Triphid replies on Dec 11, 2019:
@FrayedBear At last count there was well over 300,000 litres of groundwater in EACH of the Number 2 and Number Shafts of the Old North Broken Hill Mine Lease. Mining Company, Perilya, want to re-open these shafts BUT the water problem is giving them trouble because they have nowhere to pump it that conforms with EPA guide-lines. Yes, the water is contaminated with rust from abandoned mining equipment, explosives residues and mineral residues, etc, BUT it IS water and that water is sorely needed to fight these fires so why not use it, the heat from the fires will vaporize the explosives residues, burn off the other residues but the water will help to put the fires out, shit, if pissing on the fires would be of any help at all I'd be volunteering all the piss I can possibly make.

Triphid replies on Dec 11, 2019:
@FrayedBear Well way back in 1994 I actually, designed, invented and tested a prototype of what I called the Bio-degradable Water Bombing Device that used waste plastics for the shell and waste water plus retardants for the contents. I applied for and got a patent for it, tested numerous sizes from ones holding 20 litres of water to ones small enough to fired from a gun similar to a Flare Gun. The 20 litre ones were dropped onto large trays of burning diesel from a private, single engine aircraft owned by a friend from altitudes of anywhere between 100metres and 500metres each rime and they worked great, putting the diesel fire out completely and it WAS NO small amount of diesel used each time either, we used about 30 litres spread out over an area of 60+ square metres. I offered my Water Bomb designs to countless manufacturers of Fire Fighting Equipment and the Australian Government and got knocked back every time. We even tested the "mini bombs" inside a close steel shed to simulate an underground or building blaze. We built and used a home-made compressed air operated pistol to fire them at the base of each fire with exactly the same results, total and complete extinguishment of the blaze. All of this was done under very watchful eyes of the local Fire Brigade who actually, with my written consent, filmed and documented every test and results. What I was using as a Fire Retardant surprised them all, a mix of cheap, common household dishwashing liquid, sugar and laundry powder added to the water ( waste grey water I might add). I still have the designs stashed away amongst my numerous other documents, etc, including a design for Altitude sensing Detonation of the Water Bombs and maybe, just maybe, when the Government is screaming out for new Fire-Fighting Ideas they may just deign to contact me.
Of great concern to all including @Triphid. [smh.com.au]

Triphid replies on Dec 10, 2019:
Only less than 1 third of the fires are presently under 'control' and with weather warming up as it always at this time of year, sadly, things can change in an instant plus almost the entire country is drier than a tinder-box and that means it only takes one tiny spark or a gust of wind and those fires will be raging again. You know, it's got me buggered WHY they insist upon using water from dams and reservoirs, etc, to dump on the fires from the air when, like around Sydney for example, they have bloody miles and miles of seas and oceans available and they could also be diverting sewage out flows into holding areas as storages for water as well. We ARE in a HUGE drought FFS, every drop of potable water IS needed for the people, etc, to drink so why not leave that for those who need it and use that which no-one wants instead?

@Beowulfsfriend Okay, so I made a mistake in posting that in the wrong place but I was attempting to show how a Genealogy can and ever so often does get 'created' to suit a purpose as per, in my opinion, was precisely done knowingly by the writers of the Goat-Herders Guide to the Galaxy, aka the bible. Another prime and even more recent example of falsified Genealogies is the British Royal Family who 'claim' they can trace their lineage back to the completely mythological King Arthur, they call themselves the 'House of Windsor' but until the Outbreak of WWI their real name was Sax-Coburg-Gotha, a German name of full German origins which they HASTILY changed due to the rising Anti-German sentiments and because they FEARED that the people would turn against them if they didn't. Now, do you see just how simple it is to 'create' something believable from mere bullshit? That is precisely what I intended to do with my original posting.

Triphid replies on Dec 8, 2019:
Well it CAN be done by an Act of Parliament according to the research done by M.P. Julian Hill. Why are you opposed to Australian land/s being OWNED by the English Royal Family and not by those who work them and HAVE to pay Annual Leasehold Fees, PLUS the Annual Government imposed rates, levies and taxes as well, to a completely FORIEGN Ruling Power? One of the Regulations/Laws governing Crown/Western Lands Leaseholds is that the leaseholder MUST make the prescribed improvements as requested by the Crown and Western Lands Commission EVERY year no matter the present circumstances, no matter the effects, good or bad, they may have on the country/land or environment, etc, etc. A Leaseholder under the Crown and Western Lands Act and Commission can ONLY own the structures erected upon the land/s but NOT the land itself, that also includes homes, etc, in towns and cities as well as Farming and Stock Raising Properties and the Commission CAN cancel any lease at a moments notice and without the Leaseholder having ANY avenue for recourse. Having Freehold Title over the land you work or living upon is far, far better than having an very Absentee Landlord living over 10,000+ kilometres away is it not?
Tough choice!

4. The universe is not fine tuned.
Triphid replies on Dec 7, 2019:
@Geoffrey51 The Universe is most definitely NOT fine tuned since IF it were then there would be no 'left-over' bits and pieces such as Asteroids, Meteors, Comets, etc, whizzing around in it would there? There would be NO vast vacuous space literally everywhere between planets and Galaxies, etc, there WOULD be life of some kind or other on EVERY planet in every Solar System in EVERY Galaxy as well. There wouldn't be Super Nova occurring, Suns burning up all their Hydrogen and then expanding to swallow up the planets nearest to them, No Black Holes swallowing everything and anything around them, No Galaxies swallowing their neighbors, etc, etc. Fine tuning means, literally, everything running as smooth as clock-work, no 'hiccups,' no errors, no mistakes, etc, etc. The Universe is very random, often very unpredictable and even chaotic at times, ergo 'fine tuning' does NOT exist in the Universe.
What are your objections to the fine tuning argument for the existence of god

I see human extinction much more a matter of "when" than that of "if". Personally, I think it's terribly arrogant for any of us to believe our species ought to go on "forever".
Triphid replies on Dec 6, 2019:
Well death and extinction come to every living thing eventually and we humans are no different despite what we try to think. It is estimated that somewhere around 4.5 to 5 Billion years from now the Sun will have burnt up all its hydrogen and begin expanding outwards to engulf everything between it and Mars BUT before that happens there are a few other possibilities, 1) We will end up turning this planet, our ONLY true home, into something akin to a large, stinking, fetid rubbish dump orbiting the Sun devoid of most life except germs, bacteria, cockroaches and the like, or, 2) and the chances are pretty high on this one btw, an Asteroid as big or bigger than the one that hit in the age of the Dinosaurs will strike the planet and wipe out at least 90% of all life on it as has happened before a couple of times, or, 3) there may be another occurrence similar to the 'Siberian Traps' eruptions only bigger and lasting longer that may well tear the Earth's Crust to pieces and plunge the planet into a Volcanic Winter scenario lasting for thousands of years, or finally, 4) the eruption/eruptions of what Vulcanologists call the "Super Volcanos" bigger and even worse than when the Super Volcano, Mount Toba, erupted back around 70,000 years ago which , it is calculated, decimated the Homo Sapien species population by approx. 70 to 80%. Either way we are riding on a train with no driver and the braking system is almost worth next to nothing, so we need to learn to live together, work together, get along with each other, resolve our petty differences and rid ourselves of them entirely and clean up our act because the Universe doesn't care a fig, it will just go on and on with our without us.

Then, when the bush Pubs had opened up, usually around 4.00pm we'd stop at one of them on way back, have a Pub Raspberry and a packet of chips while Dad sat on the veranda with his nidi of beer and had a yarn with the other blokes sitting there. None of the bigger shops were ever open on a Sunday, just the corner shops to sell the Sunday papers and necessities, Pubs closed until 4.000pm then opened until 6.00pm for what was known as the " 6 O'clock Swill crowd," those were the really good days I reckon.

Who's competing, Bushfires, sadly, are somewhat regular thing in Outback Australia during the hot summers but these Bushfires are burning literally out of control in N.E. New South Wales S.E. Queensland, Sth. Australia and Tasmania, ripping their way through everything and anything in their path.At least 80% of Australia has been in a very prolonged drought since around 2003, everything that was once green is now either browned off and dead, just right for feeding the fires, or dying very slowly and will be fire fodder before much longer. Out here where I live, the Gateway to the Outback, the paddocks are little more than dust bowls covered with the remains of dead plants and grasses mixed in with the bleached white skeletons of animals, native and domestic, that have persished from thirst and starvation. Out here, our average anuual rainfall is about 10 inches, since around 2003 we have only received approx. 1 and 1 thirds years TOTAL rainfall since 2003, I suppose it could be said that, luckily, so far, there isn't enough heavy tree and scrub material around to allow Bushfires like those elsewhere to start and spread because IF one were to get started then there is NOT enough water available anywhere out here to put one out.

Plus Woolies have the most unfriendly Check-out Staff I've have ever met. So I decided to switch to Coles, which at the time meant an even longer trip by bus and the same by taxi btw, and suddenly I was in a shop where the Staff, Check-outs as well, were friendly, helpful and ALWAYS ring a taxi for me and WILL not allow me to pay them for the cost of the phone call either. Coles WILL open up another Check-out IF a line gets longer than 3 customers are waiting, Woolies, on the other hand, are quite pleased to have long, very long line ups at their check-outs and still will NOT open up another check-out.

Triphid replies on Dec 3, 2019:
@powder No there is shortage in production of Epipens just as there have been shortages of Flu Vaccines, etc, happening from time to time, usually these shortages occur mainly because of higher than expected demands happening. As for vaccinations being a " carrot and stick' kind of 'ploy,' ask yourself this question, Is the right of one or two parent/s more important than the potential risk of serious and possible deaths from ANY preventable sickness or disease of a child or children? I don't know if you have any children BUT would you deliberately place them in harms way by simply NOT having them vaccinated? I agree 100% with the idea that unvaccinated children should NOT be allowed into schools, etc, with other children, these unvaccinated children are NOT ONLY a risk to themselves BUT also a risk to others as well, a very, very high and dangerous risk to say the very least. Human kind is, after all is said and done, a Community, a vey very LARGE Community and can be easily equated to a wall made of bricks and mortar, 1 weak brick or weak mortar joint and the entire wall can come crashing down, so it can easily be with an unvaccinated child/person mingling with others, the infection spreads and the community is ravaged in even biblical proportions just as happened with the Bubonic Plague outbreaks in Europe, etc, where millions died. Death and diseases play no game of favourites, they know no man-made national borders, they see and acknowledge no ethnic/race differences, creeds or whatever, they just strike and do their worst then move on and ONLY vaccinations and prevention measures can either slow them or stop them, take those away and we ARE helpless.

@FrayedBear What the emu meat, the feathers or the turds? Have you ever eaten emu before, I have plenty of times, it's oily, and goes through you like a runaway train. Give me 'roo, wombat, goanna, snake, beef, lamb or pork any day.

I think he should just stick to making music.

Shit, I've heard what he calls 'music' and in my opinion, as musician he'd make a great Street Sweeper.

A few interesting things about the Australian Ratite (Emu) is that only the male incubates the eggs then cares for the young until they are old enough to survive on their own. @FrayedBear Yeah I've actually seen 'roos rip a dog open from neck to groin with one swipe of their hind foot and an emu kick a dog as far as 20 feet across the ground and bust its back in the process. Back in 1989, I was riding back to Broken Hill in the cab of a loco when an Emu took a 'flying' leap as we went past, ended up in the cab with me, the driver and the observer, then started kicking the shit out of everything and anything, luckily we all managed to escape to the Drivers cab at the other end of the loco and lock the emu in the front cab. When we finally arrived in the Broken Hill Railyards, the leading cab of the 80 class loco was a complete disaster area with windows smashed out, seat ripped to shreds, emu feathers and emu turds spread everywhere, those crazy 'bush chooks' are definitely something to avoid at all costs.
Not so sure about this one.

The resources of ANY country SHOULD belong to the People of that country and ONLY the People of that country. International/Multinational Companies/Corporations have ripped the guts out of Australia for far too long, their profits go overseas and we see sweet f*** all of them in return. Yes, ...

@powder And that is why, in my opinion, Aussies need to stop sitting back and whining like alcohols at a Mormon Wedding and stand up and be counted BEFORE this country ends up being nothing more than a pile of mining wastes exactly like Broken Hill is now with HUGE dumps of Mining Overburden and Smelter Slag, etc, blotting out the skyline in the middle of the town.
I post this idea NOT as a 'knee-jerk' response to the push by our Happy Clappy Jesus Chappy Prime ...

@FrayedBear Yeah, but in my opinion she is about as much use as Tits on a Bull at best. I'm TRYING to get a bit of sense and reasoning into politics in Australia in a way that might just benefit everyone, in particular those of us, the Atheists/Agnostics, etc, who really have NO say at all in the Government of Australia, something which is becoming very very apparent under the Morriscum Government these days. And yet, in my opinion, it seems that so far all anyone wants to do is just sit back, whine and complain about a new idea that might just have potential.
