Triphid replies on Oct 31, 2018:
@Heraclitus I am more than cognizant of the meaning/s and terminologies in reference to 'Cults and Cultism' thank you. Now, instead of being so stubbornly pedantic, imo, consider this from outside the ' box;;' a) do not ALL religious systems of belief have a specific, central character of worship/veneration, b) do not all religious systems of belief have rituals, ceremonies, etc, etc, both public ( for the members of the 'congregation') and private ( secretive) for the select few, eg, Catholicism, Anglican and xtianity in particular such as Baptism/Christening, Confession, Tithing/taking up a weekly, collection etc, c) for Xtianity, in particular here, do not they all worship/adore/venerate an invisible, intangible Deity, or as in the Catholics, etc, a Trinity of Sacred Entities, yes the Mormons elect their OWN living Prophet on a very regular basis, ergo that ' prophet' is in all truth the CULT Leader just as is the Catholic Pope, the Anglican Archbishops, etc, etc, d) as for " Death Cultism' are not the vast majority of religions, world-wide, based and concerned with what happens to the believer AFTER death, i.e. in the next life/After-life, etc, call it what you may it is all the same? Ergo, technically and logically speaking, then organized religions ARE cult in nature and in practice are they not?

Even though both Lorrae and I were both not at ease with heights we even got to go up the Great Pyramid to see the actual marking left behind by the work crews who built it, plus, sadly the mindless graffiti scrawled everywhere by stupid tourist from as early as the 1800s up until the late 1960s.

Triphid replies on Oct 29, 2018:
The ' legitimacy' of a child determined by the marital status of the parents is and always has been determined solely by the imposed rules and regulations of Religions. Perhaps we could all learn a lesson from the Australian Emu, a member of the Ratite genus of birds. The male Emu builds a nest at the beginning of the mating season and then waits until a female inspects the nest, if she approves of it she then mates with him AFTER she has laid her already fertilized eggs, fertilized by another male btw. The male then begins to incubate those eggs whilst she moves on to mate with another male elsewhere and so on and so forth. The male emu may then get any number of other females laying her eggs in his nest, he simply incubates them all without exception, watches over them once they hatch and protects them all without exception until they have grown old enough to fend for themselves. Now, to my mind, THAT IS what TRUE Fatherhood/Parenthood is ALL about.

You see Sir, the difference between an Atheist and a Theist/Religious believer is that the Atheist ACTUALLY has read the bible in its entirety whereas the Theist/Believer is very prone to ' cherry-pick' his/her way through it. @Antifred the combination of Biblical and Archaeology are just another account of the irrational usage of Oxymorons since anyone with a Biblical bent can simply dig up a stone, bit of wood, etc, anywhere and without scientific testing or substantiating evidence claim, falsely I might add, it to be PROOF that Israel, the Bible, etc, etc, ad nauseum, are historically and factually correct 100%. That is precisely why anyone with a wee bit of intelligence and knowledge starts to doubt ANY claims put forward by these 'revered' Jewish Archaeological Scholars, for example, How many of them have ' claimed' that that natural outcrop in Turkey is the remains of Noah's mythological Ark? It has proven numerous times over by Tried and Trusted Scientific methods that it is NOT what these Biblical Scholars have repeatedly claimed it to be, just as has the Shroud of Turin, etc, etc.

@Antifred A) it has been proven Archaeologically and Historically that the biblical Exodus from Slavery in Egypt NEVER happened, b) there were NO Israeli peoples until 1948 when the lands belonging to Palestine were STOLEN from them and given to the Jews. c) the name 'Israel/Israeli' is derived from both the Ancient Egyptian and Assyrian languages word "Ishraeli/ Ishimraeli"meaning " those who are not to be trusted," "those who are reviled by all who meet them," "those who war amongst themselves and ALL others," and also as the" Hebruum" meaning "the filth from the lands of snakes and scorpions." The only historical mention made of anyone with a name closely resembling ' Moses' was a Hebruum Mercenary Leader called Moseh who led a band of Mercenaries employed to guard the Border region of Goshen, Egypt, against Raiders of Trade Caravans, his 600 men, women and their children were EXPELLED from Goshen by the King of Egypt, Tutankhamun, for crimes such as Extortion, Slave Trading and wanton disregard for duties for which they were employed. As for Science ' hi-jacking' from religion, I ask you this, Why would something based upon research, rationality, knowledge, proof positive need to bother with 'hi-jacking' from something that requires, little more than faith and trust in a mere book that can offer up NO evidential Proof Positive in its own veracity and existence? One could easily say that ANY book of fiction, i.e. Harry Potter for example, is on exactly the same level as the bible, simply because the analogies are the same. Basic forms of the Sciences were being studied long, long before the original form of the Judeo-Christian Theosophy of Monotheism was ever invented/created in the minds of the Hebrews, in fact the FIRST idea of there being a FORMAL SINGLE God Entity was conceived in Ancient Egypt by King Akhenaton ( Amenhotep IV) which resulted in the Armana ( Akhetaton) ' experiment' coming into being.

@Antifred Well, scientifically speaking, LIGHT is just Photons travelling from a source to a point where it impacts an object to either be reflected or absorbed. Considering the LIGHT encompasses ALL the colours of the visible and invisible 'light' spectrum, i.e. Infrared right through to Ultraviolet and it can be fully absorbed by an object thus giving the visual impression of that object have a ' black/dark' hue or partially absorbed thus giving the impression of being one of the other colours/combination of colours, then we see the written word simply because light striking it has either been absorbed fully by the ink used, i.e. black ink = no reflected light, or from the light being reflected by the paper, i.e. white paper reflecting the entire spectrum, the retina of our eyes then detects the light via the layer of rods and cones contained within it, thus creating minute electrical signals that travel along the Optic Nerves to the area of the brain that can decode them and tell us what we are seeing and learning It is a simple explanation that I am putting across here I know, but being unsure of your Anatomical Knowledge and Understanding I thought best that I should adopt the K.I.S.S. principle anyway. As a further note here, I should mention that LIGHT is known, scientifically, to be a part of the much wider Electromagnetic Spectrum contain such as Long Wave, Medium Wave, Short Wave, Micro-wave, etc, radio signals, Low Frequency High frequency, Very High Frequency, Ultrahigh Frequency signals, etc. Also, radio signals ( waves) are measured in TWO ways, i.e. by Frequency = simply put, by the number of waves to pass a given point in a given amount of time, 1 wave in 1 second to pass the given point = 1 cycle or 1 Hertz, and, by Wave length = the distance between the crest ( amplitude) of each wave to pass the same given point in the same given amount of time, ergo we get Low Waves, Medium Waves, etc, etc. Similar is used to describe the action and travel of Sound Waves which are merely pulsations ( waves) of compressed and expanded peaks and troughs of air caused by the vibrations of an object such as the human larynx for example.

@TheMiddleWay I may be mistaken here, but I seem to get the impression that we have a religious Apologist here, or a partial one at least. Precisely HOW much do you know and understand in regards to Art, portraits, etc, in particular and 'stick figures' especially? As an artist, I'd say that a mere 'stick' figure requires the addition of a 'caption' to explain to the viewer WHOM it represents otherwise it is little more than a few lines and a circle put together as very vague representative attempt of describing a human being, something that most children produce from the earliest times of their experiences with pencil and paper. Btw, ALL of those 'attributes' assigned to the Judeo-Christian God Being were already ascribed to the innumerable Gods and Goddesses a very long time before the Judeo-Christian God was INVENTED in case you were unware of the historical FACT. Plus, as further note, I do think that your comprehension of the Judeo-Christian God is based solely upon 2 things; a) what you were INSTRUCTED to believe as a member of the Catholic Church, and, b) what you were told to read from the extremely, inaccurately, rewriting of the original bible and Torah ( well the Pentateuch of it at least) commonly known as the K.J. version. Whereas the Aramaic ( not Hebrew because that language evolved much later btw) original states, " Yahweh, Eloi, Yehovah, Hashem, the most Powerful, the Mightiest, the Most Perfect and Divine One,...…" Ergo the Judeo-Christian God of which we are discussing IS PERFECT, is ascribed by its followers as being PERFECT, its IMAGE is and MUST be PERFECT hence to CREATE in its own IMAGE it would have created man in a PERFECT image of itself.

@Meili Yes, I leave the bedding ( sheets and blankets) where it lays when I get up in the morning, BUT I change and wash the sheets on a weekly basis, do NOT use a clothes dryer, rather prefer to hang the laundry on the clothes line and let it dry in sun since U.V. rays from sunlight also Dust Mites, etc, where clothes dryers do not. Blankets are also laundered at approx. intervals of 4 weeks and the same is done with them. When summer comes around, here in Outback Australia, it is far too hot at nights for blankets so they get an extra laundering and drying then are packed away fresh, new large plastic bags, sealed up and put in storage in a cupboard until winter comes around again.

@hrichardson8 " Pseudo-science," is that what you think I am using? Sorry my friend BUT after working as a very well QUALIFIED Nurse for more years than I care to count, including General Nursing right through to Obstetrics and Midwifery btw, pseudo-science/s does NOT come into account in any way, shape nor form. PURE and unadulterated Medical Science/s are what I studied at every stage of my intensive training and applied during those years, no mumbo-jumbo/witchcraft, etc, etc. IF, as you say, you blood contains an Antigen for the HIV ( Human Immuno-deficiency Virus) then it was due to either 1 of two possibilities; a) you had accidentally come into contact with bodily fluids from a source/carrier of the HIV virus, or, b) by a very, very, remote possibility the syringe/needle, etc, used to draw your blood earlier was NOT sterile to begin with. As to our evolution causing viruses to mutate, well that is not how evolution of viruses works, they evolve by themselves from the original virus just a we do, for example, there are actual pathogens that have evolved the ability to resist/overcome many antibiotics, Staph. Aureus ( Golden Staph.) being one of them. Some 40 years ago Staph. Aureus was easily treated by an intial I.V.dose of 500mgms of Penicilin A type Antibiotic follwed up with a course of 250mgms of Pen.A T.D.S. for 7 to 10 days, now it is classed as a Multistrain Resistant Infective Agent and requires a very specific, far more rigorous course of Antibiotic treatments, that is the evolution of a virus.

I honestly think that it is HIGH time for the peoples of Australia, workers, pensioners, unemployed, etc, to rise up and form their own Political Party, a party governed by the true meaning of Democracy, with a true Social and Environmental Conscience, completely open and free of outside influences such as religions, the Big money end of town, etc, and a Party where the PEOPLE have their say and it is heard and acted upon. For far too long have WE been apathetic and now look where it has gotten us.

@johnprytz In my opinion it IS how you bring your child up from infanthood that decides whether or not they learn to be both critical and skeptical. I brought my daughter up from infanthood to think for herself, to discuss, even in terms as per her grasp on language/grammar, etc, to question and to use reason at all times. By the time she was about 4 yrs old she had worked out for herself that Santa Claus was just a story and Xmas Presents did NOT magically appear by themselves overnight, etc. When she asked a question, any question at all, she was given the answer in language and terminology that befitted her understanding BUT always the TRUTH, hence she knew at an early age where babies came from, how things worked, why things happened, etc, etc. And YES she was also taught to look BOTH ways before crossing a road, to be wary around strangers, BUT also to be kind and gentle towards others among numerous other things. Ergo, HOW you choose to rear your child/children DOES have a DIRECT effect upon your child/children grow into adulthood and the kind of person they eventually become.

Herding the Religious is far more simpler and easier than even herding sheep, for herding sheep one needs at least ONE man and a couple of well trained dogs, whereas to herd the religious all one needs to do is to tell them that it is Sunday, Church awaits them, bring your wallets/purses, wear your 'Sunday Best' and they'll flock along willingly.

@johnprytz IMO, they do so simply because they are gullible enough, as were their parents before them, etc, etc, to believe almost anything they were told without even thinking to question it. As I often refer to them, they are Sheeple, - across between people and sheep, bred to be almost mindless, demure, obedient, submissive things that are so easily controlled that they will line up in their droves to be ' fleeced' at a whim.

Triphid replies on Oct 20, 2018:
@johnprytz Only since Xtianity got its stinking feet in the door. Before that in much earlier times the week began on Monday ( the day of the Moon) and ended on a Sunday ( the day of the Sun). But the Churches didn't take the Hebrew " sabbath" into account and decided that Sunday would be ' their' sabbath instead. It just goes to show how early Xtianity was so screwed up doesn't it.
