A cornerstone of the right wing politician who just got elected Premier in my province was reintroducing $1 beer. BUCK A BEER was his campaign slogan, apparently there is a large enough segment of the citizenry who are willing to drink cheap swill to get a jerk elected to public office.

A couple of breweries put out a limited run of beer piss as a campaign support ploy but that was it, dumb and dumber.

I lived in Ecuador for more than a year, 3 months of it in Cuenca and when they say the land of eternal spring they mean early spring, with a lot of rain even for a guy who lived for 4 years on Vancouver Island. Vilcabamba at the lower elevation of 4500 ASL was more comfortable but in any case I would suggest you learn at least basic Spanish before attempting Ecuador where not many people speak English. Beautiful country and you can have everything from beautiful beaches to soaring mountains to jungles as your home, all within a days drive.

A root canal may be required within the year, we would need to book that in advance if we were to do it in Mexico as it takes a couple of days.

It can be if you want to relax but there is lots to do as well. We will head into El Centro on the bus (10 pesos) and stroll the Malecon before meeting up with old friends from our time living in Ecuador who have since moved to Puerto Vallarta. Low key but fun.

We sat beside two devote Catholics on the trip down to Mexico yesterday. Praying and crossing themselves before take off, working those rosary beads hard and reading from their pocket book scriptures during the flight before repeating the routine before landing. Not friendly people and more than half a bubble off plumb in the social department, they are coming to be part time missionaries and hopefully the cartels get them.

@Dragonfly1965 So if you were just dozing off you wouldn't have been in REM yet so it probably wasn't a dream but more of an altered state with dreamlike qualities. I've experienced some very strange things in my life and most of it I can't explain but it doesn't mean it didn't happen just that I haven't found a suitable explanation for it. I would definitely monitor this and jot down some notes so you can remember and cross reference the information should it happen again.

I've had dreams that seem to portend future events but that can just be a case of fitting the dream to the reality but I do think our subconscious manifests itself in our dreams which is a psychological phenomena.

Roy was missing in action for 2 weeks, first he was bounced around to several police stations, then shipped out to the desert at an outdoor prison before finally being released on the side of the highway in the middle of the night when his company refused to give up on him. He hitchhiked back to his hotel and got the hell out of there.

You can save the oil if you freeze it and use it to do the other half at Xmas. Do this outside, with a special turkey fryer that you can buy at Harbor Freight or even Walmart. Keep the lid handy and do not walk away while cooking, things can south very quickly if you do not pay attention but it really is a safe and fast way to cook a turkey.

I cleared the fence below me but my kneecap was shifted to side of my leg, the hospital was just around the corner so they shifted it back, did that ever hurt but the scarring gives me trouble in spite of yoga and tai chi. I sustained a spinal cord injury a few years ago as well which left my leg numb but I am on new meds that have really helped. What a drag it is getting old, dying young and leaving a good looking corpse is just a faded memory. lol

There is an alternative way to live through it, it's my wife's birthday on the weekend and we are flying off to Mexico for a week for a quickie getaway at a bargain basement price because it's the shoulder season. We will hang out with some friends from our days in Ecuador and then come back to face winter's wrath, albeit a winter shortened by a week. I expect we will do it again in late March or early April and take the edge off of the tail end of winter, anything that shortens the season of winter is a good thing.

@StarvingArtist We've found that must be brutal and uncompromising about minimizing, otherwise it doesn't amount to anything more than make a bit of space for some new stuff we won't really need either. I'm not as good at as my wife is but she helps to keep me from getting too much stuff again.
