They Are Trying To Silence AOC, Because Money Never Sleeps
TomMcGiverin comments on Nov 8, 2020:
The establishment corporate Dems are actually a bigger roadblock to progressive candidates and policy than the Repubs, and anyone left of center who doesn't hate them as much or more than the Repubs (in my case, the latter), is seriously deluded. These ratfuckers and the Repubs are both our enemies, both politically and in the class war. Too many progressives fail to realize that these selfish liberals and centrists who vote for corporate Dems are class enemies of the working class, but rest assured, working class whites are not similarly deluded. They know damn well the people who support corporate Dems are their class enemies, so they strike back the only way they can, by voting against the corporate Dems and their identity politics fused with multiculturalism. They vote red out of spite and I don't blame them. If I can't vote for something positive for me, and I can vote against the cultural program of my class enemy's party, I will at least seek my revenge that way. That is the thinking of working class whites and as long as the Dem party offers them nothing helpful economically, they will continue to vote Red out of spite for the comfortable suburban liberals and centrists in the party.

Interesting essay of thoughts of a black american after Biden win.
TomMcGiverin comments on Nov 8, 2020:
The sad fact is that a majority of white Americans still support Trump and his racism. Biden won only because he had overwhelming turnout of black and Hispanic voters, who overwhelmingly voted for him. Without both of these trends, we would still have Trump, which is quite sobering, tho it doesn't surprise me at all. Most of white America is still just as racist as in the sixties. The difference now is that after all those years of PC becoming a dominant cultural feature, Trump's presidency made it acceptable and proud again to be openly racist. I hope that after January most of these people will crawl back under their rocks, but make no mistake, they aren't going away and in four years another racist Repub worse than Trump will be their prez nominee, bringing back out the racist Trumpers in full view again.

Anyone tracking how progressives did in the down ballot? We need to start building the agenda.
TomMcGiverin comments on Nov 8, 2020:
In my state, the Repubs are still running all three branches of the capitol, even got more redder. It's sad that the statewide newspaper doesn't even report the results anymore for third party candidates in Iowa elections for federal offices, not even prez. Got to silence those protest votes by sending them down the rabbit hole, like they never existed. The fact that Dems did badly across the nation while Biden won says clearly that most Americans do not like or trust the Dems any more than the Repubs, actually less than the Repubs. It means the only reason Biden won is that a very slim majority of Americans were sick of Trump and wanted someone different. Biden functioned as the default "None Of The Above", which would have won in a landslide if it had been on the ballot for prez.
No explanation necessary:

Joe Biden is now President Elect.
TomMcGiverin comments on Nov 8, 2020:
The fact that Biden barely won over probably the worst prez in recent memory, only because a slim majority of Americans who bothered to vote were so sick of Trump, tells you all you need to know about both how little credibility the Dem Part has with most Americans, one third of whom who could vote but stayed home this time, as well as how corrupt the DNC is to put stopping Bernie ahead of winning in a landslide. This reality of Dem corruption and how much the party is despised and distrusted by the working class is not going to improve in four years, no matter what lying, corrupt neoliberal corporatist the DNC chooses in four years. You can book the 2024 loss already, even tho it's already locked in that progressives will be blamed.
I agree with his analysis. What do you think? [youtube.com]
TomMcGiverin comments on Nov 8, 2020:
No way Trump should be pardoned. Would be a terrible precedent, even tho it's been done before. He should have been impeached, but since the Repubs are too shameless and corrupt for that to have happened, Trump needs to be held accountable for his crimes outside of the political system and that means criminal charges, a trial, and hopefully convictions without interference from the DOJ or politicians.
What Biden’s win changes for Americans, China, and the environment
TomMcGiverin comments on Nov 8, 2020:
Whoever wrote that article is pretty gullible about Biden. Out of all the issues in the list, I would say the only ones Biden will push for change on is Covid response, improving foreign relations, and engaging more constructively with China. He also might push for a public option being added to Obamacare, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that. In fact, if the ACA is tossed by the SC, I don't know if he will even push all the way to restore it. He gets way too much campaign money from the healthcare industry. Somebody seems to believe way more than me that pols like Biden mean everything they say during campaigns.
It was obvious the fix was in. That POS knew it too.
TomMcGiverin comments on Nov 8, 2020:
I knew it in my bones. Clyburn is such a lying, corrupt POS. Him and all the other corrupt black leaders that backed Biden over Bernie. Shows how little they actually care about the welfare of their race, since Bernie planned to do way more for blacks economically, educationally, and employment-wise than Biden ever thought about doing. Yet, when Clyburn and other black leaders endorsed Biden over Bernie, the corporate media then jumped on Bernie and accused him of being racist and that he "had a problem with blacks" because he couldn't get endorsements from any of their leaders except Jesse Jackson. They even bashed Bernie for not seeking an endorsement from Clyburn, even tho Bernie obviously knew Clyburn was a lost cause that would screw him over, but I watched how Bernie would not take the bait in the interview and bash Clyburn. More class and restraint than I would have had, which is why I don't run for office. Bernie graciously said he didn't think Clyburn would be open to endorsing him and left it at that. Between the timing of when Covid hit, the collusion of Obama and the DNC to have all the other primary candidates drop out and endorse Biden over Bernie, having the black leaders endorse Biden, all of this right before Super Tuesday, was certain to stop Bernie, who I still think would have won in a landslide over Trump if he had been nominated as the Dem. Of course, Warren stayed in until right after Super Tuesday to make sure she took away plenty of Bernie's potential support, then dropped out. Next time we need a progressive candidate with big name recognition to run as a third party candidate and if necessary burn down the Dem Party. We've fucking waited over 50 years by then for our turn with the Dems, That's long enough and they deserve to lose and burn.
Let's hope this is the end of it!
TomMcGiverin comments on Nov 7, 2020:
Not the end of it by any means, just a four year break until the next cycle. By then the Dems will have betrayed the working class whites again with Biden and then Harris finishing his term, so those voters will ping pong back to give the Repubs a narrow win in 2024 even when the Repubs nominate someone worse than Trump. But those voters will be so desperate they will believe the lies of the Repub candidate of claiming they will help the working class, same as Trump did. Meanwhile the Dems will probably nominate Harris and she will have no credibility with those voters as she and Biden will pull the usual corporate Dem playbook of not even trying to do much for the working class while blaming it all on the Repubs, even if the Dems control the House and the Senate. As always, the rich donors and corporate donors will be served and win while the common people lose.

TomMcGiverin comments on Nov 7, 2020:
Bah, bah, bleat the stupid sheeple who think Biden will be some great improvement on Trump by fighting class warfare on their behalf, reducing deportations, fighting climate change, eliminating student debt, raising the minimum wage, adding paid sick leave, passing Med4ALL, etc. As John Lennon sang, "And you think you're so clever, and classeless and free, But you're all fucking peasants as far as I can see". So today they celebrate and enjoy the illusion that Biden will even try to make things that greatly better than they are now. That might be true for response to Covid and not opposing BLM, but if you think he wants to make anything better than they were under Obama, you are deluded..... Identity politics is such bullshit and the nutritional equivalent of eating only empty calories, fills you up and leaves you malnourished. I don't think I'm alone in thinking that it doesn't matter if the candidate is a trisexual, green-skinned Buddist Martian-human hybrid. What matters is what policies they support, whether they have integrity over constantly selling out or always compromising before they even begin to fight for a policy, and, finally, if their record matches what they say they will do if elected. Anyone who bases their vote instead of on these things and votes on the candidate's identity is a fool and a rube that the major parties will continue to play like a piano. My prediction in four years is that if the Dem leaders don't think they can push her to the finish line like they did Biden for a squeaker win, they will nominate a gay Hispanic male, so they can then play all the remaining identity politics cards that are remaining. We almost already saw that with Mayor Pete, so you can't say I'm overly cynical to predict this.

TomMcGiverin comments on Nov 7, 2020:
Relieved that Trump is going, but sad that liberals will undoubtedly repeat their behavior during the Obama years of going to sleep about America's wars in the Middle East, accepting talk over action on climate change, and not caring about the class war of the 1% against the rest of us. Biden and the liberals in the Dem camp will support a better response to Covid and more Covid relief, as well as the BLM movement, but that will be it. Anything outside of their own self interest, like not getting sick or hurt by Covid, or the rights of colored people to not be murdered by police, neither of are against their own personal comfort or wealth, will be supported by Biden or his supporters. So the economic inequality will continue unabated. No M4all, no student debt relief, no paid sick leave, no reduction of corporate rule. I am disgusted that in four years the white working class will again feel angry, frustrated, and betrayed enough by Biden/Harris that they will elect a Repub even worse than Trump out of desperation to try something other than the usual neoliberal corporatist Dem lies. And, of course, after that happens, the DNC and establishment Dems will blame progressives and the left for their defeat, unless by then they can still get anyone to believe it was also the Russians...
‘Sleepy Joe’s’ Task Is to Put Liberal America Back to Sleep [consortiumnews.
TomMcGiverin comments on Nov 7, 2020:
I'll be shocked if the BLM movement doesn't go to sleep, along with the liberals, under a Biden presidency. I remember how Obama crushed the Occupy movement very quietly and stealthily, while increasing the drone killings, selling us out on healthcare reform, and helping Wall Street steal more from us and make the rich richer while everyone else got poorer. The liberals also have ignored the treatment of Assange and will do even more so under Biden. Our troops will remain in Iraq and Afghanistan. Biden will talk about stopping climate change, but not do anything about it. He also won't do anything about student debt or increasing the min. wage, or paid sick leave. And then in four years, the working class whites will again feel angered and betrayed enough to vote for any Repub prez candidate rather than Harris or whatever neoliberal corporatist the Dems nominate. And next time the Repub candidate will be even worse than Trump, but they will still win. Only a viable third party that threatens the Dems will ever change this.

Exactly, presidential politics has turned into pro wrestling. No wonder Jesse Ventura ran and won in MInnesota. They should just go all in and have the election coverag,e done by the WWF announcers wearing tuxes. I wised up before I even could vote, but all my awareness does is make me angry and depressed every four years. I have never been given a major party candidate to choose for prez that wasn't some form of evil. I am just barely young enough to have missed out on being able to vote for McGovern in 1972, the last time the Dem Party nominated a progressive. Unfortunately, he was running against the evil, masterful liar Tricky Dick Nixon, an even better liar than Obama. Ever since then the Dem Party and the corporate media have kept trotting out that landslide loss as proof positive that a progressive can't win a prez election. How would they know when a major party hasn't tried 50 years and the fear of communism or socialism in the US has undoubtedly grown way less powerful since then, esp. among younger people? But the corporate media and Dem Party have done their best to keep spreading that propaganda anyway. Talk about circular logic...

How much do you expect "payback" to influence Democrat policy?
TomMcGiverin comments on Nov 7, 2020:
The Dems do not do scorched earth "payback", that is a Repub trait. If anything, I fully expect that Biden will pardon Trump on any federal charges, if they are even brought against him, after he leaves office. The reason is because, despite all the rhetoric of the Dems against Trump, they are all part of the same corrupt club, so they will give Trump a pass on any crimes he commited before leaving office. As far as the state charges against Trump in NY, I also expect that Biden and the establishment Dem leaders will call Cuomo and ask a favor of him to drop any state charges against Trump. These cocksuckers all take care of each other once the election is over and the media have moved on. The vast majority of the voters are too dumb and distracted to notice. Of course, Biden, Cuomo, and other Dems will excuse and justify this corruption by parroting Obama's excuse and saying " We have to move forward, etc." or some similar bullshit.
Biden declared projected victory. Congratulations America!!!☀️☀️☀️

TomMcGiverin comments on Nov 6, 2020:
The DNC, the corporate media, and establishment Dem pols keep saying that a progressive candidate for prez can't win, but that's a shit-eating lie and they all know it. The facts are that they were scared shitless of Bernie and knew that if they didn't stop him from the nomination he would have won last time and this time in landslides. They know that Biden only won, barely, because a majority of voters were just sick enough of Trump to tolerate Biden. When they say Bernie couldn't have won, I shoot back " Then maybe we should finally just prove it by allowing a progressive to get the nomination and participate in the debates for the general election". How can any of the centrists know that when the Dems have not had a progressive candidate since McGovern in 1972? I would bet my life on it that if allowed to participate in those debates and wipe the floor with the neoliberal policies of any Repub, the voters would respond and we'd have turnout of 80% or more of eligible voters. But my guess is that if a progressive did get the nomination by some miracle, the corporate media would ignore them as much as possible except for smears and the debate commission, run by the heads of both parties, would collude with the Repub candidate to boycott the debates.

Both of these groups will not stand in the way of the bigots if their group is getting what they want from the Repubs. TomMcGiverin comments on Nov 3, 2020:
I think you left out what looks like the most likely outcome, which is, Biden wins, the Dems hold the House, the Repubs hold the Senate. In my mind, that would be somewhat of an improvement in that Trump would not be able to do more damage. But it would still result in gridlock and not much getting done except maybe better leadership on Covid. Biden would have to do most things by executive order and I doubt he has the balls to do that. At least we would get fewer conservative nutjob judges. Also, the Repubs will do a 180 right after the election if Trump loses and oppose any Dem spending bills, unless it's giveaways to corporations or the rich, as deficits will suddenly matter again to them and they will become budget hawks on any spending Biden wants to do for the peasants or small business.

That experience with her dementia just about broke me and I don't think I could survive having another partner get a long term illness and die again sometime in the next ten years, so I am trying to hedge my bets against that as much as possible. Maybe ten years from now I would be able to handle going thru something like that again, but in the meantime, I don't want to set myself up by choosing someone who is much older than me. Still, the other person's health and family medical history is just as important, if not more so, than their age difference.

With music or politics, most people never change from their origins unless they leave their original environment or get a lot of exposure to new thinking or music thru personal relationships later on in their lives that influence them.
This is sickening, I had no idea that Harrison Arkansas was this bad. [youtu.be]

What do you expect from a region that is mostly made up of inbred, dumb, ignorant hillbillies? Nice to see the abundance of Christian love on display, since I'm sure the vast majority of these assholes attend church regularly. Makes me appreciate Iowa, tho I'm sure if I held up a BLM sign in my town, the response wouldn't be that much better.

I already found the same thing in Andrew Yang's book, The War On Normal People. Looks like about two thirds of Americans will become useless, in the terms of heartless economics, by the next decade or so. After that, we will either have to have a UBI or we will have riots and maybe revolution, most likely violent. He talks about so many things that our corporate media and politicians, with the exception of Yang's prez run, refuse to discuss.

Nothing new here. [rockfans.net] Janis Joplin singing Bobby Mcgee-written by Kris Kristofferson?
TomMcGiverin comments on Oct 20, 2020:
Even tho I have always been big on Joplin, I have always loathed that song and Mercedes Benz, her two worst songs. The latter because it's merely a trite a capella ditty that she composed herself, little that there was to it. The former song because it was not at all like the rest of her songs, which were soul style. It's sad and ironic that Bobby McGee was really a country song, even with her version, and that's probably why it was by far her most popular song, tho to me it's not really a Janis song. I groan and cringe whenever it's sung at karaoke shows, because it's the only song of hers I ever hear sung and it's always sung by people who really aren't fans of hers as they never know any of her other songs when I ask them if they could sing any of the several other, much better songs of hers that are in the karaoke songbook. Slop for the swine, as far I'm concerned, as these people have no appreciation of what made Janis great and the unique artist she was. Most likely Bobby McGee is the only song of hers they've ever heard or like, so to me they are really not fans of hers at all, just mainstream music rubes who have no good taste in music at all. The kind of people who are probably happy listening to about any top 40 mainstream radio station.

I won't be surprised if Trump is let off the hook by Biden and the Dem leaders in congress, the same way Nixon was pardoned and both Cheney and W. were left alone by Obama. Expect the usual BS excuse if Biden wins that, " We have to look forward, etc..." That's why I hate the Dem party, they are never up for revenge the way the Repubs are, and that's why so much of the voters scorn and have no respect for them. Because at least the Repubs are not pussies when it comes to playing hardball and they can always be counted on to be vindictive...

Gov. Whitmer Responds To 'Lock Her Up' Chants At Trump Rally : NPR
TomMcGiverin comments on Oct 18, 2020:
I wonder how Trump will feel if Biden wins and crowds at Biden rallies and BLM protests chart chanting "Lock him up" regarding the criminal charges he has coming for his financial dealings? Probably won't consider that to be "fun"... In fact, being the hypocrite that he is, he will undoubtedly call that behavior treasonous, call the chanters "traitors to America" and urge Barr to have them prosecuted.

TomMcGiverin comments on Oct 18, 2020:
I can only guess about the motives of black people that are members of Christian churches, but it's important to remember that black churches have historically functioned as much or more as institutions of mutual aid and organization for black communities than as religious centers. As far back as in slavery days, the black churches were the one situation where slaves could gather together in the absence of white people and in their church gatherings would often communicate with each other about news of the country, the Civil War, escape from slavery, etc. They would communicate in code much of the time because the slave owners would usually make sure the black preacher they brought in for services was loyal to the slave owners. To this day, many black churches are more about being centers of mutual aid, political organizing, and such than about religion for their communities.
