All these people are just people, concerned with the same issues we are, but they believe in divine authority. They will die to prove their faith, for no reason at all seemingly, but there's a consistency that needs to be understood. Just calling them stupid makes salvage all but impossible. This seems to get to the heart of something bugging me. I have attended a fundamentalist church service within the last six years. They were pretty blatantly pro Republican, all their fears become our problems. This election seems to be dividing the people that clearly and loudly proclaim their faith and all the rest of us whom they discriminate against. They don't have to attend church to be culturally Christian either, see half of Appalachia. This may be the modern equivalent to Oliver Cromwell and the Round Heads, except for all his flaws Oliver actually believed, Donald doesn't.

I type for a living, writing code to control and monitor pre-cooled air pumped into passenger jets at airports, and did the R&D for the control system for converting airport 480 volt 60 Hertz power to 115 volt 400 Hertz power for the aircraft while their engines are shut down. We save millions of tons of carbon footprint because jet engines on idle guzzle fuel. But despite my considerable technical skills my survivalist skill set is minimal, mostly a relic of my youth when I did spend part of my time living off the land.

It reminds me of Alabama, but there they had less graffiti and more bumper stickers and if it's a pickup truck there's frequently a gun rack in the back window with at least two firearms on prominent display. In the 80's I remember going through Texas and needed smokes, I was on my Sportster and pulled in to a drive through convenience store behind a fully armed flyover survival vehicle, I saw them hand the beer out the window into the truck. I felt a real disturbance in the force, me, in Texas, watching armed men with firearms drinking and driving and resupplying without ever having to get out of their vehicle. I left the state, I have no plan to ever return.

Every clock I own is on world time, except my car clock. I remember when these time changes caused me all kinds of problems. I wear an Apple watch, and use iPhone, and all my computers have Internet access regardless of the OS. I never even look at the battery powered wall clock in my office, I don't even know if it works, I guess this is a good time to replace the battery and set the hands.
