Anybody have funny stories about a first date?
TristanNuvo comments on Oct 5, 2018:
I know this might sound crazy, But I've never had a bad first date, Although after getting to know them better after some time i found out what they were really like, and it was not good. That's actually one of the reasons I like meeting some one new over a couple of drinks. People seem to open up more and show their true colors.

Doubt vs gullibilty
TristanNuvo comments on Oct 3, 2018:
I've mentioned this in another post a bit ago. I find that planting seeds works wonders. i've had conversations with many believers, some are great friends. I learned that it's never a good thing to try and force any one to think differently than they do. However, what I do is listen to what they have to say. Then I'll say how I view things politely. Some times it gets into a great conversation. But I think that a lot of believers, especially the very religious have been mislead at what an Atheist, or non-believer is like. for instance i've heard from many that said things like, you seem very nice, and not judgemental, you seem to enjoy life, and you seem like a nice person, I would not have thought that. That seed of showing that their misconceptions about Atheists were not what they were told. That kind of seed has the potential to have a believer take pause and think. I've known many because of that, ended up questioning their own beliefs.

Age differences.
TristanNuvo comments on Oct 3, 2018:
Honestly I've never had a thing about age. Either we get along great, or we don't, to me age never comes into it. But I can say that I know what you mean about how old you look. I have the same thing. I look like i'm in my 30's ish. but I'm really 53. which is weird sometimes, because when I hang out with people my own age, they usually don't take me serioussly because they think I'm too young to understand.
This showed up on my FB feed a few minutes ago.
TristanNuvo comments on Oct 3, 2018:

Planting seeds works wonders. So does emperical evidence. Rather that trying to tell some one that they are wrong and stupid for thinking so, it is IMHO and experience that I will tell them What I understand to be true, and back it up with some published notations, or papers, or many other ways. Then let them decide for themselves. sometimes just the right seed can grow a giant tree. Attacking them only makes you the same as they are, and where then is the progress in that?

Atheism Isn’t Really A Big Deal | Martin Hughes
TristanNuvo comments on Sep 29, 2018:
I was a little bit different, yet have the same feeling. I was never a believer, I was not raised in a religious household, so I never really thought about it much. In fact I don't think I even heard the word 'Atheist' until was in my teens. I never really thought that one needed a name for just not believing in a god. But after growing up, and help from the internet I became aware of not just how many believers there are, but just how wacky some of them are. In that last two decades or so I started to meet more and more believers, that said the same kinds of things that you mentioned, like it is unhealthy to not believe in got, i must be depressed with out god in my life, you hate god because you just want to sin, and many other crazy shit like that. of the friends that I have, some are believers, and some are not. We all get along just fine because we judge each other on the kind of person we are rather than what our beliefs are. It's a shame that more people can't be like that.

Do atheists, who find no magic in the world, live drab, boring lives, by comparison?
TristanNuvo comments on Sep 29, 2018:
Atheists by definition don't believe in magic. But one can be inspired, even be in awe of learning what nature and the universe is. From the late great Carl Sagan. "I don't want to believe, I want to know". and learning something new to me is rather exciting. The last thing I would ever think of life as being boring.

Guys ask why women are so pissed off.
TristanNuvo comments on Sep 28, 2018:
I re-read this, and most of the comments quite a few times, and had changed what my comment was going to be about 100 times. So I've prepared myself for all the hate responses that I'll probably get. First off, I by no means at all am trying to belittle any of the horrible ways a lot of women get treated by men. It's down right inexcusable. But one thing I have to say here is for one, it's not ALL men that treat others like this, there are many who would never treat a woman like that. Second, I've known some men (including myself) that have been victomised by women. Yes, it does happen. If you think that women are the only ones that get abused, raped, assaulted etc. Watch any prison doc. that will put an end to that kind of thinking right away. Again, I really do understand (as much as I can) the horrible shit that some men do to not just women, but to anyone. But I've also seen and lived some horrible shit some women have done to men as well. I guess what I am trying to say here is that I don't like it when anyone categorises people in one group. There are many different kind of people, and just as many different kinds of behaviour. I think it's a good idea to talk about how EVERYONE, should or should not be treated. JMHO.
If we don't stand up for all people s rights, we stand for none.

TristanNuvo comments on Sep 27, 2018:

Road to theocracy
TristanNuvo comments on Sep 26, 2018:
At gunpoint. Seriously though, I don't understand how this is even a thing. The founding fathers were very specific about the seperation of church and state. How some have strayed away from that I will never know. But then it is sad at just how bad over the years at how much our educational system has regressed. And the clergy has exploited that as much as they can. So in turn, there are a lot of people that follow BS like the church says with blinders on,never thinking for themselves, no mater what kind of evidence is put forth to the contrary of what they believe. I think a little euthanasia is warranted. lol.
