How do you debunk it when someone claims religion, no matter it's true or false' serves as an ...
Triphid comments on Jun 9, 2019:
Religious beliefs can and are a placebo to those who have great difficulty in dealing with and living in a Universe of Reality, Reasoning, Logic and Acceptance of Responsibility for Ones own Actions, etc. However, this 'placebo' is NOT as benign as you would believe, it IS addictive, VERY addictive and has innumerable unwanted 'side-effects' such as creating a dumbing down effect on the user, a continuously growing need/desire for stronger and greater doses, it often alienates the user from those around them who are not so 'addicted,' etc, etc, to name just a few.
Catholic priest who works with kids says Pride flag was made by Satan
Triphid comments on Jun 9, 2019:
Er, didn't anyone ever tell that jerk that the rainbow, upon which the " Pride Flag " is based WAS actually an invention of his Great, Imaginary, Invisible Sky Daddy who sent it, the RAINBOW, down after the Great Flood as a PROMISE to mankind that he'd no longer persecute them, etc?
Religion in a relationship
Triphid comments on Jun 9, 2019:
Some differences in any relationship make for a better relationship, when it comes to a difference over religion and non-belief, imo, it'd be far better that a non-believer hooks up with either a fellow non-believer or, at least, a believer who is tolerant, non-judgmental and open-minded enough to accept your ways, thoughts and ideas, etc, as well.

Speaking to family about religion
Triphid comments on Jun 6, 2019:
The Faithfools of this world are, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the most judgmental, divisive, discriminatory, etc, of almost all the peoples on this planet. Stand tall, be proud, never waver and tell them outright and succinctly that you have " marched boldly and willingly across the Threshold dividing Fantasy and Superstition, etc, and into the universe of Logic, Reasoning, Free-thinking, True Individuality, etc, and IF they do NOT like it then it IS their loss and theirs alone." Hey, hang on there a minute, I thought that ALL Churches belonged to and were the Houses of this Sky Daddy so, How can your Father own his Church when this god is the supposed owner anyway?

Triphid comments on Jun 4, 2019:
The Liberal-National Party 'catch-cry' of the " Trickle Down Effect" is, in my opinion and that of so, so many others as well, little more than absolute BULLSHIT just as is their tiresome rhetoric that 1) We have created X number of jobs, 2) We WILL have the Finances in the Black by such and such a date, and all the other political hog-wash they try to ram down our throats. Where, exactly, are these 'jobs' that they have created, definitely NOT out here in remote regions of Australia of that I can assure you. Unions and their members battled and went on strike for days, weeks and often months at a time to get workers the 40 hour week, Penalty Rates and decent working conditions, then along came little Johnny "Cane-Toad" Howard with his NEW Slavery Ideas, the Employers jumped at those ideas and now we have workers doing 12 hour shifts, NO Penalty Rates and Working Conditions that are as near to slavery as you can get without being actual Slave Conditions. BUT the Bosses are rubbing their hands together in sheer and unadulterated ECSTASY while the workers, especially in the Local Mines here in Broken Hill, are too bloody exhausted after each shift to enjoy life with their families ( if they get to actually see them between shifts and sleeping that is) and wearing their bodies out before they can even hope for retirement. Plus we now the NEW FIFO ( Fly in Fly Out) workers in many areas and they have taken away ANY job opportunities from locals so the 'Trickle Down Effect' is nothing more than a Reverse Flow Action where everything FLOWS upwards and into the coffers of the Rich and Wealthy and the poor and sweaty get S.F.A. ( Sweet F*** All) instead. By hey, the Bosses are happy, the 'drones' who support the Liberal- National Hives and live in the cities are content with betters roads, services and facilities so who gives a shit for the rest of the people when they can get all the scraps from the feasts that the Wealthy ever so generously (??) drop at their feet. WAKE UP Australian People, you've become fishes on the Hook, you've sold out your Parents and your Grand-parents for what, a few crumbs from the floor beneath the rich man's Feasting Tables? You HAVE let yourselves be led by the nose back towards the times of the Feudal Past where we were all just mere Peasants, Serfs and 100% EXPENDABLE.

Married twice, divorced the first one, separated from the second since 2005, had 2 longish term relationships since and both were with demanding, domineering women, live alone now and will probably stay that way UNLESS there is a partner, who like myself, just wants friendship, respect, loving, caring, fidelity and sees so-called 'marriage as an institution designed and imposed by religions and governments as a 'money-making' enterprise that it really is and always has been.

Triphid comments on Jun 3, 2019:
Imho, the Australian Governments have been about as useful as Tits on a Bull for decades, they bow and scrape to who ever offers them the most money be they International Corporations, Foreign Governments, etc, etc, and rub their hands together with unfettered glee as they sell us out. And this WILL continue unabated UNTIL the Australian People stand together as ONE and wrest back OUR Land, Country and Rights once and for all.

Triphid comments on Jun 3, 2019:
When my daughter, Lorrae, was 10 years old her school held a Student and Mother day, she was quite distressed that her Teacher had told her that because I was only her father, even though I was her legal Sole Custody Parent, I could NOT attend on that occasion because it MIGHT upset some of the mothers there to have a male in attendance. So to circumvent the sexism of the school and to try my utmost to ensure my daughter wasn't left out, I attended. The ONLY adverse reaction we got was from the female School Principal who literally demanded that I leave, when she had finished with her tirade my daughter stood up, tall, proud and in a loud but steady voice said, " He is my Dad, my Best Friend, the best Mother anyone could ever have, he's been my Mother since I was a baby because the one who was supposed be my mother didn't give a shit about me and IF Dad has to leave then I go with him, so stick that where the sun never shines." At that moment EVERY woman and child in the Hall rose to their feet cheering and clapping, except, of course, for the School Principal, who hung her head and crept slowly out of the Hall with her head bowed and her shoulders drooping. Lorrae then quietly said to me, " That showed her, didn't it Dad?" The rest of the day went perfectly and we made a lot of new friends that day.
I've posted this before but every time I do I get berated for doing so.

Firstly, WHY keep on posting the same thing when the answer/s are within your own mind, all you need do is to merely sit and think for yourself and they will come to you? Secondly, WHY must those who completely disbelieve/reject ANY and ALL concepts, ideologies, etc, of a Supreme Entity/Deity need such a concept in the first place? Thirdly, IF you are harbouring a fear/dread, etc, that you may cause offense to some Invisible, Imaginary Sky Daddy by 'fence-sitting' then just climb down off of the fence and join the rest of the sheeple at the nearest church/temple of Superstitious Inanity. Would that not be far easier than what you appear to be doing right now, i.e. becoming, seemingly, another 'religious 'roach' (Troll) similar to the one, at least the one the one we are ALL aware of that is on here, whom I have now named as being Friar Fred, aka, AntiFred?

When required to give evidence I always state clearly that I am an Atheist and affirm on my word of Honour, which is the bedrock of my life btw, that the evidence I am about to give is the Truth to best of knowledge. The kind who utter such derogatory, demeaning, vile and insulting religious garbage such as he did recently can't, imo, even be described as either arse-holes or even heels ( which are a lot LOWER than an arse-hole btw) since they are so LOW that they'd have to stretch their necks to look upwards to watch a snake slither past them.

Xstianity is notorious for its preaching of "Go forth and Multiply," but has never once allowed for the possibility that such an ideology could be socially, economically and environmentally harmful. It is a historical fact that the Catholic Church actually sold unwanted babies to the highest bidders for centuries plus often put the single mothers into Church enforced Servitude both in the pre-natal and post- natal stages as well. It is also worth noting here and IS a historically known fact also, that countless Convents throughout Europe, the U.K and the Western world ALL had Lime Pits in their grounds. These Lime Pits were for SOLE purpose of disposing of babies born to the " Brides of Christ," a.k.a. the Nuns, who 'mysteriously(????)' managed to fall pregnant since those babies could NOT be sold/adopted out as they were considered as being Non- Church Property or 'tainted children.'

The only 'life after death' that occurs, as far as I know from my experiences in the fields of medicine, is the bacteria, worms, etc, that live, thrive and breed from and in your body as it decays away. Eventually, if you are buried and not cremated all that is left of your corporeal being is bones until they too break down and join the minerals, etc, in the soil or become fossilised. There is, imho, nothing to fear from or in death, it is just the next stage in natures way of re-cycling.

" Over 2,500 gods," that is an underestimate to say the very least considering that, for example, Hinduism has at least 300,000 Gods/Goddesses, both major and minor included, in its pantheon alone. Xstianiy, though it WILL vehemently deny it, has 3 major God figures plus, on the latest Catholic count, some 1,489 lesser god-like deities or saints. If you take into account the the gods/goddesses from histories long past, then the total would be stupendous imho.

Triphid comments on May 21, 2019:
All animals, fish, etc, etc, living today and that have lived in the millions of years before are just mere twigs on the branches of the Tree of Evolution. All life began as single celled organisms in the Primordial Seas and slowly, but surely, evolved over periods of time just a tiny seed that looks nothing remotely like a tree eventually will grow to become a tree after years of struggle and adaption to the climate, if needed, Homo Sapiens, us, did the same but we are NOT and never will the 'Pinnacle of Evolution,' despite what we'd like to believe, evolution will continue on and on adding newer branches and twigs to the 'tree' as it wishes and as it always has done.
Can an atheist be a hippy?
Triphid comments on May 21, 2019:
I like to think that as an Atheist we can choose to be what ever we wish since the only restrictions we have to deal with are Ethics, Morals and the Laws of the Land in which we live and the Society of which we are a part of.
The latest issue of "The Atlantic" is out and guess what is the cover story?
Triphid comments on May 21, 2019:
" We, the Atheists, the Heathens, Pagans, etc, can and do wield the Malleii Veritas often with great and precise accuracy, but should we all wield them together in unison then shall we see the Temples of Delusion, Discrimination, Lies, Superstition and Corruption, etc, come crashing in clouds of dust." - William Anthony, 2015.
sigh It never ends.
Triphid comments on May 21, 2019:
Oh wouldn't that be wonderful, there'd be Xstians collapsing in dead faints everywhere and as true and decent caring people it'd be we, Atheists, who be the ones helping them to recover.
Who is actually 'open-minded'?
Triphid comments on May 20, 2019:
I think and trust that you will find that the most open-minded people on this insignificant hunk of rock we call the Earth would the declared Atheists since we, for the most part, have read and studied the Goat-Herders Guide to Galaxy word by word, line by line, chapter by chapter, etc, etc, WITH an open mind and not, as ever so many Faithfools do, merely Cherry-picking our way through it. That also covers how we, Atheists view Science, History, etc, etc, i.e. we read it, digest it, dissect it, examine it, weigh it up and then, also with an open mind, come to our own conclusions, theories, etc. To me, personally, having an open mind is where ones is OPEN to see both sides of everything equally, understanding both sides equally, examining it from ALL sides equally, etc, and then and only then forming your own conclusions, etc.
Hmm.
Triphid comments on May 20, 2019:
That is kind of like when the Faithfools try to tell me that " We are ALL Gods' children," and I ask them, quite nicely, " But IF that is so, then why do we all look so different?," or, " Are we not simply committing the Sin of Incest by marrying our brother or sister, etc?" Then comes the Faithfool impersonation, in my opinion, of a single cylinder, 2 Stroke Engine trying its hardest to find its true idling speed, i.e. the " but, but ,but, but" sounds that they exude so very well when cornered.
So, now the religious zealots are claiming that you don't have to believe in God to know right from ...
Triphid comments on May 20, 2019:
Religions, Christianity in particular, seem to make it a point to ceaselessly stick their noses, etc, into the Female Reproductive Systems of Human Beings, a place where, in my honest opinion, they have right nor reason to put them in the first place. A womans body IS her OWN property and She alone should have the ONLY right to say what happens to it and when, where and how it happens.
What do you save for sentimental reasons?
Triphid comments on May 20, 2019:
Jeez Louise, I've kept numerous items as memorabilia of my Late, Lamented Daughter, Lorrae, including some hair from her very first hair-cut kept in tightly sealed plastic bag., there is even the dried up piece of her umbilical cord in tightly sealed ceramic jar that I placed under the root-ball of a tree I planted about a week after she was born as a kind of time-capsule as well, the tree is now well over 20 feet high and still growing strong. These days I also stow away drawings done for me by my 5 year old nephew, Henry, and some very old coins that I'll pass on to Henry one day.
My daughter's science teacher believes in God, magic etc.
Triphid comments on May 20, 2019:
Oh FFS, how bloody far will these Bible-Bashing, Idiotic, Faithfools go these days? Religion BELONGS, If it truly belongs that is, only in Churches, etc, and most definitely NOT in Public Schools, etc. What the f*** will we see next, Barbie Dolls being branded as Jezebels, G.I. Joe dolls made to carry crucifixes?
I actually saw an ad on TV today, that surprised me - in a good way, telling about "Freedom from ...
Triphid comments on May 19, 2019:
Freedom from Religion = A true freedom to be cherished and fostered.
Penn Jillette on Atheism and Islamaphobia - YouTube
Triphid comments on May 19, 2019:
Hear, hear, there is no such thing as either Islamophobia or Racism, Islam is merely a Theosophy just as is Christianity, etc, etc. Only an IDEA purely and simply an Idea, disparage the idea but NOT the person who follows it, instead HELP them to find their way out of that belief system.
Do atheists value life more than theists considering that they don't believe in a afterlife
Triphid comments on May 19, 2019:
Yes, personally speaking as an Atheist here, we do place a worth on life itself since there has never any irrefutable, empirically proven evidence shown of either an After-life or a God of any kind. "Life is for the Living and the living of, Death is merely for the Dead and Death and Dying come to ALL us in turn, whether or NOT we want it to." - William Anthony, 2016.

In two simple and succinct words, No chance.
I'm joining this group though I'm in NZ -- US born but my mother was an Aucklander.

G'day there from your friends across the ditch, we are always ready to welcome new friends and compatriots, happy to discuss Reality, Reasoning and Logic thought, etc, with a new-chum.
Some folks wonder where all this hate and discontent comes from.
Triphid comments on May 18, 2019:
A 'bog-standard' shit dribbling, self-righteous, self -ordained prime example of Christianity at its very worst in my opinion BAR none.
Not ridiculing, just curious.
Triphid comments on May 18, 2019:
Some of us Atheists enjoy, from time to time, a bit of 'Baiting the Faithfools' that often linger on sites like this one pretending to be either Atheists or Agnostics, etc. Hence, in doing so it does, quite often, bring the some of those 'roaches,' aka Trolls, out from under the skirting boards and into the light.
This kid will be an agnostic/atheist for sure!
Triphid comments on May 18, 2019:
My daughter realised early that both Father Xmas and the Tooth Fairy were total bullshit because, a) she caught me putting her Xmas presents around her bed whilst I was dressed as Father Xmas and also hid a pig's tusk under her pillow and asked why the next morning there was no money even though it was a tooth.
Too much logic for the religious people. Lol
Triphid comments on May 18, 2019:
Religious Logic- one of the biggest misnomers of all time imho.
Good Morning All. Not sure what you're drinking this morning. What do you think of this cup?
Triphid comments on May 18, 2019:
Having a glass of my nice icy cold Iced Coffee and 2 slices of toast ( no images of any mythological Messiah on them...LOL.) with butter, promite, not that horrible, salty Vegemite, and a slice of Jarlsberg Cheese on top as well. Later it will be shower, shave and get dressed time, go and get the Sunday paper and some nice hot Fish and Chips ( or maybe a Hamburger instead) for lunch.
Others’ expectations can weigh us down or offer encouragement. I hope this helps someone today.

As the work Desiderata goes, " You are a Child of the Universe, no less than the trees and the Stars, you have a right to be here......"
Something for the guys...if it applies.

My fishing 'skills' are somewhat limited to 'teaching worms to swim.' Pretty darned good at that bit, I might add.
I make my own soap, and I don’t shower daily. Had to join 😎
Triphid comments on May 18, 2019:
The last time I tried making soap was in a High School Lab experiment and for a bit of extra experimentation we added Nitric Acid to the glycerine that remained after the saponification was finished, Whoops, primitive Nitro-Glycerine and a smallish bang plus a hole in the Lab sink resulted. We got detention for the rest of the week plus a trip out into the scrub with an Explosives Expert to watch as the rest of our 'experiment' was detonated a very safe distance away.
Love this❤✌
Triphid comments on May 18, 2019:
I grew a very nice plant of it, quite illegally here in Australia btw, BUT my chickens got a taste for it and destroyed it, the eggs had a somewhat different taste, kind of up-lifting, though.
