@WilliamCharles About the only buildings that survive flood waters are concrete with steel enforcement. Two marks against them: they are more expensive than other construction and; 2) they tend to look ugly. >We don't really handle emergency preparedness all that well. Who's this "we" guy? Largely flooding is something that comes with advanced warning to people willing to ignore it. It's hard for me to forget having my late drinking buddy, Clyde the Wonderfog over for a hurricane party a good bit inland. The police went to every door on a barrier island telling the residents to either leave or give the cops the names of the next of kin. They added they were leaving the island as well. As the hurricane pushed 80% of the island buildings into the bay, Clyde had a bright idea: as long as the cops had left, we could ransack homes on the island. He wanted to borrow my 16 foot row boat to cross the bay and loot homes. Oh, yea, people can be that stupid.

@WilliamCharles Great theory that doesn't work. I lived near a barrier island. Once a hurricane reached shore the sea level would rise until the island was underwater. Those who build their homes on pilings had the same theory you have. Problem was that as the water poured across the island, it undercut the pilings. House go boom. After that it washed into the bay. The real solution is either build dykes or move further inland.

When Petunia returned, she wanted to know **why** I was sitting next to a pile of flowers. Had I lied and said I'd picked them myself, I would have gotten a lecture about damaging the park especially since I didn't bring a basket to carry them away. I didn't want to stuff them in my pockets because camellia blooms attract ants and often are crawling with them. In my position, what explanation would you have given her? The blooms all flew off the bushes and landed next to me? I feel like you've over rated me as one of those evil manipulative men you have known.

@Arachne He is able to read as he has read speeches from a promoter. He goes off script, often complaining that the prompter is scrolling too fast for him to read. He has a wealth of excuses why he avoids reading. The *Art Of The Deal* was written with a $500,000 advance to a ghost writer who did all the research, all the writing. The New Yorker magazine says this: *Starting in late 1985, [ Tony] Schwartz spent eighteen months with Trump—camping out in his office, joining him on his helicopter, tagging along at meetings, and spending weekends with him at his Manhattan apartment and his Florida estate. During that period, Schwartz felt, he had got to know him better than almost anyone else outside the Trump family. Until Schwartz posted the tweet, though, he had not spoken publicly about Trump for decades. It had never been his ambition to be a ghostwriter, and he had been glad to move on. But, as he watched a replay of the new candidate holding forth for forty-five minutes, he noticed something strange: over the decades, Trump appeared to have convinced himself that he had written the book. Schwartz recalls thinking, “If he could lie about that on Day One—when it was so easily refuted—he is likely to lie about anything.”* The article is fascinating. See: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2016/07/25/donald-trumps-ghostwriter-tells-all >He is stupid, but not that stupid. One of his college professors says he never had a student that dense before. Another professor says Trump's speech patters are that of a civilization that hasn't fully developed speech yet.

WonderWartHog99 replies on Mar 21, 2019:
Technically, no. In legal terms, a pyramid scheme has no product to sell. However multi-level products they stress how much money you **could** make selling dealerships rather than how much money you could make selling their over priced products. The typical problem is not only are their products overpriced, it involves the most difficult sale method -- cold calling people who don't want to know you.

@mistymoon77 Your reply baffled me because the disease is also known as "the bite of the wolf." Those who have it, often have marks on their skin that looks like a wolf bit them. I worked briefly with a fund raising organization to eradicate that disease. Any excuse to get out of the house. There are people (including myself) who enjoy having friends over to watch **badly made movies.** We pass the jug/bong and laugh at how badly they were made. Advice on any exceptionally bad movie that has passed in obscurity is worth hunting down. A misspelling of a word in the title screws us over. My favorite in the group is *The Terror of Tiny Town* the **only** all midget musical western. Once you've seen it and rolled under the sofa laughing, you'll understand why they only made one all midget musical western. It **wasn't supposed to be funny.** The all time life time winner of the golden turkey is *Plan Nine From Outer Space.*

At your nearest Native American reservation. On line they are likely to be made by Asians. "So where can you find a native-made dreamcatcher? In Indian territory, almost everywhere. People are making dreamcatchers in just about every Indian reservation in the US or Canada, and you can find them at any tribal gift shop, powwow, or Indian event." **Good** dreams are supposed to pass through the dream catcher and dissolve in the morning sun. You'll need the adult size dream catcher as opposed to the smaller, cheaper child dream catcher. Happy wet dreams. Source: http://www.native-languages.org/dreamcatchers.htm

WonderWartHog99 replies on Mar 20, 2019:
Meh. Fixing racism is never going to happen. What has been happening over the last century and a half has been laws that *restrict* the effects of racism. Laws like equal housing, giving groups the right to vote, equal opportunity for jobs . . . . At the start of the 20th century, lynching were common and the signs that said "No Irish need apply" have vanished. The expression "a Chinaman's chance" doesn't mean what it used to.
