Hi everyone. Ive been an atheist, anti theist, free thinker, humanist... for at least 20 years. I didn't come to the "dark" side over night. I was raised catholic by a Catholic father and fundamentalist mother. What a wreck I was. Years of religious study brought me to atheism. I watched my mother most of her life struggle as Job to understand why her god had forsaken her and could only find fault in herself. Now I watch an aging father read catholic dogma non stop and is frightened that no one will say prayers for him while he is in pergatory so he can ascend into heaven. Neither of these really important people in my life have lived or did live because of their religiosity. I struggled my first 30 years much as the did. I find the human condition challenge enough without adding fairytale s into the mix.
