I wore hearing aids from the time I was 6 years old until I was 37 years old during which time I grew up on a farm driving tractors and combines without cabs which made a lot of noise. By the time I was 37 I had very little hearing left and they didn’t make a hearing aid powerful enough so the doctors at Hough Ear Institute decided to do a cochlear implant in my right ear. After the surgery and being fitted with the processor to the implants I went out on the porch one morning and heard this chirping noise which I hadn’t heard in many years. I ask someone what it was and they said it was birds. From 1989 to 2012 I wore my single cochlear implant processor daily but didn’t wear anything in my left ear as my hearing was to bad. In 2012 they put another cochlear implant in my left ear so currently I can hear better than at any time since I lost my hearing at age 6. I’m sure thankful for modern medical technology.

I’m sure there’s some around here as well. I’m not condoning child porn but sometimes law enforcement over here get overzealous when they’re looking for child porn. I had a friend who had his door broken down, thrown on the floor placed in hand cuffs and his computer and phone were seized just because some perverted idiot was down loading child porn from his IP address which was not password protected. Nothing was ever found and I’m sure there was nothing to be found. Law enforcement eventually returned his computer and phone after a month or 2 but never reimbursed him for his broken down door. My friend was a reserve deputy at the time this occurred but after this he decided he would no longer volunteer for that job.

It’s generally quite pointless to argue with family members about their religion. They know I’m atheist but when I try to talk to them about why I don’t believe they get upset so I’ve found it’s best to not mention the subject of religion. Almost all my family is quite conservative on politics just as I am so not much to argue on that point. Where I live here in Western Oklahoma we conservative’s are in the overwhelming majority unlike this website where we seem to be in the overwhelming minority.
