the hell did he think he was doing, it was only 3 in the afternoon but Randall didn't say a word, just packed everything into his truck and drove away. The client came to the site a little after that and asked where Randall was and the boss had to tell him that he had just drove off and it didn't look like he was coming back, the client explained that Randall better be back the next day or the job was off. The boss started to call Randall at home but no answer, this was before cell phones were common and he called a dozen times but no answer so he had to drive out to Randall's house in the country. The way I heard it Randall told the boss that he liked the quality of work he did for the company but if he had to put up with any further direction then he would not be coming back to work again for the company, ever. The boss said Okay and that was the end of that, the boss never gave instruction on how to do things to Randall again.
What bothers you most about your political position?
Surfpirate comments on Jan 12, 2019:
My political position is Lefty Libertarian and by that I mean that we should have government involved in less of our lives and yet at the same time provide the basic social safety net that is the mark of a civilized society. What bothers me is that we need to minimize corruption and maximize common sense in order for this to work so it is an uphill battle.

This for my weed smokers. Tell me a funny story on when you got high.
Surfpirate comments on Jan 11, 2019:
I haven't gotten high in decades but in my younger years I smoked a lot of weed before suddenly going cold turkey. I recall in senior year at high school cutting class with a bunch of my friends for an afternoon party at my house. It was also a friend's birthday and somebody brought a birthday cake which got stuck to the ceiling of the kitchen when someone decided to toss it in the air. The party was getting out of hand so I made a big pot of spaghetti and dumped a bag of weed into the sauce, since everyone had the munchies I poured half the sauce over the spaghetti and served it up. In next to no time everyone had a serious body stone which toned down the party in a hurry. Somehow I managed to get the place cleaned up with the help of my girlfriend before my mom got home from work and then I passed out on the couch. I woke up a couple of hours later to laughter coming from the kitchen, still very high I stumbled out to the kitchen and saw my mom and sister at the kitchen table just laughing their asses off, two empty plates of spaghetti sitting on the table in front of them. After an hour they staggered off to bed, none the wiser and I didn't tell them what had happened until a decade later. We sold that house a few years later, the stain from the icing on the birthday cake was still on the ceiling and nobody ever wondered how it got there.

The truly galling part are the Atheists who are constant apologists for this behavior, they insist that Atheists turn the other cheek, relegate these actions to a distant past that will never rear its ugly head again. The truth is that the motivation for these evil acts is lurking just below the surface in the religious community and all they need is an opportunity to bring back the dark ages for it to happen again. Not alarmism just the facts as proven throughtout history and right up to today.

I went to get a cheeseburger for my wife and she wanted a bunch of healthy toppings that the clerk was struggling to provide and when it came time for me to pay for her meal the currency was completely foreign to me. How many of you believe that Earth is the only planet that have life ?
Surfpirate comments on Jan 8, 2019:
I think the chances of Earth being the sole oasis of life in the universe are about as likely as there being a creator god who after bringing the universe into existence out of nothingness, decided that he would create Mankind in his image on a rather dreary M class planet orbiting the not very special star on the spiral arm of an average galaxy chosen at random from billions of other galaxies in an infinite universe. The universe is vast and may be only one of a billion other universes in the multiverse so the chances of us being 'alone' are small but the chances of other civilizations near enough to us at this present time is also extremely low. We only developed radio communication in the last century which is a tiny fraction of the history of our species, let alone other species that may have developed similar communication abilities that extend outside of our planetary home.

Surfpirate comments on Jan 7, 2019:
I knew a guy in university who we called Peter the Pig, I can't remember his last name but Peter appeared to be average in every way, except he knew how to talk to women and take them home. It was a nonstop parade of women with Peter, usually very beautiful women, except on Tuesdays because Peter reserved Tuesdays for ugly women because he said even ugly women should have a good time. This was not an arrogant thing, Peter was a kind hearted person, a genuinely nice guy and he just thought that it was fair. I never learned just what he used for a pick up line but somehow I don't think he used a line, nobody ever heard him use a pick up line, he just talked to women, made them laugh and treated them with respect and they wanted to go home with him.

I'm reminded of the newlywed who got the name of his wife tattooed on his dick at his stag party 'SUSAN'. He is on the honeymoon in Jamaica and his member is still sore from the tattoo so he goes to the hotel washroom and gingerly pulls it out at the urinal to have a leak. The hotel manager comes in and uses the urinal beside him and as they are having a leak beside each other the newlywed notices a tattoo on the dick of the hotel manager and it reads 'WELCA' and he remarks to the hotel manager that he also had tattooed his wife's name on his member. The manager looks at him odd and responds 'Wha you mean, Mon?'. So the newlywed proudly pulls on his prick and shows the tattoo SUSAN to the hotel manager and says 'my wife's name is Susan and I guess your wife's name is Welca'. The hotel manager pulls on his prick and it is now full length so the newlywed can read the full tattoo 'WELCOME TO JAMAICA' and says 'I no married, Mon'.

Surfpirate comments on Jan 6, 2019:
As an aside, in Canada the Federal Income Tax was brought in during the Great War to End All Wars as a temporary war effort but government being what it is couldn't give up that income source once the First World War ended. Since 1919 we have been embroiled in almost constant war, either directly or as part of NATO and income tax has only grown and become more entrenched with more of the burden being shifted from the elites to the middle class.

That's what it is like when you are no longer religious but you still have religious people in your life, so rather than describe this as a higher consciousness, why not just accept it as being conscious of reality instead of living in a fantasy world?

Statistics would indicate that slightly more than half the population have one and that can be a beautiful thing but personal observation would lead me to believe that practically all of us can be one from time to time and quite a few are habitual offenders.
Here’s my garden. I tarp some of the beds. The garden is usually covered in snow.

I ike the added insulation of the tarps. My garden is windy but I am planning some portable high tunnels that may do the trick.
