Zster comments on Mar 28, 2019:
Right now, whether I cook for 1, 2, or 3 is up for grabs. For myself, however, a couple $20-25 trips for ingredients per week about covers it. I like to prepare large dishes: soups, or one dish meals, that I freeze back in single portions for nights when microwaving something is more my speed. Got to have control of those ingredients, ya know... (no processed stuff, thank you).

Zster comments on Mar 27, 2019:
I am currently in the process of "catifying" my four-cat home. I have two tree dwellers and two ground dwellers. The issue is with one ground dweller attacking the others and the other ground dweller being attacked by the others. The tree cats are an easy fix: provide trees, wall mounted shelves, etc... Providing options for the ground dwellers is not so obvious. I am thinking to offer multiple types and locations of cat beds, along with placing some SLIGHTLY up off the floor. I wonder if a similar approach might remove your feet from your cat's level, reducing the attacks.

All of the cats relaxing post company.
Zster comments on Mar 26, 2019:
The owner knows that people dislike the dog and refuses to visit any who have dared to complain, including her own son. She thinks anyone who demands that a dog modify its behavior is in the wrong. I close the cats up in our bedrooms to protect them. That does nothing to reduce the dog's urination or people-aggression, though. One cat greatly enjoys ambushing and attacking the dog, terrorizing it through the doggie door to the basement where this guest sleeps. The dog is quite afraid, which is amusing, I'll confess. (;

Zster comments on Mar 12, 2019:
I lived there from 1968 to 1998 (actually lived north of Whitestown when it was a blink-and-miss-it spot out in the country). The areas I lived (north and nortwest sides) have held up and grown. Cost of living is low. Home selection is great. Lots of new builds. Schools are ok. Summers get hot and humid, winters are snowy. There are lots of spectator sports to enjoy. Museums are ok. The month of May (Indy 500) is an event! The surrounding country side is pastoral, with LOTS of farm land and old fashioned hospitality. Feel free to PM if you have specific questions. My mom snd several friends still live in the area. I greatly enjoy visiting. Oh, and their governor post Pence? I used to ride the school bus with him! (;
Please pray for Justin Bieber. Somehow god has missed that he was struggling. Did omnipotence fail?
Zster comments on Mar 11, 2019:
I might think some that time away from the limelight, (preferably with someone who genuinely cares about him) could help. Depression can kill and being swept up by fame can be rough on grown adults. I suspect it can REALLY screw up a kid. I do hope he's going to rely on more than prayers to get through this.

Limited time and flagging energy for many of us combined with similar lack for those whom we might choose to befriend. I have multiple smaller suet feeders like you depict, so... maybe. I HEAR them in my woods every year and would love to see them!

I'd much rather improve the odds by avoiding believers, especially extremely intense believers, for anything serious or long term.

Zster comments on Feb 19, 2019:
Malarky. Your cells don't make more protein in response to eating more of it. The body DOES have to break it down and deal with the amino acid waste, which might not be a benign process to increase with a skewed diet. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4045293/#!po=1.19048

I used to collect all kinds of caterpillars and such at my great grandmother's farm in rural IN. Years later, my husband and I purchased our first home two miles down the road from that farm. I eagerly walked the roadside and creek banks nearby, seeking Monarch caterpillars and those of giant silk moths. I brought them inside on the necessary vegetation to feed them out and to guard the pupae until emergence time. ALL of them tried to pupate way too early and died. Such was the effect the insecticides used on the fields was having on unintended neighboring species. We're killing pretty much everything in that area and no one cares.

After catching him with another (not sex, but very physical/cozy), he chose to spend the summer with mommy, rather than staying in our college town where he had both a job and an apartment leased. I saw that as an immature choice and one that screamed volumes about where I stood with him. It killed any spark left. I broke it off. He had not seen it coming! I am glad to have not forced an ultimatum. The next year, his mom got sick and passed suddenly from cancer after a shockingly short two week battle. I'll always be glad that he spent the prior summer with her. He could have hated me if I had interfered with that.

Long hair or Short hair?
Zster comments on Feb 8, 2019:
I am definitely biased toward long hair. Personally, I find short styles a big pain in the patootie to take care of. The chin length bob looks good, but, for me, would require smoothing, daily and, around here, is a common style. Longer hair can be worn up, down, swept back, and, for some, either straight or wavy. Very versatile. Shortening in stages is not a bad idea. Then YOU will know what works.
