As coronavirus spreads, the futility of religion becomes obvious | Andrew Seidel
TomMcGiverin comments on Mar 13, 2020:
Maybe God, as in the days of Noah and the flood, is using the pandemic to thin the herd and maybe save the planet from climate change? Just a thought....

@TomParos My point is suggesting a thought for how to see this pandemic for those who do believe in God. Jus' sayin'- chill out man..

What are you doing?!?!?! GO TO THE STORE NOW!!! You need more toilet paper....like at least 25 rolls. Then once you're down to 20 rolls left, that's when you buy 25 more!! That's Hoarding 101. ;)
TomMcGiverin replies on Mar 23, 2020:
The problem is that right now, with all the hoarding, if you wait until you are down to your last several rolls, you may actually run out before you can buy another several rolls. It really is still that bad in the stores. Most people are lucky to ever find any TP even if they make several store trips in a week.

TomMcGiverin comments on Mar 21, 2020:
So is this some rumor or whatever that on Mon. the feds will implement an indefinite national lockdown? What exactly is suspected?
TomMcGiverin replies on Mar 21, 2020:
@William_Mary Here in Iowa, we have had pretty good compliance by both citizens and businesses with the governor's policies of social distancing, so I think they will probably just stick with what is already in place. We have only 68 total cases so far and no deaths at this time. So far, only two cities in the state have 75% of the current cases, so they seem to be keeping it from spreading very widely in the state.

That is why I will confront hoarders myself if I see them doing it in a store. I don't care if the staff is too chickenshit to confront them and limit their buying, I will shame them myself. What are they going to do, hit a stranger that might be infectious?
TomMcGiverin replies on Mar 21, 2020:
@Lilac-Jade I can't blame them, if they are hourly peons who don't get treated well enough to take any risks for the store..

TomMcGiverin replies on Mar 21, 2020:
@Lilac-Jade Stores need to realize that these kind of customers are worth losing, and even if they aren't where else are they gonna go? The stores hold all the power at this time and customers are at their mercy to buy what they need, so pissing off these assholes is really low risk at this time for the stores. Plus, if they spit on staff those customers could be held for the police and charge with assault.

TomMcGiverin replies on Mar 21, 2020:
@Athena That's how bitter the divide is in America where your vote is seen as being so important in the prez race. In my state, which went for Trump by about 15%, my vote might actually matter in the outcome, or this time, it might not. As for them telling me I must not only vote for Biden but also support him, I know damn well that if Bernie was the nominee they would not be willing to support and campaign for him. So it's hypocritical and a double standard.

TomMcGiverin replies on Mar 21, 2020:
@TattedIrishXx The only power we have left would be to get out in the streets like the Europeans with their yellow vests and raise hell, but even then it would take more than that in America and most Americans are not revolutionary-minded like that. Our leaders would just ignore mass protests like they already do when it's against war. In America it would take a mass movement with tens of millions hitting the streets coupled with general strikes and mass non-cooperation with corporate America. Anything less would not be powerful enough and I don't see enough Americans up for that, esp. when most of them are too saddled with debt to take the risk or have the time to get involved.
This is Joe.

The crucial group to affect is those in the top 10%, the comfortable controller/professional class. Man, how I hated Barry The Liar, which is why being stuck with Biden is doubly infuriating when I see how he rides Obama's coattails, which objectively are not that great to begin with. Nader agreed with me immediately after Obama's cabinet was announced and denounced Obama as a con man. Too bad most blacks were too drunk on racial pride to see the truth of that. By 2012, I was voting Green and also did that in 2016 after Bernie got screwed the first time. My state went for Trump by over 10%, so my conscience vote did not matter in the outcome.

@OwlInASack The irony is that blacks, particularly older blacks, were the group that powered Biden to his primary wins on Super Tuesday and last night. The reasons they voted overwhelmingly for him instead of Bernie was their nostalgia for the Obama years, combined with all the endorsements Biden got from corrupt black leaders in their states. Bunch of gullible, tribalistic voters, putting their race ahead of policy and their own interests. What the hell has Biden ever done for blacks in America, esp. working class and poor blacks?

The April debate will also undoubtedly be rigged to protect Biden. It's not just this clip. In South Carolina a week or so ago, Biden said that he was running for the Senate, not the presidency. He also referred to the upcoming primary as Super Thursday, not Super Tuesday. Small things do matter when they make you look out of it. Those of us old enough to remember Reagan and how demented he seemed in the 80s (and it turned out we were right, he had dementia even in his first term) are going to notice this and think twice about electing another demented old person.
